The Tipsy Pig Ratings and Reviews
Went in for brunch on a Friday it was a very nice place. Loved the decor the food was amazing. Try the donut holes and drinks are great. Would definitely go back
Well as always they rock!
I had an Open Table reservation for 9pm even tho we wanted 8pm, 9pm was all that was left. So we showed up anyways and hoped for the best. As it turned out the staff after verifying our reservation was able to seat us (3) for dinner at 8pm. Service was prompt, polite and friendly. The food was exactly as I had expected, except for the dessert. They are known for their apple pie so we wanted to try it, as it turns out prep time takes 20 mins and we didnt want to wait, so we ordered what I was hoping to be the beignets with their handmade butterscotch dip which I've had in the past. Turns out they took them off the menu and replaced it with some donut holes with cream, chocolate sauces n sprinkles to dip them in. Compareable maybe but not the same. Since we didnt like them they were kind enough to take them off our bill.
A chance dinner location
We were staying at our daughter's in the Marina while she was on business travel. We wanted to find a spot nearby that was open early, as we had a long drive ahead after Friday evening traffic died down. Our waiter Luke was highly attentive and helpful. We started with martinis while we looked over the menu. It was a cool winter evening, so we decided on some classic comfort food. We had pork sliders and bacon macaroni and cheese. The food was delicious, and the portions were nicely sized. We'll definitely be back.
Great food n drinks
I have been here 3 times, the first time as a yelp hot spot pick but the long line outside deterred me from staying. So I figured if that was a usual scene it must be good. So my second attempt was more strategic, I made a reservation on Open Table for a weekday around 5pm. Turned out great, no waiting in line even got to pick my table. Turns out that their happy hour was exactly what i was looking for, great eats n drinks at a discount. 3rd trip was a Sunday around 5 as well, thank goodness for the reservation or it would have been a repeat of my first attempt. This trip still had the great eats but no happy hour discounts and the kitchen doesnt open till 5:30 so we grabbed a drink an looked for a seat, only no seats available and the crowd out back that had some alspace were totally unwilling to share n meet new folks (their loss as they would have gained greatly if they knew who was asking). It was eeally crowded and it was the staff who made it turn out better than it started off. They seated us a few mins early and took great care of us. Unfortunetly I ended up leaving my leftovers but the food, drinks, and staff are worth a return trip. Only it will be a weekday during happy hour. Thank you Open Table for being a big part of our opertunity.
The food is killer.
I love the pot pie, fried chicken and drink menu. It is really loud, so if you want to have a late night business meeting, this is not the place for you. If you want to eat really great food, go here.

We really wanted to love this place. Don't get me wrong, the food was really good but waiting over an hour to get our food without our server coming to check in was not ok at all. I get it, I'm also in the business and understand that good food takes time, but I can't understand the lack of communication from the server. I also cannot understand how the family 2 tables over who got sat 5 minutes after was done and had their check before we even saw our food. Nor why the table in front of us which clearly ordered 15 minutes before had their full meal way ahead of us (maybe because they were friends of the staff? We saw at least 3 staff members greeting them by name) I used to serve, and sometimes missed inputting a table's order, but I made sure the food was rushed or at least would communicate and kept my guests happy and entertained. I wish I could go back, but I will have to pass on the future. We were extremely disappointed to kick off this Valentines weekend like this... -OE

Great little pub. Cool share plates. Awesome Apple pie. Great service good jazz band.
Had heard and read good things about it, but it failed to meet any of those reviews. Poor draft beer selection, food was over priced and over promised for what it was. Don't order food here if you're hoping to have a meal, fish tacos were about 4" wide, pot pie about 6" long (but advertised to share). Service was good for the offerings delivered to the table.
We are not the target audience at the Tipsy Pig - two retired couples but it was so enjoyable. Staff attentive, friendly, helpful! We were in the "middle" area and it feels like a wonderful English pub. Two had the pork sliders and said they were great and 2 of us had chicken pot pies. Both said the chicken pot pie was the best ever! Great crust, wonderful filling. Nice wine list - a very good experience on a busy Sunday night after the NFL playoff games.
Could be a great tapas option
I chose The Tipsy Pig based off its fairly priced and delicious looking menu. We went on a Friday night at 7:30. While the food was quite good, we had the brussel sprouts, tuna tartare, fish tacos, and pretzel bites, the volume was a little too loud to enjoy in small, intimate groups. If you are looking for a bar with good food I would recommend this place. If you are looking for a date night option or a place to take out your family its probably too loud.
One of my favorite restaurants in San Francisco!!
One of those places that is a crowd pleaser!! I live in the peninsula and whenever someone comes to visit and we head to the city, I make sure and take them here!! Or if I ever have something to celebrate I love coming here.
Great food- not too expensive. Loved the bacon-wrapped scallops and the desserts! Great service and fun dishes that were enough to eat but not huge.

