   It was my first time there and I will be back. I met my grandson for dinner and the food and the service was fantastic.

   The seafood bowl was terrible. I don’t know what that flavor was from but the broth was really bad. I have had similar dishes before and never tasted like that. My kids got chicken tenders that were apparently cooked to an internal temperature of the surface of the sun cause it was so dry. The only good things we had were the Brussel Sprouts and Calamari. We barely saw the waitress. Great location and view but pick somewhere else for good food and service.

   Poor service affected the whole experience. Right after we ordered a large table was seated. Our server was very busy with them and we were totally ignored. We asked four people for a drink refill. We ordered dessert and after waiting 30 minutes we told a different server we no longer wanted the dessert and we would take the check so we could leave. Some time after that, our server brought the dessert which we turned down. If our server was overwhelmed, someone else should have been asked to take over our table. Very disappointed that our last dinner in Del Mar ended on a bad note!

   The food which, has always been the case, was spectacular. The Alaskan Halibut....soooo good. But beyond the food which always maintains a high standard at Jake's, the service was just unbelievable. From the Valet who greeted us, To the Bartender who made sure we were happy at the bar before our table was ready. To the cocktail waitress, who was the most beautiful soul even though she was not our waitress, she was so sweet to us. (she worked a double on Easter Sunday but still beamed with joy) (we wish we knew her name) To our waiter (Shain?) who was perfection, and again leaving with a Valet that was pure gentleman. The sunset was even perfect. We had such a memorable night ( I brought a friend from Oklahoma) and I have to say it was all because of a caring staff. I can honestly say, they made our night and we love them so. After moving to North County, it has been a while since I was at Jake's but...totally blown away

   For some unknown reason, servers let patrons by the windows to open windows fully that allows cold air to flow through the window dining area... very cool evening.
