   Grandson and I greatly enjoyed our lunch in the historic bar and grill. His burger and my pastrami sandwiches were really good and the service was excellent.

   I love this place- so I thought we’d try the breakfast and we were disappointed. The food was so-do, bland. Same great service and ambience though.

   We made our reservations a week before our trip, with 4:30 and 8:00 being the only choices. We arrived early and had a drink in the main bar area, a very busy place on a Tuesday evening in March. Our table was available a few minutes before our 8:00 reservation. Our server, Bob, suggested the Oysters as an appetizer and we picked two of each kind. They were fresh and the vinegar sauce was just right for these New England oysters. I tried the Scallops, which were perfectly grilled and very soft in the middle on a bed of flavorful wild rice. My Spouse ordered the Crab Cakes (two) and they were packed with flavorful large chunks of meat and held together well. The suggested Old Fashioned cocktail had a little sweetness, which paired well with his crab. If we had room for dessert we would have certainly tried it.

   Fabulous meal and service! Would come here again. We had oysters and beets with buratta as appetizers. We were recommended the steak and frites, meatloaf and calamari fra di avolo. All tasted great. Meatloaf was good but a little heavy. We had no room left for dessert.

   I haven’t been to restaurant in many years and it is still amazing! The food was excellent and was the service. Looking forward to going back again soon!!

   We split the beet salad and the steak frites- both were excellent! We ate 1-3pm and it was busy and loud! Still a great value for money in this area w high quality ingredients.

    Our server made our night. He was an ambassador for DC. An intelligent young man that really knew how to care and anticipate the needs for a fulfilling experience. And the oyster shooters and clam chowder are a must. The peanut butter pie. Get it. Devour it. You won't be sorry.
