When owner Johnny Carrabba set out on his next restaurant venture, he knew his vision would include the fond memories he had of his dear grandmother Grace Mandola. Grace, also known to the family as Mama, was a Sicilian woman born to immigrant parents in Louisiana. She had a flair for cooking, hospitality, and deep faith.

She was known to make bread from scratch every Saturday for her legendary three-hour Sicilian Sunday lunches; and, her newly established family roots in Louisiana added interesting flavors to her home cooked meals. The entire Mandola family, including her five children and fourteen grandchildren, was regularly greeted in her home with smells of warm bread, well brewed sauces and homemade soups. It was around her table that her family learned the true meaning and value of relationships, friendships and good food.

    For some reason, this restaurant caught our eye on a recent trip to Houston, so we decided to eat there. To say that we were awed by the experience would be an understatement. The food was absolutely marvelous--the fried green tomatoes were so amazing I wish I had them in front of me right now. Spectacular service, and overall simply delightful experience.

    Our waitress was amazing!!!! The food was yummy, and the wine too! We were able to sit outside (it’s a bit noisy inside). Overall a great experience! We are happy we came into town from Cypress to check this place out!

    While waiting for our guests, we sat at bar and ordered a cocktail and the rib appetizer. Thanh was our bartender who took exceptional care of us. When our guests joined us we decided to take a booth in the bar area. Again, Thanh took care of us with grace, excellent memory and service. He is outstanding! Our dinner was delicious. Grace’s has a very nice ambiance with an excellent staff.
