Just as in Italy where the food is genuine and locally sourced, you'll find the same at Intero with farm-to-table Italian cuisine. At its core, the concept behind Italian cooking stems from necessity and gratitude for regionally available ingredients. Intero, translating to “whole’’ in Italian, embraces this concept utilizing local ingredients from their entirety, paired with traditional Italian techniques and cooking sensibilities. This naturally sustainable approach allows for innovative, yet familiar dishes that highlight the seasonal availability of what’s grown and raised in Texas. Additionally, Intero provides an authentic nod to the sweet side of Italy offering specialty house-made artisan chocolates (including truffles, barks, and sipping chocolate) along with other traditional Italian desserts in classic, seasonal and unique flavors. South Texas Ice House, "Texas Cuisine" Products from the Texas Gulf to the Texas Hill Country."The huge snake logo on the outside of an otherwise nondescript building -- created by Bob "Daddy-O" Wade, best known for the oversize boots that front San Antonio's North Star Mall -- is your first hint that this place might be a bit, well, different. Inside, cowboy kitsch, 1950s diner decor, and Mexican folk art mingle, as do workers from the nearby county offices, local movers and shakers, and anyone else looking for terrific food that, like the decor, defies easy categorization.Call it South Texas gourmet. You can really taste the chipotle chilies in the tartar sauce that comes with some of the best crispy oysters this side of the Mason-Dixon Line, and the Gulf fish tacos are gussied up with chili lime aioli and Tabasco jalapeño onions. You get the idea -- lots of spicy dishes."

I'm ready to go back. Went for a "girls night" with two of my best friends. We all love each other, and food, and our monthly outing is sacred time... It needs to COUNT. Calamari and Caprese for the table were perfect. Caprese is so simple, yet often underwhelming, but their use of excellent ingredients created the Caprese we all WANT. We ordered 3 different types of pasta and all were fantastic. Carbonara was salty, but for me, perfect. The capellini again was so simple in a way, but perfect and fresh. My lamb ragu was a show stopper and perfectly savory. The texture was perfect. Dessert on our girls night was the affogato, ricotta brûlée, and tirimisu... All delicious. The sugared-almonds they added to the tirimisu were lovely. I appreciated the ricotta brûlée most, and thought it was the most unique of the desserts. Our server was fantastic and we couldn't have asked for a better or friendlier "tour guide" to Asti. He handled our "girls night" *excellently*. As the saying goes, he understood the assignment. He provided fantastic service with the perfect amount of care. We were able to talk for two hours straight with lots of delicious (important for them to be delicious!) carbs and wine, and he cared for us with humor and dignity. Atmosphere allowed for conversation and a bit of privacy. There were two other groups celebrating, which was nice.
