   Beautiful atmosphere & friendly, professional service but food slightly above average & overpriced. $9 sides (server said not large /sharable size) we passed. Shrimp tacos were skimpy on the shrimp. $17 sweet & bleu salad had delicious dressing but again - the price $5 too much. Possibly the sushi is a better choice? We gave it a shot, left still hungry & but won’t be back.

   We enjoy eating at Kona. The food is great. The service last night was awesome. I love fish and chips and saw last night that you added this to the menu. I ordered it and it was delicious. The light coating on the fish was very tasty. My girlfriend enjoys the macadamia chicken

   I understand inflation, but their food prices were Quite High as compared to other restaurants in the area! $37 for a Fish and Chips which was average at best, 5 out of 10, is TOTALLY RIDICULOUS as was pricing for most everything else. I'm aware of two other comparable restaurants within 5 miles of Kona where their Fish & Chips both rate an 8 out of 10 at a cost 30%+ lower. The same holds true for other items on their menu. I WILL NOT RECOMMEND KONA TO ANY OF MY FRIENDS OR BUSINESS ASSOCIATES!

   Our service was outstanding! I have been to a number of Kona Grill locations and always been pleased. This time, I met a friend, and we were interested in catching up than looking at the menu. I asked the server how the fish & chips were, and she replied it was her favorite. We both ordered this for lunch. When the bill arrived, we were both shocked to see charge of $37.00 per order for one piece of fish and a small basket of fries. Nothing more. We asked the server if this was correct, she too appeared shocked and said I need to check. She came back and said this lunch price was correct. We paid the bill. The manager then stopped by unaware of our prior question of the charge. We told her the same thing and her reply was "we get complaints about that all the time, it is way overpriced." So yes, we should have looked closer, and paying the amount is not the issue, however, I do have to say this is probably the most overpriced lunch I have ever paid for anywhere.

   We checked in for our 7pm reservation and were told they were waiting to clear some tables but if we went to the bar they would come and get us when the table was ready. We grabbed a drink and some fries while we waited. After 40 minutes, I went to check on our table and was told they thought they had already seated us. She apologized and found a table on the patio for us. The light above our table was on the fritz and strobing, which was really distracting. We were going to ask to be moved when our server came; however, we ended up leaving and dining elsewhere when it we had not had a server in 10 minutes.

   I have never written a bad review on any restaurant — but this warranted it: booking the reservation was easy and hostess sat us immediately. the server of table 23 never introduced herself, we had to ask for silverware and napkins and plates to share the avocado appetizer for the 4 of us. Drinks came relatively soon. However it was approx 1 hr when I had to flag down the server to inquire about our meals. she said we were on line of 30. I asked her to check again and told her that if it had not been placed that we would just pay for our drinks appetizer and leave. It again took a while for her to get back to us and I asked the status and she said that it had may not have been started. I said isn’t that your job to find out and then asked her for the check and to speak to the manager she brought the checks but no manager. At this time we were too angry to wait and knowing she would be not coming around soon enough left cash for the bills without a tip. She was less than efficient and never offered service recovery. We will not return and will most certainly tell our story as we did to people entering at 8. I hope that she receives better training in hospitality or they should have said up front they either didn’t have the help and given a heads up on the time to wait for food. That way customers can make their own decision to stay or eat elsewhere. We left and ate at Three Amigos and received our food within 20 minutes of ordering along with great service!!

   The prices of the meals at Kona should indicate this is an upper scale restaurant. We dined with four in our party. Stir-fry, chicken sandwich, sushi rolls, and French dip were the dinners chosen. The chicken sandwich was the winner because you got the most bang for your buck, large sandwich with a large side. But the other three dinners were small portions, and nothing at all special. The sushi rolls are better at Fusion, and Arby's roast beef is just as good. The service was below mediocre. Our drinks were all empty, and ordering an adult beverage, you must have to ask for it three times. And there was no indication from the server that the only choice is to pay at your table. I really wish we didn't waste a birthday dinner celebration here.
