Wokcano - Downtown LA Ratings and Reviews
Great Food Great Service
It was my birthday and my guest enjoyed every moment of our experience at Wokono. The food is delicious and always served hot and fresh. Our server was wonderful and the ambiance is fantastic
The fried rice was way way salty ... The pot stickers had no taste ... Just bland and boring ... The fish collar was way too fishy and dripping oil ... It was such a waste of time and calories !!!!
Love this place!
I always love my experiences here! The food is delicious and very affordable. Perfect for date night and a few cocktails!
Shrimp Shanghi lo mein was excellent for only anadditional $4 includes miso soup and salad. Entire entree total cost is around $18
Delicious and affordable!
This place is a gem! Great tasting food, amazing prices, wonderful atmosphere. The portions are huge and you get quality food. The waitress was also every pleasant. I loved this place and would come visit again no doubt.
Good food but noise level a bit high
Good food, but a bit noisy for business lunch . Recommend for casual lunch and friends gathering that don't require quiet ambience.
ample portions and variety
Very nice range of different types of dishes, and generous servings. This is a more versatile choice than some other sushi restaurants.
Great lunch hangout
My co-workers and I love coming here for lunch. The food is excellent and the service is great. Make sure you have a reservation if you plan on dining during regular lunch hours because this place is PACKED!!
Don't order the orange chicken
I had the orange chicken, it was terrible. Very dry and chewy. The price was high for this low quality meal.
Went there for a "within-an-hour" lunch (as stated on the reservation, and we had an awesome waitress who seemed to read my mind for everything - got the fork (I don't use chopsticks); gave us hot sauce - my colleagues wanted them - all without us asking . . got me a better tea when the first one was too strong for my taste . . got our order very quickly - food was awesome - she checked on us in a very timely manner (not too much and not too little - just right) . . . a perfect lunch . . . .
Pretty good experience
Went here for Valentines Day Dinner. Was not upset by anything. Food was tasty, although I would have preferred it to be more spicy.

Definitely book a reservation for lunch on a weekday. It was packed, but we were seated immediately and the food and service were great. As always, Wokcano is reliable if a tad overpriced. But enjoyable nonetheless.

We waited for more than 45 mins for our food and that's letting our waitress know that we've been waiting a long time. The manager came over, explained what happened and apologized for making us wait. Not only did the manager give us a complimentary grilled salmon dish, our entire lunch was on the house. Thank you, Wokcano! Food was most excellent!
This makes me sad
I was really excited to try Wokano after hearing a lot of good things from friends and co-workers. The service here was friendly, but super slow. we waited for almost an hour for our food to be served. When it was time to get the check, we basically had to run someone down to get their attention. The food here is just your normal American style Asian cuisine, nothing special. My friend had actually ordered her Pad Thai to be extra spicy, but it had no spice to it at all. Overall, we were disappointed.
Good Food, Bad Service
We made a reservation and were seated immediately upon our arrival. However, we waited 10-15 minutes for someone to greet us. Finally, a girl came and took our drink order and returned with our drinks. We went on to order with her, which is when the service started going downhilll. My mother is Korean and speaks poor English, but was trying to order as best as she could. She also tried making conversation with the waitress by asking questions about the history of the restaurant. Our waitress very rudely snapped at her saying, "I don't even know what you're saying" with a very rude tone. I could not believe this. I then ordered for my mother to get the waitress away from us. When our food arrived, we asked the food runner for a couple of soy dishes. About 10 minutes passed by and he did not return, so we figured he may have gotten busy and forgotten. Our waitress came by so we asked her to bring them. Right after she left, the food runner returned with the dishes (whoops!). The waitress returned to our table and very rudely looked at us and said "Oh so you asked someone else too? Great" and threw the soy dishes on the table and walked away. She ignored us until we were finished with our food. She then returned and very sweetly handed us the bill. I have been a waitress for six years and have never found this type of attitude acceptable when dealing with guests. I understand it may have been busy, which is fine! We don't need constant attention...just please don't be disrespectful and hold a bad attitude with us until it's time for us to pay and tip you. The food was wonderful, the restaurant was beautiful, but our service was horrible.
This place is amazing !! My husband and I fell in love with this place . Service was awesome . Good drinks. We will definitely go back !
I have always loved this restaurant and try to eat there when I am in LA. This trip I took a colleague there for dinner. We were seated promptly and the service and food were great. We were very hungry and ordered the dinners that came with soup and salad. The soup and salad came to the table at the same time which was ok but we had a small table and had to juggle plates. The main dishes came way too fast! We were not even halfway through the first course so there were even more plates and the dinners sat on the table while tried to finish the first course. The waiter asked if we wanted to send the mains back to the kitchen to keep them warm but by that time we were hurrying and I didn't want them to dry out under heat lamps. All and all I love the restaurant and will definitely go back but will order appetizers first and then order the main courses.
1st time there
It was a great restaurant to go too. The food was great and the service was excellent
excellent lunch menu and close by the office.

