Vivace Ratings and Reviews
a new gem
Everything about Vivace was fantastic, from the inviting atmosphere, to it's wonderful food. The arancini was an appetizer I felt I could eat over and over again. They were the perfect size and the spicy tomato sauce only brought out more of it's flavor. I enjoyed the spinach pasta on my first visit, and I think that will become my regular dish at Vivace. The pasta wasn't heavy or greasy, it was simple but still full of flavor, and it was hearty. During my second visit I had the orechiette pasta and everything about the pasta was like taking a bite right out of italy. The sausage paired well with the fennel and brocolli rabe, and I loaded up on pecorino and parmesan cheese. I obviously saved room for dessert, and their chocolate hazlenut sundae is so delicious, and it's perfectly sweet. It doesn't give you a toothache or leave you feeling full to the brim, but it's the perfect amount of sweetness. If you want something more indulgent, then their chocolate molten cake is the one for you. I love Vivace, and I am going back for more.
A great find
What started out as a wedding ceremony/reception/dinner; it turned out to be a great meal. We returned about 6 weeks later - our group had the specials, pasta and Eggplant Parmesan. Everything was delicious and we are bent on going back.
It's All Good
Met for luncheon (three) and the food was very good indeed. Salads, entrees and dessert. The wine list is large and the wine selected (by us) was very nice. Service was timely and efficient. I could see that parking may be an issue - although it was not for our party. Will return!

Should Have Come Here Sooner
Just moved back to Belmont after about a 2 year hiatus. I had always meant to try Vivace but just never had the opportunity. On Sunday night, my mom and I were pretty tired from some work we were doing and I wanted to take her to a really good meal. The reviews were terrific and the menu looked sublime. We were not disappointed. The Arancini were incredibly delicious and so was the Bresaola. We shared them both. Then we shared the fish special which was sea bass with big meaty beans that tasted like potatoes in a rich almost broth like sauce. The fish was melt in your mouth tender and rich - cooked perfectly. The service was great and I wish I could remember our servers name so I could give him a shout out. I will be back often.
Outstanding experience everyone licked their plate
Only issue was no short ribs or Osso Bucco otherwise all was well and everyone liked their meals.

Our Neighborhood Gem
Great spot to eat in the Carlmont neighborhood of Belmont. The setting is nice and less noisy than most restaurants these days. The food is very nice and the wait staff and owner friendly and effective. Parking is not bad being a small town area with possibly a short walk from the surrounding neighborhood. What more can you hope for in a nice dinning experience. Enjoy!
Vivace Ristorante Excellent!!
Very special restaurant on the Peninsula -- try it, you'll love it.
Long time patron.. dependable fare.
Been going to Vivace for 16 years now, its a very nice restaurant: upscale, great italian food, in our neighborhood... so we can get there and out easily. In fact it was the first "dinner out" for our child when they were 2 weeks old! i had the special meat lasagna this time around. It was delicious, and great portion. My companions had the carpaccio+salad as well as the pizza. Overall a great experience
A perfect place for any occasion, I often take clients to lunch here and they are always impressed. Also, very romantic place for my wife and I!!
NICe atmosphere good food
I Like this place. The food is always the same quality. The chef even accepted to make some changes in the food for us.I will go back to try the pizza. And then go back and try something else on the menu. The wine list is very good and well priced. So I'll definitely be going back.
The service and food were outstanding! The menu had a varied selection, and everything that was ordered at our table did not disappoint. We arrived at 5:30, and by 7 the dining area was full. So make sure to make reservations. We will be returning again based on this last visit.

Love the salmon dish! Love the bread! Love the menu! Love the service! Love it all. However, I had 6:30p reservations on a Tuesday night and they didn't sit us until 7:15p.
Love the dessert, can not go wrong. Brick oven pizza is the best. Pear martini is a must have.
Great Dining Experience
Our party of four enjoyed every course of dinner on a Saturday night at Vivace. The noise level was very moderate for a modern restaurant even tho there was a lively (and Happy) crowd. The reserved table was ready for us right on time, service was professional and friendly. The crispy calamari appetizer was done very lightly and the best I have ever . The fish - Branzini (sp?) was nicely done and the salads and pasta dish were excellent. All portions were generous. The wine list is impressive but expensive - however we were able to find some moderate priced wines that were reasonable and complimented the food. This was our first dinner at Vivace but we plan to return often.

