   Simple, very solid food with no fanfare, because the flavors provide the theatre. Small, romantic ingredient- driven. Basically, just like a well-run neighborhood institution in Italy, which should not surprise given the owners. Waitress was helpful and on point without being obtrusive. This is a wonderful place with food that delights and leaves you with a need to make notes on what you'll get next time.

   the perfect restaurant. Great food, sweet, sincere, professional servers, excellent drinks/wine... Honestly I could eat there every day....if I could get in, that is...

   My husband and I ate at I Sodi on June 26. We live in northeastern Maine and when we travel we really appreciate good food. I give I Sodi very mixed reviews. Appetizers were by far the best part of the meal - inventive, creative, delicious - we had a special heirloom tomato/mozzarella dish and an artichoke plate - would recommend them both. My main course was a special (orchette) pasta with asparagus. There was so much cheese on it I could not taste the asparagus and the pasta was thick and heavy. My husband had a lamb pasta dish that he liked very much. Dessert was very good - a special strawberry "tiramisu" though really that was not a fair name - more of a strawberry shortcake. The cookies were still crunchy - not moist like a real tiramisu - still the flavors and textures were very good and it was light and a nice end to dinner. The most disappointing aspect was the service. Our waitress was stand-offish with no personality and almost seemed put out by questions. She spoke so fast we could barely keep up. And, we ordered 2 cups of capuccino which we never got. When we finally flagged her for the bill, she set it down without mentioning the beverages. I told her we never received them and she did not bat an eyelash and simply said "it is not included in the bill." Clearly she forgot which is why the bill did not reflect them ( so it was not an error in the kitchen/bar or on the part of a different level of server). Not only did she fail to take responsibility and admit her mistake but she didn't apologize. To me, that is the mark of place I would not return to, no matter how good some of the food was. If I ran this restaurant, I would can that waitress - she is not doing them any favors.

   Food is OK, but too expensive for what is it. Everything is tasteful, portions are reduced++++ Menu is also small- not worth the visit!

   This was our first visit to I Sodi, but will not be our last. The combination of great service and very good food is hard to beat. The warm olives served as we sat down were fantastic and something that I have never had before. They had a prosciutto-like cured beef as an appetizer was excellent, and again something I had not had before. The entre of branzino was equally good. Not a cheap meal but worth it.

   I Sodi is around the corner from my apartment. I've wanted to go, but it's always hard to get a decent reservation. This time I booked about a month in advance. I read several reviews where there was criticism about the wait, even with a reservation. This was not the case with mine. We arrived at 8:25 for an 8:30 reservation and were seated in a very good spot - table by the window. The waiter was there within another few minutes. We decided to do a split of a salad, a pasta, a main, and a dessert. We chose the fava bean/radish salad - excellent fresh different flavors, strips of fresh basil, light dressing, the artichoke lasagna - rich, creamy, tasty and filling, the whole branzino, sautéed delicately with capers, and the semi-freddo. Each was a taste delight. When we ordered, we asked if that would be enough and were assured that it would be. I think it would have been a little better had we also ordered a side vegetable (maybe spinach) to go with the branzino. We will be back.

   In all of my visits to i Sodi I had never tried the Branzino and I have to say it is so well prepared that I'd say that I haven't had a branzino this perfectly cooked in all of Italy, including Veneto and Lago di Garda. I love that I also didn't have to deal with the bones and the skin- something I just assumed was part of the job, like getting to lobster meat. Each bite was heaven- a delicious flavorful and slightly chewy (in a good way) white fish. Can't recommend it enough. My friend an dI split the steak tartar beforehand and the combo was a treat. while I prefer a beef carpaccio, this was one steak tartar that I did really enjoy. Service was very good, but I don't like the fact that they don't let you sit until your full party(our party being 2 people total) were there. The place was empty and remained empty until 7 as they couldn't let people book if the tables were full at 7 pm. Let us sit, have a drink and browse the menu. It's a silly rule that makes no sense.

   I Sodi is OK for a neighborhood restaurant. The food is somewhat imaginative, but not outstanding. There was nothing wrong, however, there was nothing that would make me want to go back.

   I Sodi is a quintessential Greenwich Village restaurant. Quaint and charming with food that is up to the minute (as are the prices!) Everything is brilliantly prepared, and wines range from affordable to not even close. Service is professional and friendly. From pasta to seafood to meat and fowl, virtually every item on the menu is a winner.

    We arrived at the restaurant at 8:50 for our 9pm reservation. We were advised that our table would be ready at 9. At 9:40 we were finally seated. At least one group of 2 who did not have reservations were seated prior to us. During our wait we never offered a glass of wine or any advice on how long it would be before we would be seated. Food was quite good but not worth the poor service .
