   I was filled with anticipation for our afternoon tea, because Fortnum and Masons has always been my Mum and I's favourite. Superiour quality food and service. Whilst the service was beyond up to scratch, the food was beguillingly lacklustre. I had expected far more for my mother's birthday present. I thought it was a guaranteed win, but it was in fact the worst afternoon tea I've ever been to in terms of food. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't disgusting, but it was mediocre at best. The scones were dry, the sandwiches left something to be admired. The cakes were okay, though we weren't given one each. Please make sure your quality matches your stupendous service, because your waiters are phenomenal.

   The service was extremely disappointing. A Perfectly reasonable requests was met with the response that it comes like that and cannot be changed. It was not the type of attitude we would have hoped for.

   Lovely tea rooms , fantastic service, unfortunately terribly overpriced for underwhelming food.

   Lovely afternoon, the staff were great and the food was excellent. Perhaps a longer session would have made it perfect.

   Enjoyed an afternoon tea. sandwiches were too tasty as ordered more and then struggled to eat the cakes as full, but they let you take the cakes away with you so have just finished them off. When we went on a Saturday it was really busy and maybe a midweek might be quieter but overall an excellent experience and recommended

   Lovely place, service was a bit disorganised at times. I asked for a replacement cup and it never came, had to ask again but by the time it arrived we had finished. Some of the sandwiches were a bit dry too.

    My partner and I have had Afternoon Tea in Fortnums at least 4 or 5 times before. Every time it was amazing. However, sorry to say but this one was a little disappointing. It was my partner’s birthday and while other 3 tables got their little cakes with candles- we got nothing. The service was slow compared to previous experience. We thought they were understaffed - which happens and we completely understand. The main issue we had was the food runners. They were clueless of which table gets what, who is waiting etc. I personally saw our food going back and forth between the kitchen and the tea room as they couldn’t figure it out who it belonged to. My partner went for the High tea and chose the omelette, which was cold as it was travelling for so long - maybe it was meant to be cold, not too sure. So the guy brought the food, explained nothing (they usually do tell you what are the sandwiches, desserts etc) and walked away without bringing the jams/clotted cream. We had to ask for that to be brought to us. It wasn’t easy to get someone’s attention as it was really busy. When we eventually got the jams, 1 min later another tray was brought with jams - we refused it obviously. We asked for additional plate of sandwiches and that was travelling around the room as the food runners had no idea what goes where. The lady that served us, took the order - amazing. So polite, friendly and helpful. She did say that we should have asked for the cake with birthday candle once she found out that it was my partner’s birthday - but thats just awkward, you don’t ask for that. Regardless, the food is great, presentation is beautiful and we will still come back as we are obsessed with Fortnum & Mason.
