The Restaurant at Wente Vineyards Ratings and Reviews
We love this place......
wonderful ambience, great food and perfect service. We will be back!
The perfect spot for a first time business meeting
Wente Vineyards Restaurant was the perfect spot for a first time business meeting. Service and food was excellent, right amount, with my only minor suggestion is not overselling niceties like specialty bottled water vs. water, appetizers, and desert items...not to not offer but a soft sell on their availability.
Not as Good as it Used to Be
My most recent visit was disappointing. The Sunday Brunch menu had only four breakfast type items. Service left a lot to be desired. Getting salt and pepper to go with my Eggs Benedict took almost 10 minutes. All in all, we will be looking for a new place for future visits.
This winery is very special to me it's where I met my soon to be wife. I met her at my friends wedding she was the grooms sisters friend, we danced the night away. We been dating for two years now. I brought her back for a special dinner, we were early so I walked her through the vineyard and dropped on one knee and popped the question. She said YES. Dinner was amazing the food was spectacular and very romantic. I would recommend wente to anyone that's looking for delicious food great wine and a romantic setting.
My family was celebrating a birthday, it was a wonderful experience . The service was excellent, food delicious

We have dined at Wente's on many past occasions. I mentioned a birthday celebration (we both drove a considerable distance) and thought Wente's might provide a small dessert to commerate the occasion. Wrong. Also, my friend and I split a salad and appetizer as an entree. The beet salad was good, but minuscule. The lamb croquette was very small and not particularly tasty. Sorry to say--disappointed with our lunch.
Still a Fave After All These Years
Have been patronizing Wente for YEARS, because it delivers a memorable experience time after time. Sheri is an outstanding server -- we ask for her -- she gilds the lily. Going back again next week for another occasion and can't wait to see the menu!
Needs Improvement . Back to high standard
Always a big fan of Wente Restaurant but of late, not so much. New chef, limited menu, slow service, lacking flavor, etc... all with a big price tag. I won't say not to go, but will say be prepared to over pay while not being awed, or you may get lucky and somethings have changed and maybe it's back to where is used to be.
We have been coming to Wente's for years to celebrate special occasions with family and friends and to enjoy excellent food presented in an artistic manner. Sadly, the last few times we have eaten at the restaurant we have been disappointed. The food is no longer exceptional. It is just OK. Quality seems to have been sacrificed for speed and the need to turn out so many diners. We want the old Wente's back!
Variety of seasonal offerings
I really like a chef who uses seasonal foods to change up a menu. Wente's menu had everyone in our group happy.

Love this place. It has been a few years since I was here, and I will continue to go back.
great as usual
Very good food in an outstanding setting. Prices generally preclude more frequent patronage but great for special occasions. If you've never gone, go.
We went to celebrate my husbands upcoming birthday. Everything was just splendid ! We started with the fried prawns appetizer which was cooked to perfection. The batter was not too thick and the avocado sauce added just the right flavor. My husband ordered the sea bass and it was delicious! I had the chicken breast and it did not disappoint. It was moist and tender. Both of our entrees were beautifully presented. Our waiter was a delight and took time to answer our questions. It was a beautiful day and we were never rushed and truly enjoyed our wine and the desserts too! A wonderful place to go and the drive there through the many vineyards is an enjoyable ride.

Dining in the Livermore country
Food tasty and refined. Portions small for price paid. Went there for a pre- wine tasting brunch with friends. Probably will go again someday.....
My husband and i were married at Wente's in 2005. We've always loved Wente's and like to dine there for special occasions. Unfortunately, we did not enjoy our recent meal. It didn't compare to some of our local favorite restaurants. I won't name our new favorite but it's located in San Ramon. Recently we ate in North Beach in San Francisco and it was fabulous. Wente was not up to par with their menu. I won't give up but I'm looking forward to a new menu.

If your looking for epic dining experience , you will not be disappointed. The food is fabulous & the smoked pork chop is to die for!
We just enjoyed yet another excellent dinner at Wente. Chef Mike Ward does an amazing job of keeping you guessing with new additions to the menu as well as adding new flavors to traditional dishes. It's well worth coming back for more.

Food is never bad, but never a wow like you would expect at such a high end restaurant . The desserts are especially mediocre, salads are quite good, entrees are mediocre. Been here many, many times, but go for the serene atmosphere and excellent service, not particularly for the food.
Disappointing Easter Brunch
Three of us had Easter brunch at Wente. We ordered the Bread Pudding French Toast which was really wet. There was strawberry on top which tasted like Smuckers jelly. The next order was Black Truffle Scrambled Eggs and the truffle taste was overwhelming. The Dungeness Crab Benedict had a good tasting sauce. The crab was covered with some crumbs but I didn't notice any crab. We did order dessert which we thought was much better than the main courses. We have mostly eaten dinner there but not in quite a while. This meal was extremely disappointing.