Valentine's Day Experience
Me and my boyfriend came here for Valentine's Day and it was wonderful. Not only was it one of the only nice restaurants in the local area that didn't have a prix fixe menu for Valentine's Day, but it was delicious to boot. We arrived for our reservation about 15 minutes early and even though the place was fairly busy they sat us immediately. Me and my boyfriend like to take our time at restaurants and our waiter never once rushed us into ordering or finishing our food. I highly recommended the pappardelle. It was delicious. Awesome bread too. Would definitely go back!!
50th wedding anniversary
Booked a 5pm Saturday dinner reservation to celebrate my in-laws 50h wedding anniversary for a party of 6. As this was an early reservation, most tables were empty. Nonetheless, we were sat a the kitchen entrance, undoubtedly the worst table in the house. A request for a change was not granted. If we were walk ins, I could understand. But we made a special reservation well in advance.
Great local place
Vivace has become a regular for us. We always get good service and food. Price of drinks are high however so we will be having cocktails at home in the future.

Great food and ambiance. Amar is an outstanding waiter!
This was my second time having dinner here. Both were a birthday get together for a friend and both times we were happy with the staff and with the food...so good! I just visited Rome and the food at Vivace took me back there.
Good place for relaxed dinner
Seated promptly on a Wednesday evening, in a largely full restaurant. Server was capable and friendly, and food came in good timing. The fish (my friend had snapper, I had sea bass) was excellent. Tiramisu was average. Overall, a good place.
Always a good pick
There are a few restaurants on the peninsula that you can always count on. Vivace is one of the them. The food and service is consistently great. This is a good option if you are looking for a smaller-sized restaurant with a nice ambiance and great Italian food.
Branzino to die for!
We had family in town and took them to this neighborhood favorite. We were not disappointed as the friendly and professional staff did an--as usual--outstanding job. There are many longtime favorites on Vivace's menu and some nice new additions among the specials. This was the first time we found branzino there and it was to die for! It was beautifully presented, delicious and had melt-in-your-mouth texture. Bravo, Vivace! We'll be back soon!
very impressive. food were very good and tasty.
Pro -it would be a place where I would like to return with my husband and other couples. Con - drinks for 2 of colleagues where forgotten; the lemonade were more like water infused with lemon; felt a bit rushed after lunch was served (ex: requested for additional oil/balsamic dip with the additional bread for lunch - why was it collected and the basket of bread left there?)
The Best Little Restaurant in Belmont!
Vivace is, by far, my favorite Italian restaurant in Belmont, and one of the only restaurants in our little town! Seriously, this restaurant is consistently above average on every rating all the time. My favorite dinner, which is their Rissotto, has never been equaled at any other restaurant I've visited, and my husband almost always has the Osso Bucco for the same reason. The owner, Michael, is usually on-site, talking with customers and making sure everything is running smoothly. I always bring or recommend Vivace to my friends and out-of-town guests. Be sure to make a reservation because too many people have sent this type of review and the restaurant is always hopping!
Our regular go-to weekend treat
My wife and I dine out two or three nights on most weekends, and we almost invariably enjoy one of those meals at Vivace. It's a no-brainer. We are not "foodies" and we prefer to dine out where we are confident of the quality of the dining experience, rather than seeking out the latest hot venue or chef. Most importantly, we go for the food. Vivace uses the highest-quality ingredients, carefully prepared and consistently excellent. Of course, excellent food can only be thoroughly enjoyed if it is competently served, and here Vivace excels as well. The hosts and waitstaff evidently enjoy working there, as they are friendly, helpful and thoughtful. As regulars, we are always greeted as friends. The dining rooms themselves are comfortable and attractive, appropriately lighted and always neat and very clean. We love sitting in the room with the gas fireplace. The bar is comfortable and welcoming, with a happy buzz, offering a few small tables and booths and two TVs showing sports channels (but always silent - this is by no means a "sports bar"). The bartenders are quick and attentive and always ready to suggest a drink or build one to your specifications. The wine list is fairly large, and reasonably priced. Vivace is a very good value, with a $$+ menu. Although the newcomer may think the prices a tad bit high, it would not have been by sheer luck that they thoroughly enjoyed their dining experience -- they can be sure of that every time, and that is worth every dollar.
