Welcome to Toloache (pronounced toh-lo-AH-tchay), chef-owner Julian Medina’s contemporary Mexican bistro located in the heart of the Theater District. Toloache is named after a flowering plant famed in Mexico for its use in love potions. We hope that when you dine with us you too will fall under the spell of chef Medina’s creative cooking, which incorporates seasonal and natural ingredients and more than a dozen types of chilies. Our festive, two-story space features a guacamole and ceviche bar, a wood-burning oven, and an exceptional tequila list, along with elegant decorative elements imported from Mexico. Toloache is always a safe bet. The food and drinks are delicious and made with the freshest ingredients. It’s a beautiful spot, and the service can’t be beat. They’ll take such good care of you and make sure you’re out in time for a show. If you don’t have time for dessert before a show, you should definitely come back after!

The food was very good as always, but the service was terrible last night. I had let the restaurant know we were celebrating my granddaughter‘s 10th birthday and our server never acknowledged it. She was hard to track down to get our drinks refilled. We left without even having dessert because we had spent so much time Just getting her attention. She never smiled did not have a good attitude overall. It was disappointing. We had celebrated a different birthday there about a year ago, and the experience was amazing. The manager in the server made a fuss. They were friendly we felt welcomed. This was the exact opposite.
