Trombino's Bistro Italiano Ratings and Reviews
The server was blunt, but overall the service was not lacking and our meal was excellent.
We had not seen my fiancés family in a year....
We added two family members to our reservation so it took an additional 40 minutes to be seated. We finally sat in an atrium that had no ventilation. (two ceiling fans would be a good investment by the owner.) We were flushed in the face it was so hot. After we paid the bill, we continued to sit and visit and no one ever came back. I finally got up from the table and found servers at the bar just chatting and asked if they wouldn't mind not forgetting about us, please bring water. They did. Dinner was only OKAY. I ordered a chicken under a brick dish that I thought had balsamic glaze but it was so dry I could hardly chew it. They never came back so I could not tell them how unhappy I was with the food. To go with the chicken, I ordered a creamed spinach. The spinach had so much raw garlic in it I couldn't swallow it. We picked up the tab for guest who did not complain, but I saw mostly food that was not well presented or plated. Please forgive me for being blunt, but we spent $200 for mediocre. Trombino's comes through, as always.
Even on a "Prom night," the kitchen and service came through.
Best Italian food in New Mexico!
Highly recommend the calamari appetizer. One of our party had the seafood fra diablo and loved it. Another had the shrimp scampi and it was also wonderful. Good food and service every time.

Trombino's used to be one of my favorite restaurants, but I stopped dining at this restaurant only because I went gluten-free. I think they might have started carrying GF spaghetti, but my favorite noodle is penne. I dined here on Easter Sunday with my family, and I was very happy to see they now have gluten-free penne. This means for me I will be able to once again enjoy my favorite dish - penne arabiatta. Their sauces are delicious, and now that I know they have GF penne, I plan to start frequenting Trombinos again. I highly recommend this restaurant.
It Was OK
The waiter was not on the ball this night for sure. The food was excellent as usual. My wife ordered minestrone soup and was delivered pasta y fagoli instead. Waiter could not tell the difference when it was brought to his attention. I asked for the sauce on my veal to be light and it came drowned in sauce.
We have been going to Trombino's for years. The restaurant is well organized and comfortable. Service has always been good to excellent. Several dishes are favorites, especially the spinach lasagna, which is not always available. This latest visit I had an entree salad with shrimp, apples and fresh strawberries that was truly excellent. Prices are most reasonable. Only quibble this last time: the food was noticeably more salty than in the past, even the pesto for bread. Maybe just the chef that night, and hopefully not a decision to do that to sell more drinks, because that would be very unfortunate.

Very very good…Its been a while since last there.
Everything was excellent!!! I haven't been there for many many years and found it still, to be excellent.
Very good food; loud, energetic Italian-restaurant
This was a somewhat typical family style Italian restaurant. It was louder than I was expecting, and we were seated in a crowded seating area. Our waitress was sweet and competent. The chicken marsala that I ordered was fantastic - my husband even finished it. The steak he ordered was a little gristly and fatty, but it was an okay steak overall. The apple crisp dessert was fantastic, though could have used a little more ice cream (there was about a third of a scoop on there?). Overall, a very good dining experience.

Great atmosphere. Prompt service. Food was delicious. We got a corner table and thought the noise level was quite low despite being full. We will be back!
Great Service, Disappointing Meal
We ate here on Valentine's Day, and despite it being very busy, we were quickly seated and the staff was very friendly and attentive. Unfortunately, the quality of the food left a lot to be desired. We have dined here several times over the years, and this is the first time we were disappointed with our meal. The bread was waiting on the table when we were seated and it was cold, something that surprised us as in the past it was brought to the table after we were seated, and it was always served hot. For our main meal, we ordered the Chicken Under a Brick, one of their signature dishes, and the Veal Parmesan. They seem to have changed the recipe for the chicken dish, as my wife's first reaction to it was "Wow, this is kind of bland". The veal was overcooked, burnt around the edges, and tough/grizzly. One thing we noticed about the menu is that they have expanded their seafood and steak offerings. Sadly, we think this menu change may have come at the expense of their "bread and butter" Italian dishes. Finally, a word of warning about the cost of the meal. The prices shown in their "on line" menu are about $2 per dish less than the price on the menu at the restaurant.
Only thing that beats the food is their great service.