A neighborhood Gem for sure!
Fabulous food, lively scene no matter what night you go! A definitely go-to place and will be back of years to come.
NY din with the bestie
Had a delicious dinner, great wine, fabulous service and definitely coming back
Had reservation for 6:30PM. had to wait until 7PM to be seated, got a good booth table
Vivace has been a favorite of mine since they opened years ago. The food is excellent and service is always great. A real Winner!
Great food great service
The menu is that of a typical Italian restaurant. We had the salmon it was excellent. My husband had the veal and also said it was great. The deserts were also excellent.Went on New Year's Eve and was worried because some restaurants lower the quality, especially if they are super busy. But there was no disappointment.I will go again and try some pizza and pasta dishes. Service was also great.
Great during the year but NEVER on New Years Eve!
I want to start off by saying Vivace is one of our favorite local restaurants. We eat there often during the year. We love it so much that we wanted to spend New Years Eve '15 with them. This is the 3rd year we attend Vivace on New Years's: the 1st YR was awesome, 2014 not so great & 12/31/15 was simply a huge DISAPPOINTMENT. HERE ARE THE HIGHLIGHTS: - We arrived 5 min late for our 9PM reservation but had to wait another 15 min for our table - we sat at a table at the bar along with a table full of dirty empty glasses noone ever came by to clean up - When we were finally seated, I had to ask two different folks for napkins (we got them after the appetizer and drinks) - When our waiter finally came by, his first words to us were "this has been a crazy night, I can't wait for it to be over". Not the greeting we were use to getting; he handed us our menus and off he went - THE COCKTAILS (MANHATTAN & CHAMPAGNE) WERE DELICIOUS & THE CALAMARI WAS FANTASTIC - When our waiter finally took our order; every selection we ordered, he proceeded to let us know they were out of: WHAT? it's New Year's Eve, with a LIMITED menu (my favorite was not even on there (gnocchi ); ok so we thought: lamb osso bucco, NY strip or lasagne would be just as great...they were out of all 3; it would have been nice if he told us when he handed us the menu. - Erik and I ordered something else and when the food arrived, it was so salty, I had to send it back...the food was OK but nothing we would order again - Erik ordered another Manhattan and when the waiter brought it, he was a table away, handed it to Erik and asked Erik to 'hand over' the empty glass - he could not even walk over to our table. - Our meal was over and typically Vivace waiters come over and ask if we left room for dessert...BUT OUR WAITER CAME BY AND SAID, "YOU'RE DONE? WOULD YOU LIKE THE CHECK", yes please, NO DESSERT FOR US I GUESS. Vivace, we will visit you again but NEVER AGAIN ON NEW YEARS EVE!
NYE was very nice
Had a 8:30 reservation on NYE. We actually ended up taking a table in the bar because the wait would have been longer. It worked out very nicely. The bar wasn't that crowed at that time of night and we had a very nice waiter. Food was good. Bumped into a lot of people we knew which made it even more of a special occasion. They also gave us party hats and other items which we took with us to our next event. I would recommended it. I had the Veal and was a very good portion.
Nice atmosphere, but missteps in service
I really like the atmosphere at Vivace, especially for a sleepy little bedroom community like Belmont, but my last experience there wasn't great. This was New Year's Eve and may not be indicative of their regular service, but after checking in early for an 8:15pm reservation and being told we could be seated in about 5 minutes, my dinner companion and I told the hostess we'd get a drink at the bar and wait for her to get us (we were about four steps away from the hostess stand in our seats). We waited at least 5 minutes for the bar tender to look at us, say he'd be with us, or ask us what we wanted to drink. When we realized it had been almost 45 minutes since we checked in I went to the hostess stand to ask for a status. The hostess asked if I'd checked in, then apologized when I told her we had checked in a long time ago, and had been waiting for her at the bar. By the time she seated us we had long since finished our drinks and paid for them (after much prompting of the bar tender to take our money). She did give us a very nice booth to sit in, and the waiter greeted us promptly, but I was a little disappointed with the value of the meal overall given the prices (Carpaccio was good but pasta just so-so).
