Nadir our server was very attentive and helped us surprise our Birthday guest. The food was generally very good, but a few of the seafood items were a little subpar. We had raw oysters, which were great, and two of us enjoyed the cod entrée, also great. One of us enjoyed the duck, which was very good, but it was a surprise when it came with a different side dish, instead of the artichokes (one of us partially based her decision to order it because of the artichokes). The calamari appetizer we shared was overcooked and tough, and the bouillabaisse came with really good muscles, but the other seafood within was not.

I had better experience before at this restaurant but the food is not the same as before. Food was expensive and nothing special. The dish “Roasted Giant Trumpet Mushrooms with quinoa” was not well prepared.

Del Ray Cafe is not the place to do dinner in Del Ray. There brunches are good, dinner not so much.

Very good French bistro food. I had the French clam chowder, which was more like soup than chowder, which the waiter told me about before I ordered. The cassoulet was excellent and included pork belly, two types of sausage, and duck. Since there were no vegetables besides the beans, I ordered a side of baby kale with bacon and shallots. The kale turned out to be kale sprouts. The best kale I've ever had. The ambience is very pleasant, but the sound level was a little loud.

Four women "of a certain age" celebrating a birthday, we requested downstairs seating because that room is quiet. As always, the food was delicious, the presentation lovely. Our waiter was attentive — in fact, he picked up on the birthday (not mentioned when I made the reservation) and presented the celebrant with a special dessert topped with a birthday candle. We could not have been more pleased with the entire affair!
