   The food was excellent! The tuna was delicious, and everyone enjoyed every bite. Our plates were spotless. The half-price bottles of wine are a wonderful opportunity to try our waiter’s recommendations. The exceptional service allowed us to have a relaxing dinner with friends.

   We spend every birthday, holiday and anniversary at this restaurant. Have never had a negative experience. Food and service are always excellent.

   Absolutely great experience! Was seated at our scheduled time. The staff was well dressed. Only suggestion is the waiting area was a bit congested.

   Now all I need is for a J. Gilbert's to open in RI! I grew up in CT. Have gone to J. Gilbert's for years for special family events. So when it came time to decide where to take my mother for Easter, it wasn't even a question. Love this place.

    Our first trip to J.Gilberts was a bit of a rollercoaster. First we came at the time of our reservation but weren't sat for about 20 minutes, that's fine it's hard to predict how long other tables will take. Then I didn't fit in the booth. I'm on the heavier side and should have asked for a table when I made the reservation but I didn't think such an upscale joint would have booths. They were extremely apologetic as this caused another half hour wait but it's not their fault that I'm heavy. I do wish the world would be more accommodating to fat folks but won't hold my breath. They were so nice, they bough us a crab cake app which was delicious! I had the filet and lobster tail. The filet was amazing but I found the giant lobster tail to be a little on the fishy side, it was lacking that sweetness that lobster usually has. Another disappointment was the baked potato was undercooked and the truffle oil mushrooms tasted nothing like truffle oil. It wouldn't bother me if it wasn't such a pricey meal. The service was excellent. It was my birthday dinner and I loved that they decorated the table. I give it an 8 out of 10. We will definitely be back but I definitely won't order the lobster again.