My two friends and I reserved a table for 8:30 pm. We found parking super quick and ended up there 20 minutes early. We were led to the patio for a drink while our table was getting set up. I was the DD and my friends enjoyed some beer and Strawberry Fields. A little bummed they didn't have any root beer but they did have ginger beer. Really liked the tented patio space. It was warm but still had circulation. We were then seated at a table with a view of the street by the entrance. It was a little chilly and noisy but didn't have to raise our voices too much. I am hard of hearing and found myself leaning towards my friends to hear them whenever a large party flooded in. The food was great. My friends had the hamburger and brussel sprouts. I had the butter lettuce salad. We all shared a plate of sweet potato fries and the dipping sauce was addictive! Overall, it is a good place to grab a drink and a meal but not a good place to catch up with long conversations. We felt like we overstayed our welcome by being there for about 80 minutes. Next time, I would prefer to stay on the patio.
Good food; poor service
The overall ambiance was great and the food quality was good but the timing of food delivery was awful. Everything came out at different times and we didn't receive one main dish until the end of dinner. They comped that dish but did not offer to make up for their mistake in any other way. It ruined the dining experience for me.
Food great, service below average
The food was great but the service was terrible. Several times, we had to remind the wait staff to refill drinks and the plates came out sporadically which meant there were times when we were waiting 25 minutes for a plate. At one point toward the end of the mail, we told the waitress that we needed the final plates or we were going to be late to a theater performance. The tables around us were served immediately and their service seemed to be much better. Could have been that we did not order alcohol so they were not making as much on our table.

We enjoyed a 50% off a bottle of wine during happy hour while enjoying the Ahi tarter, sweet potato fries, fish tacos, kale salad with salmon, and a chicken pot pie. My favorite is the chicken pot pie. Great comfort food on a cold winter eve. My wife loved the kale salad, while I tasted and agree.
Good reliable place tomeat
Have stopped here a number of times for an early dinner and it's always good. Half price wine during happy hour, good appetizers, creative main course options make this a reliable place for dinner when in SF.
Best find in Marina
Scallops, potatoes, sliders, it doesn't matter, it's all good.
Food better than expected
I figured being a pub that the food would be just ok but we enjoyed everything we ordered. Burger was perfectly cooked, which is rare (no pun intended) where we usually get overdone burgers despite ordering med rare. Thanks Tipsy Pig!
Dinner at the Pig
The food and atmosphere at the Tipsy Pig were great but the waiter was extremely rude to our table which really impacted our overall experience.
My recommendation would be - maybe give it a try.
Service was slow and took along time to get our drinks and meals. Mine, while somewhat tasty, was too salty. My other friend's burger was underdone and she initially got attitude from the staff and then they made it right. Overall a disappointment this time.
The Brussels Sprouts were so yummy! So was the popcorn shrimp. Chicken pot pie was so-so. The ribs were off-the-bone tender. Impressive food for a bar! Also, they had pear cider, so that's a plus for me.

Absolutely Loved this place !! Very busy and loud, especially inside the bar area. My group and I ate on their patio. Lovely and a lot less noisy. This is a cool little place with great food and great beer !! Service was outstanding. I can't wait to go back. I definitely recommend reservations to guarantee you a spot !!
Good food, fun atmosphere
Had lunch here with friends before a matinee show at the Palace of Fine Arts. We had eaten here before and doubled our order of mac 'n cheese this time! Had the Little Gems & Beets salad with a Strawberry Fields cocktail. Delicious! Service was great!

Amazing food and great service! The patio is great anytime of day. The Devil's on Horseback is an amazing sharing plate. Strawberry Fields cocktail s an excellent way to kick off a Sunday afternoon.
Post race brunch
For the past two years we've come to the tipsy pig after the Nike women's half marathon. Every time there's a vibrant atmosphere, lots of energy, and amazing food. It's one of my favorite spots to eat when I visit San Francisco, specifically for the burger, pork hash, and cocktail menu.

