Veranda Fireside Lounge & Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
Excellent lunch and service!
Excellent lunch and service!
We went on a Monday for a late afternoon lunch. They were setting up for burger Mondays with an amazing array of burger toppings in a chafing dish self-serve station. I wish I could remember them all but they had the favorites like bacon and mushrooms but also about 8 more warm toppings and they hadn't set out all of the others like guacamole, etc. Very impressive. The view here is so tranquil on the patio with a variety of birds, swaying trees, and a fireplace. LOVE it!!
Great Patio Dining
Love to go to the Inn for outdoor dining on a nice day.

The Veranda is a pleasant way to eat outdoors and has quality food. Service is always excellent and the staff is very knowledgeable as well as friendly.

Great spot for breakfast, Greg was great!
We ate lunch on the patio and the views were amazing! It will probably be a little too warm in the summer, but for late fall into spring, the outdoor patio was beautiful with views of the golf course. I was expecting a brunch menu and they were only serving lunch at noon, but the appetizers were great and our server was very attentive. The flatbread/pizzas were good and the salads had large portions.
The venue is very appealing but the food is below the standard one would expect for a resort.
Best meal, best weather
I attended the Rancho Bernardo Inn for a conference and we had a reception on the terrace. The dining room manager went out of his way to accommodate our request to stay and dine there that evening. Service was outstanding and the fish special (ahi) was superb. Can't remember a better meal in a better place.
Looked forward to sitting outside over the beautiful golf course and we could have made that choice but with rain off and on, we sat inside, also a nice setting. Our Veranda salads with salmon added ($24) were tasty but almost undressed. More dressing was quickly provided when we asked. Service was excellent, warm and friendly. The creme brûlée that arrived at the end of the meal came with a candle and gerbera daisies on the plate, a lovely touch as they had been told of my friend's birthday. Only when I got to the car, did it occur to me that the bill amount seemed high. The receipt indicated that I had been charged $9.00 for a large creme brûlée. We did not order any dessert, so when it was delivered, I assumed it was the birthday gratis, that many restaurants offer. It was delicious and beautifully presented, but shouldn't an order be placed if you are going to be charged for any item? We enjoyed the lunch and the setting and I would go back, but I would surely question beforehand, the policy on birthday desserts.