Excellence on a crowded night
With Valentine's day coming up, we booked our table for the Friday before. Trombino's was already "gearing up" for a rush, and came through perfectly. Everything was "on point," from the seating by the Hostesses through our server's skills, and the kitchen's execution.
4 of us had dinner on a friday night. of course made at open table. at 6pm restaurant was full and there was a 30 minute wait list. there were four different items selected by the group, tilapia, sea food alfedo, chicken and veal parmigiana. all were excellent, plentiful portions and attractively presented. great time
Good / Not Great
Our reservation was for Monday night. I'm always cautious about Mondays because I'm not sure restaurants have their best staff on duty. In this case, the food was very good so the kitchen staff was good. The waiter detracted from our experience though. He hovered unnecessarily when we didn't need anything and was not helpful when we did; when we asked for advice about a wine to go with what a couple of us were eating he said he doesn't drink wine so couldn't offer any suggestions. He also didn't offer to get someone who COULD help.
Trombinos ia always fantastic, particularly the red sauce!
My wife is a food service professional with over twenty years as an industrial chef and she loved it. The Spinach Lasagna she had and the Veal Parmigiana I had tasted magnificent. We will be choosing to come here for special occasions including our 43rd anniversary June 2!
Lived in Abq for my whole life and Had not tried trombinos till Saturday night. Upon arriving for our reservation we were seated immediately , and asked what we would like to drink by the very professional looking waitress. I ordered a Bellini which arrived quickly and was very good. As the rest of our party arrived the attentive waitress took there order of drinks and promptly brought them to the table. As we looked over the menu the waitress checked in to see if we were ready to order our food and we needed more time and while we continued to decide we finished our drinks and the waitress gave us refills as needed and took other orders for drinks . We finally made our decision on what we wanted and our orders were placed . As busy as it was we received our food in a very timely manner. I ordered the chicken scalapini which was delicious as well as all the other dishes served to others at our table. Very good service, food , drinks a bit loud if looking for a quiet place to eat.

We very much enjoyed our evening in your restaurant. We were celebrating our 55th wedding anniversary. The service, drinks and food were excellent and we would happily return and bring guests or company.

This place dropped the ball tonight. When I make a dinner reservation, I don't expect to be seated 45 minutes later than the reservation time...and nothing to make up for the delay...free glass of wine? Comp a dessert?? Something! I do not understand the unapologetic attitude. Bar service was limp and the parking out front was impossible as well. Service was excellent - food not well seasoned...mediocre at best. Unhappy about this dining experience.
Trombino's always has good food with good service. Parking was an issue on a Wednesday night at 6 pm but shows how popular the restaurant is.
Jason was a great server, attentive but not at all over-bearing. The chicken, orzo and bean soup was outstanding; could have had that for dinner and been happy. Spaghetti with meat sauce/meatballs always good. Thanks for a great New Years dinner.

Our friend from NY said the pasta with pesto sauce was the best he has ever had anywhere. The house cabernet is very good and reasonably priced. I had the trout almandine and could not detect a single piece of almond. On a previous visit, I had the salmon and would opt for that again. It was very good and cooked perfectly. My spinach salad was excellent. The service was outstanding. Trombino's is the restaurant where we take all of our out of town visitors.
Good food, spotty service
The hostess desk was scattered when we arrived. We were greeted immediately, but it took ten minutes or so to be seated despite reservations. Our hostess disappeared several times and did not inform us what caused the delay. Another couple was having the same problem. However, another couple was seated immediately! Our salads were excellent, my hubby's Chicken Parmiagiana and our apple torte was great as well. My Chicken Piccatta tasted burned. Not nearly as good as the Marian Burrow's recipe I make at home. Service was excellent during our drinks and salads. Then waiter disappeared. I had to go ask for coffee refills! I am grateful they were open on Christmas Eve, but service was not up to par.
Italian Family Comfort
The food is home made, comfort food. Great atmosphere. Reminds me of a small Italian family type of restaurant that we went to years ago, but more updated. Very attentive wait staff. We will be back for all our family occasions.
Don't go across the street when you can come here for the best pizza on Achademy Road in Albquerque.
Matt Bryan and staff were excellent.
Great Appitizers. Lasagna is the best I have ever had. The wife's seafood pasta was very good. I highly recommend...
My wife and I enjoyed this spot... the food was delicious and the apple/ice cream desert is my new favorite... awesome all around..
Trambino's never disappoints

2nd visit. Huge portions. Tried fritti combo-delicious and squid cooked perfect. My chicken involtini very tasty with lots of leftovers! Will come back!
The best place to be
Some days are not good, and the most reliable way to save it is have dinner at Trombino's. Everything comme il faut :)
Trombino's Bistro Italiano
Excellent Italian food; great marinara sauce. Lot's of menu options. Yet to have a meal that was anything but excellent.
Great place for business dinners and lunches
Reserved a large table for a group of about 20 for a business dinner. The service was organized and the food was good and fresh. The restaurant was quiet enough for us to talk business.