Food was delicious. Our six year old has celiac and the restaurant doesn't have much in the way of gluten free. Our server went out of his way to get her something and make her happy!

Our server was hopeless. Our food took over an hour to arrive and she gave a very bad excuse with no apology .. The food was nice but the service ruined our over experience . This place is great for groups but don't expect prompt service . They only had 2 servers in back garden

Great brunch place! Be sure to make a reservation or be prepared to wait
The Tipsy Pig was recommended to us and it lived up to the hype. We were there for lunch on a Sunday and it was a place of younger eaters as we were the oldest eaters (in our 60's) in the place. The ambiance was very good, the noise level was energetic but not so loud that we couldn't talk to each other. We had a burger, chicken sandwich, and smoked salmon blt. We had regular fries and sweet potato fries. The burger, to quote the one who ate it, "The best burger I've ever had. I won't be able to ever eat a regular burger again." The chicken sandwich was on a what tasted like a home made roll with just the right amount of breading and a coleslaw topping - very good! The smoked salmon blt was on wheat bread, cold smoked salmon with a cabbage topping and very good. We will return.
we made a reservation and still had to wait about half an hour to be seated, but thankfully we weren't in a rush so it was okay. We shared the beignets and I had the pork hash. Beignets are a little small for the price but their pork hash is easily the best one I've ever had. Go back when there's no game / when somehow all the rude white people in the marina are out of town. Would be perfect.
I always love the food and ambience at the Tipsy Pig. I had booked a table for some out of town visitors nearly 2 months in advance, since it is hard to get brunch reservations, specially for large groups. The food was great as usual, but the day we went the sun was extremely bright and hot and Tipsy Pig has no arrangements to add shade. We did ask the server if we could be moved to another table which was in the shade, or if there was an umbrella or even hats available. Considering we had made the reservation 2 months in advance - I was disappointed they didn't let us move to one of the empty tables. We nearly burned off while we quickly ate our food. It really took away from our experience and what was meant to be a long brunch to catch up with friends, became a short food-stop. I know the sunshine was not their fault, but I feel they should have arrangements for those rare unbearably sunny days as not everyone can tolerate a sun burn.
The Tipsy Pig Rules!
We really enjoyed the food and atmosphere! It is very lively and energetic! First off, one of the couples was running behind and I called to push our reservation 30 minutes, and the hostess said that it was no problem! And we were a party of 6! When we got there they showed us straight to our table and were just great the whole time and the place was hoppin'! I had the ribs and they they literally fell off the bone! And were good to boot! The potato salad that came with it was just as magnificent as the ribs! My wife had the Chicken Pot Pie which she highly recommends and which I concur! The herb/seasoning of the pot pie was great! Everybody in our party liked what they got even the beignets! However, I was not very impressed! They where evidently NOT made using a pot a choux! And that is the ONLY disappointment! Everything else was excellent and I look forward to eating at the Tipsy Pig again!
Great spot !
TP was recommended by a waitress working at another spot I was having lunch. My adult daughter and myself went in July 4th at 6:30 for dinner and it was hopping! Great outdoor bar area in the back of the restaurant . Our waiter was great and we loved the wide selection of food . Our cheese platter and tuna appetizer were plenty for dinner . Will go back for sure the next time we are in town .
Good Burger and Ribs
We were seated promptly and our server was attentive. The burger and ribs were delicious, but my drink, the Old Pal, was watered down. The restaurant was loud - we had to yell at each other and say it twice, but, overall, this is a nice casual spot for a quick meal.
Food and service was great. Group of 4, ordered mac and cheese, chicken fingers, mini burgers, and pretzel bites for all to share. It was just enough food for all without feeling like we ate to much. It was a very busy energetic crowd. Noise level was a bit loud but that was expected.
Great Place to Bring Midwestern Friends
My college best friends were in town from Minnesota and wanted to experience a real San Francisco restaurant, but didn't want to be overwhelmed by a scary Pre Fixe menu. The IPA beer options sealed the deal and we had a blast! I took control of the order and we had a solid selection from the menu. The table favorites were the Mac and Cheese, Mini Burgers and Bruschetta!