Always consistent food and service. One of my favorite places in DTLA.
Amazing food but poor service.
I came here with a group of 4 gals for a going away dinner. Everything we ordered was beyond tasty and came out super fast. My only tiff was the service... It was awful! Our server was either having a bad day, or just a rude person in general. She was very aggressive and seemed annoyed to be even helping us. Aside from the service, the ambience was perfect, food was tasty and location is prime.

Great food at reasonable prices
Happening place with great food. Very large portions! The Monkey Brain was must as was the tuna on crispy rice cakes! Both sushi and Chinese cuisine were excellent. They also have an excellent saki flight.

The service was fantastic from the hostess, to the gentleman filling our water glasses to our waiter. They were on top of it without being ontop of us.
Thought by the price rating this would be upscale
This restaurant was ranked as pricey on Open Table so I expected an upscale restaurant. I was visiting from NYC and that's usually a fair indicator of the experience to expect. Instead the football (Raiders) game was on in front of me and in back of me in the restaurant. This is a place where diners "do a California Roll" instead of ordering a California Roll. By this I mean this is suburban mall sushi. In nearly each order there was a creamy sauce rolled inside, or cream cheese. This isn't authentic. And, this from the Pacific Coast? I knew enough to ask if "crab" meant "imitation crab meat" and thankfully the waiter was honest with me. The lobster and crab roll had real lobster and real crab. After being attentive for the ordering period the waiter disappeared for the remainder of the service. The busboy found the waiter to refill the water in my glass and to bring the check. It's a bar with a sushi service, not a restaurant that serves drinks. There are better, I'd hope, in Downtown LA. Perhaps a trip over to Little Tokyo is the way to go.
I loved the food and drinks service was great.
The food was great the service was great drinks were the bomb. The only problem was the air conditioner was not working well.

Food was ok crab roll was imitation-and not the real crab. Sake was good , rainbow rolls had one type of fish wrapped with avocado instead of other fishes. Crab roll was much better than Other places. The place looks old and needs an update.service was good although one of the sous chef could not understand English , Japanese only .which is a good thing for sushi place. I guess I have to learn Japanese :)

Went for dinner with a co-worker to discuss some work items over dinner. The food and service were great. It was quite loud though, hard to have a good conversation.
Overall I had a pleasant experience. Next time make sure that the servers are paying attention to the needs of their customers and making sure they have what they need and what they asked for that does not require coming from the kitchen ie: sugar, ice, refill.
We enjoyed our meal at Wokcano. The host was able to accommodate us with a quiet table as the place was very busy and noisy. The food was great! Some of the best we had in LA.
Great place to go
The food and service are great. The noise level is very low. Comfortable place to talk and eat

The Waitress Halee was the WORST ever We had 6 people at talbel 301 around noon. She took our order. Never returned, our food was distributed by someone else, who had no idea who ordered what. No one checked to see if things tasted right or anything. Luckily the Chefs are pretting consitant with the dishes. Halee returned to collect the bill, and when someone asked her to break a $100 bill she said " I dont do that, you have to get up and go to the front desk to do that" WHATTTT!? I have never in my life had to do that. I normally Love this restaurant, but this experience was very dissappointing !
I brought a group of coworkers to celebrate one of them leaving and her birthday. The food was great and service was fast overall. The only problem was an issue with their credit card machine that kept declining our company credit card! After trying 3 different credit cards, the staff at Wokcano finally realized it was their machine and figured out another way to charge our card.
Our waiter was non existent and would disappear for lengths of time without checking up on us. And when he was there he was quick to leave.
food was tasty, vegetables were fresh, but each entree could easily serve 2-4 people as a main course. Fried rice wigh salmon had generous amounts of salmon and it was perfectly cooked.
The quality of the food has went down since the owners are no longer in store. I was hoping that wouldn't happen but it did. I notice the prices went up and the quality went down. I'm sure Karen and her husband would hate to hear this but is what it is👎😕
