Restaurants near Strawberry Reservoir

My wife's halibut was top shelf, as were the drinks (a mocktail, a cocktail, one glass of Cab); The desert (tiramisu) was very good and enough for two. My fillet was cooked right and presented well but whoever selected the meat or trimmed it needs to up their game. We sat by a window and really enjoyed views of the lake and mountains. The service was friendly and adequate but the way every small task was delegated to a different person (our waiter seated us, took our order and checked back during our meal; another person brought our drinks and refilled our water; yet another person brought our entree's; and finally, another person brought our check, which was done electronically) felt impersonal. Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but when I waited tables as a young man, I took care of EVERYTHING but seating my customers, and I felt like the people I waited on left feeling like friends and not strangers.

Fantastic food and excellent atmosphere!! The service was quite slow. Even with a reservation it took some time to be seated. The place was mostly empty when we arrived (only a few tables with guests) yet we had been unable to get an earlier reservation as it showed the desired time as “sold out”. It wasn’t. When we did arrive at the appointed time, we waited and waited to be seated. Five waiters stood in the back corner chatting, empty tables throughout, and the two hosts simply asked us to wait with no reason given. They may have been new in their jobs or inexperienced. Excellent food!! Slow service.

Cozy Japanese restaurant with plenty of private space. Extremely friendly and attentive. Great sushi. Terrific fish and creative maki rolls. Don’t miss it!
