   Four of us dined at Lido on Christmas Day for mid-afternoon dinner. We ordered from their prix fixe 3-course menu. The food selections were interesting, varied, and unique. For the appetizer, I had the Pacific Crab Cakes which were generously loaded with crab meat. The accompanying Pickled Cabbage was surprisingly tasty as it was lightly pickled. My entree was Herb Crusted Wild Sea Bass which tasted good but seemed slightly undercooked in the middle to me and my husband. It was served on Celery Root Puree which melted in my mouth with creamy flavors. The Fried Brussel Sprouts were also tasty. The Chef gladly substituted Wilted Bloomsdale Spinach for my husband's meal. For dessert, I chose the Double Chocolate Buche de Noel which wonderfully satisfied me. The foods I chose matched my palate better than those the other members of our party chose. The scenic views were spectacular from the corner table at the windows and the service staff was very attentive and helpful in every possible way. We want to go back and try the open menu on a non-holiday.

   We had a lovely Christmas lunch in the beautiful dining area. Great food and service.

   We went to Lido for our wedding anniversary. My wife had the filet mignon and I had the lamb. Truly excellent fare! The service was outstanding. The staff is very professional and friendly. The only glitch was we had asked that a bottle of champagne on ice be waiting for us at our table and it wasn't. We were OK with that mistake since we decided to order a bottle of red wine instead, but when we saw a bottle of champagne on ice brought to another table a short while after we had ordered, we mentioned it to the staff because we thought it might have been intended for us. As it turned out, it wasn't, but the staff was very apologetic about the fact they missed this for us (even though we were not mad about it or anything), and they comped us several very nice glasses of champagne to make up for it. Anyway, the food and the service are definitely five stars. On the "con" side, we found the restaurant a bit on the noisy side, and the prices a bit on the higher side. But the ambience is great and this is a great special occasion choice. We will definitely be back.

   Great view of ocean and setting sun from our table. Service was exceptional and very professional. Sea Bass and Lamb were outstanding, i.e. delicious. Meals came to table as expected, warm to hot. Nice place to eat a meal in "comfort", i.e. quiet, relaxing, with friendly professional table service. Curbside valet "Outstanding" and professional.

   I've been to Lido a number of times and in some cases have had excellent food. We've hosted several work events in the past. However, the food on the Monday night I attended was sub par and overpriced that I think this may have been the last straw. I ate: abalone - we literally took a knife and split a 1.5 circumference abalone in two to share. $22. huh. romaine salad - disheveled lettuce on a plate. halibut - the person I attended dinner with ordered the same thing. It looked as though the kitchen was down to its last halibut and cut ours in two to share. I literally finished the halibut in four bites. The fish was very overcooked. The person with me at at dinner didn't finish his four bites. $40 per plate. huh

   Ordered the lamb special with a fig compote - was outstanding. Wine was a delicious complement to the beef carpaccio appetizer and lamb dinner. Server noted an offhand comment about a birthday and surprised my fiance with a birthday dessert. Beautiful views and wonderful setting.
