We wanted to create a place where a night out with the kids didn’t mean food adults had to suffer through or a night out with the parents didn’t mean a stuffy place where kids had to wear a scratchy clip-on tie. Shinsei is just that: a neighborhood gathering place with date night appeal. But not so unexpected that you won’t be able to decipher the menu or recognize your favorite dish.     Visited Shinsei for the first time to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had a wonderful experience. The food was phenomenal, the ambience was great, and the service was spot-on. The only feedback I have is about the layout — the table tucked behind the curtain felt a little cramped. The chairs placed in the corners against the curtain didn’t seem necessary unless a party size called for it (like 8 people). It could be uncomfortable for anyone who doesn’t easily fit into a tighter space. Just something to keep in mind! Did not at all change my perspective on my visit though — truly EXCELLENT experience all around! ◡̈

    Just moved here from Chicago recently bigger Italian restaurant town back home Carbone Vino, which hands-down, the best restaurants that we’ve ever eaten great service. Great ambience will definitely be back. Highly recommend.
