If there’s one thing the restaurant community has shown time and again over the past few years, it’s that they quickly coalesce in times of crisis. They did it during the pandemic by feeding people in need, they rallied behind Ukraine following the Russian invasion, and they’ve now come together once again to support those affected by the devastating fires in Maui.
Since the fires broke out in early August, more than 100 people have died and 2,200 structures have been destroyed in the historic town of Lahaina, once the royal capital of Hawaii. The local restaurant community has been hit hard, and many have now launched fundraisers to rebuild, support their staff, and provide meals and shelter to those in need.
Organizations such as Southern Smoke are also helping by financially supporting restaurant workers while they are out of work—granting $3,400 on average to each person. Donations are in dire need.

Here’s a list of affected restaurants in Maui with links to donate to their fundraisers.
