Best Restaurants for Local Ingredients in Highlands

The food at Key Kiddo is nothing short of exquisite—hands down, the kitchen knows what it’s doing. The textures and layering of the sauces were sophisticated, elevating each dish beyond the ordinary and making every bite memorable.The atmosphere? High-energy and fun, but prepare for a little noise (not the spot for an intimate tête-à-tête). Service was a mixed bag: our main server was excellent—on point, attentive, nailed the experience. Some of the other staff, though, seemed more interested in being seen than actually serving. A little less attitude, a little more attention would go a long way. One odd miss: no coffee, supposedly for “sustainability.” Yet, head downstairs to the hotel (same owners, I believe, I could be wrong) and it’s a wall of K-cups. If you’re going to plant a flag in the eco-conscious ground, at least be consistent. Drinks—here’s where Key Kiddo is trying hard but not quite nailing the landing. The bespoke bar wants to deliver a “wow” experience, but it’s clear half the bartenders are still learning the ropes. Two out of four drinks actually lived up to the hype. The rest? Almost there, but not quite. A little more training and some transparency on what’s actually in your “original creation” would help the bar match the food’s level without having to ask for an explanation. Overall, Key Kiddo is worth the trip for the food alone. If they tighten up the bar program and iron out the attitude, this place could be a standout.

For several years we have enjoyed Jovanina's by ourselves. Last night we invited family to join us and Jovanina's now has another couple who will be back. I rarely order pizza bit that was my mistake, the Mushroom pizza is amazing. A great blend of flavors. The other couple ordered the sausage pizza and not even a small scrap was left. Before the pizzas we shared the foccacia bread, always superb. And enjoyed the tri-color roasted carrots appetizer, also wonderful. Thank you Charlie.

Everything was great! Service and food were very good.

We had a lovely light dinner at Rioja. The menu was exceptional with plenty of choices to please every palate as well as the opportunity to have a smaller portion on some of the menu items. My Tagliatelle was a great seafood dish with homemade pasta, a lovely presentation, and scrumptious sauce. The breads were incredible. There is also opportunity to sit outside in warmer weather. The best part was that the indoor environment was delightfully quiet. You could actually hear your dinner conversation without noise from other diners, even those close to your table.

Another customer-focused special evening! Loved the new "Spring" menu and Carlos provided the BEST service...AGAIN!
