Since opening its doors in 1984 Gotham has received a record six 3-star reviews from the New York Times. After closing alongside the pandemic for 18 months, in November of 2021 a renovated Gotham was reopened by new ownership, longtime Managing Partner Bret Csencsitz and environmentalist Kevin Conrad, with former pastry chef Ron Paprocki taking over the iconic kitchen. Redesigned by its original architect James Biber, Gotham is filled with a vibrant collection of contemporary art by established and emerging artists. A new library and lounge expand the bar experience, while Chef Paprocki's spectacular new menu is being heralded as equally approachable and unforgettable.

This was our latest of maybe half a dozen visits to GB&G and we have yet to be disappointed. The restaurant is very attractive and conducive to conversation. Service is first rate. We started with the goat cheese tortellini special (excellent) seafood salad (outstanding) and baby kale salad (good but not special). For mains we had the rack of lamb (superb) Niman ranch pork (perfect) and halibut (very good). The wine list is overpriced and unexceptional but we found a recent vintage burgundy that suited us for a high, but not wholly unreasonable, price. With tax and tip it was $170/pp, which is on the high end even for food of this quality but not robbery. We expect to return often but this is not everyday dining.

Near perfection, as always. This is one of the few restaurants that seems too get better and better. It’s expensive, but reasonable compared to some of the other high end NYC restaurants.

The kale salad is a great addition to the menu. It’s not a place you get frequent often because the menu never changes but it’s good reliable food.

Restaurant was empty and they tried to sit us next to kitchen door at small table. Food was average at best. Overpriced. Would not recommend it. Will not return
