We are not a ‘fancy pants’ establishment. Not in the least. We offer good quality, home-cooked, locally sourced (where possible) food. 90% of our menu is made on the premises. Certainly not ‘Pub Grub’ but not ‘Gastro Pub’ either. It’s good value for money. However, our standards are high, very high. Not only in the quality of the food that comes into and leaves the kitchen but also in the presentation, the delivery to the table and overall customer service. We’re definitely not ‘Silver Service’ either but all of our staff are attentive, smartly dressed and will always go that extra mile wherever they can. These are just some of the reasons we were awarded the Taste of the West GOLD award in 2019.
We are a dog friendly establishment, very dog friendly. However, please tell us at the time of booking so that we can place you in our Bar area , as opposed to our Restaurant.

My husband and myself had a 7 course tasting menu bought as a present for our birthdays and I decided to have the wine pairing only as my husband is not a wine drinker, the food was excellent and the wines chosen by the sommelier were superb, I had not experienced a pairing with a meal before and some of the wines I would not have chosen due to personal taste but because the sommelier had worked very closely with the chef and their dishes the wines chosen complimented the food perfectly. He was very knowledgeable and had a nice way about himself as were all the waiters/waitresses. The ambience is very relaxed and chilled. It's not cheap but you are enjoying an experience with high standard food and service so would definitely recommend.

The Hop Vine formerly the ‘Royal Hotel’ was built in 1874 and was the main stopping off point for goods being transported to and from the old Turnpike road the A59. The Royal as it was known has served the community and travellers alike. To the rear of the building in our historic Cobbled Garden you will find our own brewery housed in the stables which were used for the horses and stage coaches as they passed through the village. From Ales to YPA’s, to Blonde beers we are a small producer using primary English hops brewing exclusively in house for The Hop Vine and our sister pub the Legh Arms.

Our countryside sister the Legh Arms is our latest addition to the family and is situated in the pretty hamlet of Mere Brow. Here we serve our trademark delicious home produced quality food and excellent home brewed ales. The Hop Vine formerly the ‘Royal Hotel’ was built in 1874 and was the main stopping off point for goods being transported to and from the old Turnpike road the A59. The Royal as it was known has served the community and travellers alike. To the rear of the building in our historic Cobbled Garden you will find our own brewery housed in the stables which were used for the horses and stage coaches as they passed through the village. From Ales to YPA’s, to Blonde beers we are a small producer using primary English hops brewing exclusively in house for The Hop Vine and our sister pub the Legh Arms.

Our countryside sister the Legh Arms is our latest addition to the family and is situated in the pretty hamlet of Mere Brow. Here we serve our trademark delicious home produced quality food and excellent home brewed ales. The staff were really helpful and attentive in an obviously very popular and busy tapas bar. Not too busy in April, but still lively and you can hear what you are saying. Great range of menu options and a true taste of Spain. Best tapas I have had in the UK. Perfect for a quick drink and a snack before heading off, or a few snacks and a couple of drinks if you're driving. Ample parking nearby. Great value for what we ordered and finished off, especially if someone has bought you a gift voucher.

Amazing food, beautiful presentation loved it being brought in slow periods and the advice for what to have was great wine also great we ate far too much … birthday treat for me from my lovely friend and it was so good I came again the next evening but much later and again superb highly recommended .. it is a dining experience

We had Sunday lunch today 2 adults 1 child. the waitress gave different options for our son and was really helpful and attentive. We arrived early and had a few drinks in the bar which was so lovely with the singer and just such a nice vibe. The dinner today was absolutely the best dinner we have had out, (we usually go to branches or nest) which I still love but we both agreed everything about the food today was next level. The cheese soufflé is divine and everything down to the carrots that I initially whined to my husband that weren’t roasted and looked bland tasted liked they’d been slow roasted with fennel and were amazing. The best Sunday dinner ever and so reasonable for the level of food. Second time here the first time last year was great but not as amazing as today we are coming back next week and probably every week for the foreseeable. Thank you x

Welcome to The Jolly Fisherman, Craster. Combining stunning sea views with delicious home cooking and beautifully kept ales, this is a tastefully refurbished pub with tradition and character at its heart. We’ve taken great care to retain the charm of this historic pub with stone flagged floors, low beamed ceilings and comfortable seating. Great setting and ambiance, the staff were extremely attentive, without prompting they moved us to a window location away from a large group so we didn't feel engulfed by their celebrations.
