   It's a classic, great ambience in a cool building right on the park. Great food great service.

   I chose Mon Ami Gabi for sentimental reasons to celebrate my partner's birthday; it holds special memories. He flew in from our FL home just so that we could celebrate this occasion together. Our reservation was at 6:15 PM. We preferred a table other than the one we were to be seated at so that we could be in a more centered area of the dining room as I had noted that we were celebrating a birthday, and the hostess was kind enough to accommodate our request. Our server (my apology for not remembering the young man's name) deserves beyond 5+ as very honestly the most attentive and charming professional in this industry that we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. He was the highlight of our evening at Mon Ami Gabi. The only reason I offered a star less than absolute perfection is that one of the evenings specials was the Beef Wellington. The gentleman sitting next to us was enjoying it and urged my partner to order it as well, since it is not often found on menus unlike the always available steak frites. He did, but within minutes our server disappointed him with the news that the kitchen was already out of that night's special. By 7PM? The hanger steak with peppercorn sauce he then substituted and my roasted salmon over lentils were delicious. The salad of endive, apples and roquefort was exceptional. And the ice cream filled profiterole offered with compliments and a candle to make a birthday wish, was a lovely final touch to our evening. It's always nice to see a mix of guests of all ages for the dinner service, enjoying good conversation and laughter in the warm and inviting atmosphere.

   We had dinner on the patio and it was great! Lilly was a wonderful server, and the weather was lovely. Steak frites were perfect as usual, and the chicken was fantastic-it was my first time ordering this entree. It is a delicious meal!

   It was my wife’s birthday. We are big French onion soup fans and boy we were not disappointed. It’s also nice to have a decent sized drink. Everything was great and Mark made the day extra special.

   French to the core. Great old fashioned menu. We had the small steak and moules. Both were simple and excellent. Very fast service. I never say that anymore. Enough waiters. I never say that either.

   We have been to the Las Vegas restaurant quite a few times but never in Chicago. In fact, it was a lark that we discovered it. In some ways it’s a better atmosphere as it’s more intimate and seems like there are mostly locals dining. However, that was also something we noticed because our server treated us differently. I ordered a single glass of wine and was surprised she poured from the bottle at our table but didn’t offer me a taste plus my pour was quite a bit smaller than other patrons dining at the tables next to us. Additionally, some diners get an amuse bouche and some don’t. The floor was so slippery it made me wonder how often it is cleaned. Overall, if I was local I’d probably go back but I do prefer the Vegas location.

    One of our favorite restaurants in Chicago. The food is always exceptional as is the service. Our server Janet last night was exceptional. This restaurant makes every effort to be sure your needs and preferences are met. As always, last night was no exception.
