Chapter One is an award-winning Modern European restaurant with 3 AA Rosettes in Orpington, Kent. Following a major refurbishment in early 2019, Chapter One has relaunched with a more modern approach, tempting guests with greater variety and quality.

Under the direction of acclaimed chef Andrew McLeish, modern European cooking is available in two formats. In the Restaurant, sophisticated seasonal dishes are served in a refined setting with a weekly changing 3-course Lunch Menu du Jour, a seasonally-inspired 7-course Tasting Menu and an a la carte option. In the more informal Brasserie, a selection of favourites are cooked to perfection with the finest ingredients. The drinks offering is as exciting with an AA Notable Wine List, premium spirits, and cocktails. There is also a private dining room for corporate and private occasions.

    Another excellent evening at Chapter One. We (the wife & I) chose the Coronation celebration set menu, and what a good choice. All brilliantly great flavours, nothing too rich which can sometimes be a problem on these tasting menus. The atmosphere was spot on, with superb service. We will be back again .

    We’ve hired the function room on two previous occasions but this was our first dining opportunity and it certainly did not disappoint. The ambiance was excellent and the food exquisite. Having travelled the world during my career, I have stayed in 4, 5 and 7 star hotels and the food in Chapter One’s restaurant equals the best anywhere. With attentive staff complemented by spacious tabling the setting is ideal for an enjoyable and memorable gourmet experience. A definite recommendation and one we shall be repeating.

    The Coronation tasting menu was the best we have ever had. Food is always of an exceptional standard as are the staff. We love Chapter One & will continue to return.

    Food was spectacular, a real treat (but with the price point to match). Service was good but a little varied depending on who, for the most part very friendly and warm but could be a tad haughty. Would recommend for a special occasion.

    Having enjoyed several meals (including my wedding reception) at Chapter One - this one excelled the rest. Great to see the team keeping their overall quality at the highest level possible. The Octopus Tartare was particularly stunning and the service impeccable.

    Visited yesterday with my wife. Absolutely lovely venue and the food was delicious. Service is first class, with the team happy to help advise my wife and I on the best drinks to compliment our meals. Could not recommend Chapter One high enough.