Love RB Inn, but a bit disappointed in the food. Will go again and hope it's improved. In particular the cob salad was very bland. Try spicing it up with curry powder or something. Presentation great. Servers great and location is superb.
The food was very good and service was relaxed but attentive. We thoroughly enjoyed a shady lunch on the patio on a hot day!
Beautiful, romantic outdoor setting
My wife and I enjoyed a wonderful Valentine's Day dinner at the Veranda, and I would enthusiastically recommend Veranda to friends. The food was generally delicious (tabouleh salad, pretzel bites, seared scallops, cheesecake) and pretty reasonably priced. The RBI bread pudding was surprisingly ordinary, in contrast with everything else. Rather dense, and not particularly flavorful. Outdoor patio was very comfortable with individual heaters for each table, despite the cool of the February evening. There was a musical duo playing (Brazilian music?) rather too loudly over by the fireplace and fire pit, but at our location on the far side of the patio it was fine. The music was actually great, but the volume was still not a great idea for Valentine's... The service was quite spectacular, timely and anticipatory of our every wish. All in all a delightful evening.
One of the friends that dined in with us, has been experiencing difficult time period, and Veranda Fireside Lounge &Restaurant couldn't have been more better at providing such a pleasant and lovely time of recuperation for all of us. I have been eyeing on this place, but never got to visit until now. The inn is just stunning. Sweet and calm. The lounge has great view of the golf course and the water fountain as well. The warmth of the sun was a cherry on top. Lewis, our server, was very accommodating. We originally made a reservation for 5, and two more girls ended up coming. Despite the last minute change, they still provided a great experience for us. He was super attentive and very friendly yet not overpowering either. Food was great as well. We all ordered sandwich of some sort, but it may have been a better idea to mix the menu up with salad or more refreshing plates. It got a bit too heavy towards the end, but great nonetheless. You HAVE to try one of their lemonade drinks yumm! Thank you guys for cheering us up with great service, ambiance and time when we were all weary from an unfortunate event! Thank you once again
Wait staff was apparently newly promoted busboy. Spoke little english, didn't know the menu or mention specials. One order wasn't even filled by the kitchen. Terrible service, greasy-fatty oso buco. Have a drink and burger on the patio but nothing else!
Nice - but ENOUGH crazy parking lot construction
Arrived at the Rancho Bernardo Inn via the north-east entrance only to find out the parking lot access was closed AGAIN. The property had the lot closed in November and December 2015. Had to drive out and come through the south entrance a few miles away and 10 minutes later, only to find the parking lot overflowing. Tried to park on nearby public street and got yelled at by homeowners. Some homeowners put orange traffic cones on the street and would not allow public parking. Incredible hassle just to get into the place. Had the caesar salad. Very bland and too expensive. Used to be better...not sure what and why they changed it. Recommend you stay away until the construction is done, unless you enjoy the parking headaches and nasty neighbors.
We recently made a reservation at the Inn, only to have a wet day. The restaurant called to see if we would like to move inside, since the outside dining area was wet. This I thought was very good. The interior is very nice and the food was great. Would highly recommend this restaurant.
Nice venue, but food was disappointing
A friend recommended this restaurant as a breakfast choice, as he takes his parents there often. The venue was very nice, and would even be better in warmer weather when dining outside is possible. They had the place decorated really nice with "classic" and classy Christmas decorations, even a life-size gingerbread house! We got seated next to a window, which would have been better had that not meant a major draft from the poorly insulated and single-paned doors there. My wife kept her jacket on throughout breakfast. We ordered from the menu rather than settling for the buffet, and unfortunately, the food was largely unremarkable. Adequate certainly, but I had higher expectations. We might be back when the weather is warmer, but probably not.
Beautiful but cold
The Rancho Bernanrdo Inn is a beautiful spot for the holidays. Truly everything one could wish in a Christmas scene. We decided to have breakfast at the restaurant rather than the more formal brunch the hotel was serving in the afternoon. We were looking for breakfast foods rather than the more savory menu offered at brunch. The buffet that was being served was the weekday menu (as it was Friday), which was more limited than the weekend buffet which we had read about and anticipated. It was not a big deal, we just ordered off the menu. The food was good, the service was friendly (if slow), and the view was beautiful. My only complaint was that every time someone opened the doors to the patio we were hit with a blast of cold air. Also, the interior of the restaurant is a little dark. Nice experience overall.
Was anticipating a return to this resraurant, but was truly disappointed. Oredered scallops which were served uncooked, barely seared, on top of boiled potato spears. We returned that meal and ordered a lamb shank as replacement. This came out with a gravy that was dry on surface, obviously sitting for a while, and the.lamb was truly stone cold in center. Pre-made meal which they failed to nreheat. We left without eating, have never done that anywhere. Chef needs to get the kitchen in order and quickly.

First time at the Veranda and staying at the Inn! Absolutely amazing! Came to celebrate my anniversary and the staff was very kind and accommodating which made my anniversary even greater! They had love music in front of the fireplace as well. The musician took requests, people danced and our meal was delicious! 10/10 recommend and I typically never leave such a highly praised review! :)
The Veranda for lunch
We have visited The Veranda many times over the years. In recent years, it has been made more comfortable with plenty of umbrellas so that you can get the views without baking in the sun.
Fireside Lounge - great for outdoor dining
Live music, outdoor seating, golf course view, heat lamps, great food, and service. Great destination for relaxed outdoor dining.
Our waitress Rosa was very attentive. She made my wife's birthday memorable. She not only gave us a Cream Brûlée with candles, she also gave us 2 glasses of champagne and 4 chocolate covered strawberries. Best service we have ever received in fining in a restaurant. Will definite come here again.
Veranda was so flexible when we changed from 5 persons to 6 and we then changed from outside to inside. They were pleasant and were able to accommodate us without a problem. Food was great too.
We specifically came here because we thought it would be air conditioned inside but it wasn't. The day was very hot and humid as was the restaurant. Food was OK and service was nice. But we were uncomfortable.

Been here a few times and always been pleased until this recent visit...found the food disappointing. We tried the rib eye and the lamb chops and both were so fatty that we each only got a few bites of good meat. Flavor was good just not much of it to enjoy because it was so fatty.

