The service was very good. The food was cooked perfectly. Portion sizes were very good as well. If Cabernet is the wine on choice I would recommend the Eagle Ridge cab. I don't normally like house cab but this was AMAZING!

Brunch was amazing! Great food and mimosas, and everybody was extremely friendly.
A must when visiting Galena!
I spent the weekend in Galena and had the opportunity to eat at the Woodlands Restaurant on Sunday. I appreciated that they served a wonderful buffet and brunch, giving me the opportunity to choose what worked for my palate. The menu was plentiful for me with the buffet and the food items were scrumptious! My server (Nan) was extremely pleasant and helpful when it came to choosing what I later ate. I will most certainly come back and I recommend this restaurant to others who will have the opportunity to visit the Galena territory.
brunch was great!
The Easter brunch was amazing. The wait staff was friendly, kind and professional
not so great...
Our server was very distracted by something. when we were seated and came up and told us the special and left. We asked for a wine menu. And the soup of the day. And the candle to be lit (like all the other tables). Twice. The food was so-so. (Breakfast the next morning was better all around). It was our anniversary dinner so it was kind of disappointing but we made the best of it.
Could be better
Lighting way too bright and the prime rib buffet option doesnt fit with this atmosphere
Our nice evening out
We always enjoy eating at Woodlands either in the lounge or the restaurant. Brie is a friendly manager who always greets us with a smile. Our waitress Brenda, was excellent! Ask for her! You won't be disappointed.
Good breakfast buffet
you have not many choices for winter time in the eagle ridge resort area unless you go down to downtown galena which is a 20 min driving. In fact woodlands restaurant is the only fine dining restaurant of the resort during non golf season. Among the menu, breakfast buffet has good food selections and best value. On sunday morning you can choose either breakfast buffet or brunch buffet. Selections in the first small room are for breakfast and the second room covers lunch menu such as pasta, chicken, beef, etc.
Ruined Xmas Dinner
Initial meal was not even slightly warm. I had ordered medium rare Prime Rib. They brought me another meal which this time was slightly warmer but cooked WELL DONE. They did refund my dinner but at that point had ruined our Christmas dinner.
My wife and I heard how good the food was at the Woodlands. We were skeptical since it was inside the hotel and knew the prices would be much higher than going into town. We were wrong on the price for sure. We had a superb meal for under $100 and that included 2 cocktails and a glass of wine. The Prime Rib buffet which I had was awesome....always fresh and the server was very helpful. Will be back again.
Saturday Night/Sunday Morning
Saturday night at the Woodlands is great as they have an all-you-can eat prime rib buffet; the meat was great and the side dishes did not disappoint. We followed with the Sunday morning brunch, which was really excellent. Lots of choices, including made-to-order omelets.

Arrived early for our reservation and were accommodated. Featured salad of the evening were excellent. Both filets we ordered were fantastic with balsamic mushrooms. The wine list had an amazing selection of cabernet, we ordered the oshaughnessy Mt veeder. Our server did a great job. Really was an excellent experience. Thank you!
Food was awful
The food was really awful. My husband had the special, prime rip buffet and I had the menu special of shrimp scallops and risotto. They meals were just awful, and being that they were billed as the "specials" we figured the other menu items are probably even worse. We will not be returning.
Ticked away gem
If you are willing to take the drive down, the food is great. The breakfast buffet is extensive and reasonably priced. Custom to order omelettes. Great service each time we went.
I found the menu to be very limited and that was disappointing to me. We were celebrating a friend's wedding and the six of us enjoyed our server who was very personable. Others said their entrees were delicious but I didn't enjoy mine too well. The server brought out a desert saying she heard we were celebrating a wedding. A nice gesture but after we got home we noticed she charged us for her kind gesture. We would have graciously declined the desert as we had wedding cake waiting at home for us and I'm sure it was just an oversight.
Do not miss this gem!
Excellent service by our waiter, outstanding prime rib buffet, plus another had the short rib ,which was absolutely outstanding. Worth the price!
Excellent meal! We will be back!

Was not happy at all at check in at dining.
The older man that did then wine testing also check us in and told me and my wife that even thou I asked for by the window he would not give it to us and that even with three table open my window it put us by the wall. I had requested this in my email. He was very rude and I did not like him and set our dinner in a back place to start out. Love the food but all I wanted was a nice place for my wife and I for our 17th wedding anny by the window for a nice dinner look over the water. If I would if know how rude he was to us I would have picked someplace else were people are nicer. My wife said the man was rude to her at the wine testing and keep his back to here and would talk only to couple and she was when by her self. She had to ask him twice to test other wine after he gave it to other couples. She left early due to how rude he was to her.
Gardner's Family brunch
best brunch in the Midwest; great outdoors deck overlooking the lake; great lobby area leading to restaurant; fantastic resort.
Would definitely eat here again. Lovely restaurant!
Stayed at Eagle Ridge Resort over Labor Day Weekend and dined at Woodlands. Kudos to the hostess and the dining staff as they went overboard to accommodate us in every way. The service was prompt, the food was hot and tasty (do try the Chamomile Salmon). The bar stays late - special shout out to the bar staff who not only made a great long island but served us desserts very, very late at night. Thank you all for the pleasant memories.

