About this restaurant

  • Good for special occasions
  • Hot spot
  • Lively
As the first uptown New York location for legendary chef Nobu Matsuhisa, we opened with much anticipation in the summer of 2005.Nobu's co-owners are his longtime partners: renowned restaurateur Drew Nieporent, Oscar-winning actor Robert De Niro, and Hollywood film producer Meir Teper. The restaurant showcases Nobu's signature new style Japanese cuisine with classic dishes such as Tiradito Nobu Style and Black Cod Miso. The restaurant received three stars from the New York Times.

Lovely as always. I wish there was more room at the bar to have a cocktail while you wait but the staff was all lovely and the food was incredible.

We have been to Nobu several times in NYC over the years. This was our first time back on 57th street in a while and we decided to mix things up a bit. I tend to order the same things: Yellowtail jalapeño, miso cod, rock shrimp tempura all of which have never failed me. But this time we started with the usual yellowtail and then surrendered the rest to our waiter Liam. What a wonderful night. We tried lots of new things including some that were not on the menu and enjoyed all of it. Liam was the perfect server and the team totally supported him. The chef absolutely outdid himself and we will certainly be back for another visit soon. It was not super crowded on a Tuesday night but still lively and a bit noisy, but a corner table allowed us to enjoy ourselves and still catch up.

We were VERY rushed by staff, even though our reservation was for a 1:30 lunch… Well before closing time . The food was great, as always. The minute we were served some food, we were told that the kitchen wanted to start closing down so if we wanted anything else, We needed to order it right away. It was not even 2:30 yet! We hadn’t eaten any of the food yet. We were told they would “pace the dishes “ as we ordered several to share in addition to some sushi. They did not. We were VERY rushed, (despite their own policy stating for 3-4 people they have a 2 hr dining allotment) They obviously should allow you to enjoy your food , without hovering or grabbing at plates, which they did. (esp at those prices!!) Have been to many Nobus before, including this one several times, and had not encountered this rudeness or lack of service. Big disappointment!

OMG…Nobu is the bomb! Service is impeccable, respectful and helpful. The lobster taco with chimichurri sauce was a great beginning. We both ordered the bento box. SUBLIME! We started with a delightful bowl of miso soup. we were celebrating a birthday and Nobu reached out for the name of my quest and when the desert bento box was presented it acknowledged her name. She loved it and loved the desert especially the matcha gelato! Can’t wait to go back. Perfection!

Very expensive for a mediocre experience. Sashimi was above average but you can get similar quality elsewhere. Bit disappointed- expected Nobu to be special but very run of the mill experience you can have elsewhere for half the price.
