Earlier still, in the 1700s, Elias Hughes operated a tavern for whalers on this site. It was the first tavern in Cape May. In Italian, the word, Secondo means “the second part of a duet.” When we opened Panico’s Bistro, we knew we wanted to eventually add some harmony to our original melody and so, Secondo is the continuation of our long-standing tradition to serve classic Italian cuisine in concert with Mediterranean influences right here in Cape May County. Nested beautifully on the bay, enjoy dinner and hand-handcrafted cocktails; inside in our sophisticated dining room or outside on our covered patio next to the harbor and water. Long before the farm-to-table trend invaded America, Louisa’s espoused this philosophy, and served food to match. The tiny-but-iconic eatery was established in 1980 and has been dishing out incredibly fresh and delicious food in the small historic yellow building ever since.
