Little Italy was built by the fishing industry. Ironside attempts to continue that narrative. It's our contemporary interpretation of the classic fish house and oyster bar. Located in a historic auction house on India St we did a full comprehensive restoration of the building, with three open-air culinary hubs featuring an expansive raw bar, chefs table, and bakery. We tried to be mindful of the past while looking towards the future. Groups of 6 or more will be charged an automatic 20% gratuity. A 4% surcharge will be added to all guest checks.

Ironside is now taking reservations for patio and dining room seating.

We are now offering Happy Hour MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY FROM 3:00PM - 5:00PM.

Executive chef: Moira Hatfield

From the OpenTable editors: Portholes, anchor hooks, and an enormous octopus sculpture—the nautical energy is strong at this seafood giant. Executive chef Danielle Van Steen puts her stamp on highlights like bone marrow with tuna tartare and sesame smoked trout. The sprawling restaurant is set in a former auction house, hinting at San Diego’s maritime past.

    We had been recommended to go to Ironside. We had reservations at 6:00, we got there 5 minutes before. The hostess made us wait, though you could see three open tables where we were going to be seated. In the meanwhile she seated everyone else. Not a big deal, but could have been better. Our waitress was lovely and very accommodating. No complaints there. However, not the same story with the drinks and the food. My fiance' ordered a Maitai an it wasnt great. The real disappointment was the meal. I ordered the sea bass with the bok choy. The seabass was very dry and not tasty. My partner ordered the fish and chips and it just tasted like dough. We had hoped this would be a go to place, but don't think we will be going back.

    Fun and lively spot - decor is amazing. Started off with assortment of oysters on the half shell from various regions of WA state - each sweet and unique. Octopus a la plancha was delicious! And the bread is awesome. Lovely server - very enjoyable.

    Chowder was overpowered by the bacon and lost the seafood flavor. Oysters were great, and the server helped us select more briny based on our palate. Fish sando was really greasy, we assumed the oil was maybe too low of a temp, but the buttery brioche would have paired better with a grilled fish. Fries were fine. The octopus was a bit dry. Everything was just okay at best. The atmosphere was nice but it probably serves us right for going to eat in a touristy area. It was also our anniversary, which was noted in the reservation, and that went unacknowledged. Not a big deal, but after a really mediocre meal, it would have been a welcome high point.
