I chose the Sussex Oak as a ‘halfway’ venue to meet a friend for lunch. We were helped by the weather which meant we could sit in the spacious garden. The menu is plentiful and varied - I had a delicious Brie, avocado and tomato sandwich and shared some chips which were absolutely amazing - just the right amount of crispiness. The landlord was friendly, chatty and welcoming - and there was the distant sound of children in the school playground as we chatted in the sunshine. All in all an idyllic experience!

Lovely renovated pub, brilliant servers which makes all the difference. Vegan options were great, overall lovely lunch spot.

Great food, great staff. The pub is in a lovely location.

Service was (and always is) incredibly slow, although the server was wonderful when she was with us, and I understand not having bright floodlights in the dining room, but the row of booths were in total darkness, I couldn’t read the blackboard. Otherwise a good visit.

Food was great staff caring - one of best burgers I’ve had.
