   A favorite of hours for years. Looking forward to the renovated new diningroom. Can be pricey when you order drinks, appetizers, entree, coffee and dessert. But won't be disappointed, maybe left for special occasions. Highly recommend.

   We are in the Patio area and it was great. A bit loud but it wasn’t a problem. The service was great as was the food and wine.

   This was our first visit and definitely not our last. The decorations in the patio area were gorgeous. The food and flavors were delicious, especially the beet salad. I loved the tiramisu martini and the peanut butter mousse! We were very pleasantly surprised by everything. It was also great to have a place to park and the valet service was very good.

   King Umberto pre-pandemic was VERY good. Now it's VERY BAD. While the staff was excellent the food was terrible. Party of four, one sent back a dish, one just couldn't eat hers, one enjoyed his and I played it safe with a simple eggplant parm. The sauce tasted like it was out of a jar, a bad one (tho I haven't tasted a jarred sauce, aside Rao's, in 40 years). The mozzarella was like gum in your mouth. My mother in law was born in Italy (Palermo) and she taught me and wife how to cook. If she were alive and at KU last night she might have whacked the cook (certainly not a chef!) with her trusty wooden spoon. Staff, excellent. Food, garbage Covid killed the King. We won't be back.

    Very disappointed tonight we had to wait over an hour for our dinner for Mother’s Day. The waitress did not even offer a free drink or dessert in order to compensate for the extended time that it took for our food to come. We are regulars at this restaurant and have never had such a disappointing visit.
