Sorry to say this place has lost its luster. I hope we caught them on a bad night, because this used to be a Chicago favorite of mine. First, the waiter forgot to place our app order so it came out 45 minutes later with our mains. Thank God the truffle lobster mac and cheese was still amazing because the chicken molé was so so and the burger was overdone an dry. The waiter did make up for things with a butter cake desert, which was appreciated. However, the experience was disappointing Step it up May Street. you used to be a 5 star raver!

We had a great experience here. Andres took great care of us, the homemade sangria was great! Guadalupe made amazing food, the fajitas and Tostones were out of this world.

Cozy restaurant off the beaten path on May St. and Cermak. Nice covered outdoor area eating space plus a new outdoor area is available for drinks and appetizers. Loved the flavors of the guacamole, Puerto Rican Paella and Chicken Mole. Will definitely go back.

Chose May St Cafe for its proximity to Thalia Hall. It is a tiny restaurant that you need to look for. Food was great. I would call it Latin Fusion. Much of the menu is shellfish. Also some meat. Limited wines by the glass but reasonably priced. I had a shrimp and scallop dish over coconut rice inside a grilled pineapple. Delicious, although I was disappointed that the scallops were either the tiniest on earth or else they were actually scallop bits. Only other issue was service. The food came quickly but the servers were unaware of certain needs, like water and getting the check. I would go again.
