Even though Post is a new name for most of us, it has been an important part of South Hamilton history since 1924. The historic building at 16 Bay Rd. was home to the South Hamilton Post Office, and a place for residents to send and pick up letters. In response to the Great Depression, and a drop in the postage rate (from three cents to 2 cents), the Postmaster added more opportunities for residents to pick up their mail. At Post, which at the time was known as “the brick block building”, letters were piled on a table, and a bell was rung to let residents know that they could come and retrieve their mail. Keeping with that tradition, guests of Post will have an opportunity to “Ring the Bell”, which signifies that they have bought a beer for our hard working kitchen and waitstaff.     The Mussel appetizer was fresh, generous and tasty. The mussels were VERY large, the broth was buttery, smooth with the right touch of white wine; the crusty dipping bread was perfect. The swordfish entree with orzo salad was delicious. Our server, Stephanie was pleasant, professional and appropriately attentive.

    This is one of my go-to spots in Newburyport. Reliably tasty. Solid sushi - my favorites are the Tenmini Roll and Rock and Roll. A couple favorite apps are the bang bang shrimp and the cauliflower.

    For a first time visit - ambiance was great; spacious seating easily seating our party of 6 - food selection was great; wide array of choices for everyone including vegetarian which is great. Drink options were very expansive between a great choice of draft, bottle/can choices, and mixed drinks Highly recommend for a night out with friends, family, or a date night with your significant other