The service was extremely poor. I ordered a hamburger well done and it came out rare. My wife had the prime rib sandwich. They should ha called it prime fat sandwich. It was loaded with fat. The service was very slow and the place was probably less than half full. It will be a long time before we go back. Watch out for Rebecca she has a big chip on her shoulder. In our open table reservation we noted we were celebrating a birthday. They never even acknowledged it.
We had the Monday special of burgers, which were wonderful. The burger was well cooked, just as we asked for, the toppings were great. However, the potato wedges were cold not what you would expect. The service was a little slow but there were plenty of people there so I can understand this. Overall I would recommend this to my friends, but hope they get hot fries.
Great summer dinner on the patio with live music. Great for date night or to meet with a group of friends.
Awesome staff and setting
We came with a large group of children to celebrate a birthday. I had read that this venue was family friendly. Once we arrived I almost felt bad bringing a large group of kids because the venue is that nice. The staff was amazing and very accommodating. We will be back but next time we will leave the kids at home :) Maybe mid week there are more kiddos but we were dining on a Saturday night and there was maybe one other family there with young children. The staff went above and beyond. Excellent food, cocktails and view. Also we had a large table & part of our party arrived late. The hostesses were beyond understanding and accommodating. The speed of service was perfect. We never felt rushed & our server was very knowledgable.

The best thing about this restaurant is the veranda eating area. The food was mediocre at best, the service very slow, and the general ambiance "tired"
Great ambience! Great view! Great food!!
Went to Veranda for dinner with a friend at sunset! Had a great view overlooking mountains and golf course. The menu had large vairety and the sea salt salmon was delicious!
Nice for outdoor dining
We took friends to the Veranda for lunch on Sat., July 11. We were immediately seated outside and the hostess made sure the umbrellas kept the sun from shining directly on us. The food was very good; two of us had salads (Cobb and Market) and two of us had Cuban sandwiches. All of us were pleased by the quality of the food. Service was excellent.
If you like your dinner hot and sweaty
Don't go on a hot and humid day or evening because the air conditioning in that room is pathetic and evidently can't be turned up. We were a sweaty mess and it was 6 - 8:30 at night.
Casual and comfortable., with a great view of the golf course. Food was good. I would have given it a 5, but one person in our party (me) didn't like the pad tai turkey wrap. It was dry and bland. I've been here several times and I would go back.
Servers didn't impress...
This is my second trip to this restaurant. I wanted to give the restaurant a second chance to redeem itself on its poor service the first time. It didn't redeem itself. I never saw a bus boy and our waitress was overburdened and never checked back after the food was dropped. The outdoor dining is the draw, but the service negates the atmosphere. The food was okay. I'm giving it a pass in the future.
Ambiance is everything
5 people celebrating graduation, seated at round table to the left, lots of elbow room, excellent service, nice views. Service of quick, server was knowledgeable and accommodating. Food was excellent- Our 5 orders included: lamb, sea bass, chicken, filet and burger, market salad is huge, fresh, outstanding. Sea bass was the evening special- nicely done. Chicken, filet, and lamb all cooked perfectly. After dinner, 3 of us stayed and moved to the fireplace and couches along the wall near the evening entertainment- solo guitarist, singer. As night fell, the fireplace and fire pit were wonderful in the cool air with sweet folksy music, comfortable banter, friendly atmosphere.
I expected more.
I went to this particular place because I received an email stating they had live music every day between 6P to 9P. I made reservations but when I was sat down, it was very far from the music so we asked to sit closer and we were granted a closer seat but still not as close as I was hoping for. Then the live music was not much of a show. They would play for about 10 minutes then the two in the band (who seemed to be a couple) would take breaks for 20+ minutes. So in the close to two hours we were there, we maybe heard 25-30 minutes of music. I was very disappointed. As far as the service, our waiter was excellent! Very attentive and polite. The entire staff that we came in contact with seem to be the same. They got heaters closer to us as we were cold and they brought enough warmth to take my cold away. The food was good, drinks were great and desert was awesome!
I have frequented here many times. As with the rest of the RB Inn the food and service is excellent. It has a great outside ambiance.