Fantastic wine list, world class cuisine and excellent service. Thank you so much for a wonderful evening!
A memorable anniversary dinner
My husband and I have celebrated two anniversary dinners at Woodlands. The first was a group wine-pairing dinner five years ago that was delightful. The second was just the two of us on Saturday, August 8th. We opted for the screened porch, which has a view of Lake Galena, and it was a perfect evening for it! We shared the porch with a group of eight, and another couple, yet it was still very private, unlike dining in Chicago or the 'burbs where you struggle to hear what is being said at your table. Service was excellent. We didn't take advantage of the in-house sommelier, just picked a Bouchaine 2004 pinot noir that was very good, so assume that the wine list is of quality. We began with a shrimp appetizer that featured large, fresh shrimp. My husband ordered a steak with sides, all of which caused him to feel he had had an extraordinary experience. I ordered a new seafood dish that was amazing! (I hope it is still there when we return in September.) We also opted for the signature salads, and I have to confess that I could possibly eat the custom basil dressing as a soup! It is truly delightful..light and flavorful. Since it was our anniversary, we were also given complimentary desserts. My husband chose a chocolate layered cake and I selected crème brulée. Despite being full, the cake disappeared! (and I enjoyed mine the next day.) Service was excellent. The staff is well-trained and attentive without being intrusive. For us, the evening could not have been more enjoyable.
We were staying at the resort and had been eating at various places in Galena but we spent our last evening here and it was the very best! The setting is beautiful, overlooking the lake, and you can eat indoors or outdoors. The waitress was very attentive, as was the hostess when she found out it was our daughter's birthday, and explained everything thoroughly. But it was the food that was outstanding. The house salads included a wide variety of veggies, including artichokes which are my favorite, and came with a house dressing on the side. The Halibut and Salmon were moist and uniquely prepared. Warm bread with whipped garlic butter. Their signature dessert is a fried cinnamon roll covered with warm caramel and pecans - they say it is enough for two but all four of us enjoyed it. They even brought out a slice of birthday cake and candle for my daughter! Lots of nice touches, great food, and - a sign on the menu telling people to turn off their cell phones! This is going to be our go-to place the next time we are here!
Excellent Rack of Lamb
Enjoyed one of the best racks of lamb I've ever had....and HUGE portions, the entree included two racks of 4 bones/chops. The garlic mashed were also very good. Service was great, dining with a stunning view of Lake Galena on a perfect night!! Highly recommend.
Prime Rib Buffet-Now AMAZING
We have come to the Saturday night all you can eat Prime Rib Buffet at Woodlands for a number of years and this last Saturday was by far the BEST ever!! We love our server, Chris (she's been there for more than 20 years!!!), and Steve the manager educated us on Prime Rib about our favorite "feathered meat" section of the roast, and when we went up for our first slice-he made sure the Chef cut us the exact perfect piece -which was amazing and probably like 14 ounces!! I couldn't even finish the first slice, the salad bar was amazing and including offerings like grilled vegetables, grilled chicken, along with the usual veggies, croutons, and 3 different lettuce selections. The roast was perfectly seasoned (they season not only the outside of the roast but also put a layer of seasoning under the "feathered meat" section for a delicious prime rib experience. Service was fantastic as always, and the views of Lake Galena and the sunset just gorgeous. HIghly recommend!!!
Dinning at Woodlands
The Woodlands restaurant at Eagle Ridge is outstanding. The food options, the service and ambiance is wonderful. First rate experience and me and my wife have a lot of first rate experiences.

Would not reccomend, I ordered the spring pea risotto, the peas frozen, can red peppers and artichokes. It was awful. The service was fine. Food not.
Excellent dinning restaurant & bar restaurant.
Enjoyed a tasty breakfast and dinner at the Woodlands main restaurant. On Sunday we loved the brunch! For lunch we dined in the bar restaurant part while watching sports on the tvs. Both restaurants had friendly service, delicious food, and a great atmosphere.

Sunday brunch was fabulous as always! It is a great place to take guests. Chris is so friendly & fun!
Since you asked
We've been to the Woodlands Restaurant at Eagle Ridge many times during our stays in Galena and have had wonderful experiences. We make it a Father's Day ritual to go to brunch at the restaurant every year and have never been disappointed until now. But since you asked, the restaurant was hot and muggy, and the wait staff including our waitress were dripping with sweat. The mimosa offered with the brunch was room temp and so were the pasta salads.Temps on all of the food seemed off at the buffet. Not a place you would really like to linger around for conversation. After we finished our meal — the waitress was very busy with another table and we sat for at least 10 minutes trying to get her attention. Since all of our other experiences were good — I'm just going to say that the restaurant was having a bad day.
Wonderful Dining Experience
Our family has had Sunday brunch at least once a year for two decades at the Woodlands Restaurant when visiting the Galena area. The food, service, and atmosphere have always met or exceeded our expectations.

Nice brunch but very overpriced. Need more selection for vegetarians.
We brought a group of high school students here and they loved it!
Their Easter brunch was GREAT.
However their all you could eat Prime Rib the night before, I was not impressed with at all.
Excellent service. steak, shimp excellent.
Services was exceptional. Mushroom steak and Grilled Jumbo Shrimp were excellent. Chamomile salmon tasted fishy. I had salmon on Christmas eve. Salmon was grilled and excellent tasting. Told my daughter about it and both ordered salmon but disappointed with white sauce and fishy taste. Everything else was Excellent especially the salad dressing. We would recommend this restaurant many ways for special occasions, romantic evening, or for a good of people. It was great.
When in Galena this is a must. Great food, service and wonderful views.
Wonderful as always!
Chris served us and made our valentines weekend even more special. Steve helped with a wonderful treat. Great food and beautiful view!
A gem in Galena
We enjoyed the most delicious special New Year's Eve dinner. What a gourmet treat and the server, Jay, was exceptional. We have dined here several times and always have had a great experience.
