The food is very good, but the portions are too small for the price, for example, if you order sashimi, you're only given three pieces, which if two people are dining doesn't really make sense - there should be an even number of pieces. The size of the rolls is also very small.

Visited Shinsei for the first time to celebrate a friend’s birthday and had a wonderful experience. The food was phenomenal, the ambience was great, and the service was spot-on. The only feedback I have is about the layout — the table tucked behind the curtain felt a little cramped. The chairs placed in the corners against the curtain didn’t seem necessary unless a party size called for it (like 8 people). It could be uncomfortable for anyone who doesn’t easily fit into a tighter space. Just something to keep in mind! Did not at all change my perspective on my visit though — truly EXCELLENT experience all around! ◡̈

Always fresh and always yummy. This time we tried 3 new things. The Soft shell crab appetizer, the 45 roll and the main something or other roll. All were delicious! I would order them all again next time we go. The uni was great also. But that’s my favorite so….until next time.

Good food and service. A little disappointed with the Kung Pao chicken. Not as flavorful as I have had at other restaurants.