All of the food was excellent. The crispy gulf shrimp was awesome.
A wonderful lunch! Nice ambience beautiful scenery!
The Best Restaurant in the Tri-valley!
Nothing surpasses the quality of food and service! This is our "GoTo" restaurant for special occasions, special visitors, sunny days - whatever - no reason needed!
Chef Mike Ward does his magic with Wente ...
Chef Mike Ward does his magic with Wente's incredible local/sustainable/organic selections day after day ... Last nights dinner was no exception ... You would think that at the end of a 16hr day the last thing you'd expect is a smiling face of the Chef (Mike Ward) to come see how dinner was and answer questions about the process his passion for food and desire to create ... Well that just happened!! The Restaurant at WENTE is a hidden gem and they found a diamond mine in Chef Mike Ward! Thanks for another great dinner ... 3hrs went by just like that! Looking forward to dining with you soon! Michael Nathan @FreshFoodTographer
Always a favorite
We are fortunate enough to live nearby and have this fabulous "neighborhood" restaurant. First time dining in the room off the bar. It was nice and quiet. Great March Madness 1/2 off on wine. We enjoyed the scallops and sea bass, the beet salad and farmers asparagus with an amazing sous vide egg. All delicious. Our wonderful waiter suggested the Chocolate Bombe for dessert and it was fantastic. So was the Pinot he recommended. The Green Barrel is also a fabulous and unusual gin cocktail that they will be serving through April. We'll be back soon. Sitting at the bar and sharing an appetizer and entree is one of our favorite ways to spend an evening.
Fantastic restaurant and service!
The food was amazing and the service was great. Our waitress, Sherri, made sure we had a great time. She helped us select a wine to pair with our dinner selections (and it was a perfect pairing) and her service was excellent all night. The food came out at a good pace, never had to wait but also wasn't bombarded with plates all over the table. I recommend this place to anyone for any time of the week.
I had read about this restaurant, and I had also spoken with someone who had been there and highly recommended it. What a beautiful place and a delicious meal! Wente wine is awesome, and we shared a bottle along with our meal. I had scallops that were tremendous. Hope to come here again! A highlight of our trip to California!
Great Birthday Dinner
Our dinner on March 13 was a very good dining experience. My parents were in from New Orleans and stated this was one of the best meal they had had out including New Orleans. Our service was extremely helpful in pairing wines and meal selection. This evening made for a very remmberable birthday for my daughter and me.
Recent Visit to Wente
We have been to Wente several times, but this time I felt they fell sort on many items. First, I made a reservation for 12:15 for my husband and my 86 year old father. We arrived at exactly 12:15 only to be told our table wasn't ready and we would need to wait 20 minutes. This unfortunately is not acceptable when dining with an 86 year old and the whole reason I made a reservation. When I explained that wasn't acceptable we were seated within 5 minutes. Service wasn't as what I expected - our server never asked if we were doing ok, if we needed anything. In fact we had to ask for bread and to get our water refilled. We do enjoy Wente however for the price, etc I did expect a little more.
Excellent for lunch
We went to Wente Bros restaurant for a special occasion lunch on Saturday. It was perfect! Our waitress made it even better. Her service was impeccable. The food was delcious and for lunch, there was quite a variety of dishes.
Wente Wine Monday
My group and I arrived at Wente early enough to have a flight of wine before our meal. The workers in the tasting room were friendly and answered all the questions we had for them. We had no special occasion, we just wanted to wine and dine ourselves on a lovely Monday evening. The service at The Restaurant was amazing. Our waiter always came out to ask us if we needed anything and was very fast in bringing anything we had asked for. The food was delicious and so was the wine. No complaints here!
The food oh, the food
Love the food. Omg, the food. We are regular people who happen to love fancy food. Worth every penny. Try the hanger steak. Delish.
Excellent place for a night out with friends and / or business related events. Everything about the meal was first class.
Bad service and food quality
Food did not arrive for an hour and quality of food was poor. Will never go back.
Food Was Average
I've been to Wente before; the grounds are just beautiful and going to lunch here gives you an excuse to enjoy them (and of course there is wine tasting as well). I wasn't overly impressed by the food this time; I felt it was average and when you are paying what you do here, I want it to be excellent. Perhaps it was just an off day. We enjoyed the wine tasting; it would be nice if they would offer a discounted tasting if you dine at the restaurant.
Wente offers a beautiful setting at the Vineyard, great food, wonderful service and an amazing wine list. They have a beautiful patio, would be ideal for a special occasion. The Wente Chardonnay rivals Rombaugher and the wait staff is super knowleable if you can't decide! We had the pork chop and the scallops both were excellent. I will definitely come back to this beautiful restaurant and try more of their delicious meals and wines.
Great Livermore Restaurant
Once again, Wente did not disappoint! Delicious food and wonderful server. We had the quail and the pasta dishes and both were wonderful. The only complaint is that the tables are very close together. So close that you can overhear your neighboring diners conversations and too close so that the neighboring waiter accidentally spills water on your jacket. Even so, the evening was very pleasant. I would definitely go back. Our waitress was delightful.
We have always enjoyed Wente. Whether it gets for a lovely lunch on the patio, a celebratory dinner in the dining room, or one of the many concerts we gave been to over the years, I fear we have come to the end of our relationship. We took my daughter's in laws out for an 80th birthday celebration. What a mistake. We were first seated in the small front dining room with two large groups. The sounds and high pitched tones were pinging off of every corner, making us ask for another room to enjoy our dinner. While in the large dining room, we were seated at a table next to four loud, laughing hysterically, cussing diners. Wow. Did we just jump from the frying pan into the fire. My friend and I were nearly noise to nose and I couldn't make out what she was saying. After receiving our drinks we asked to be reseated. The waiter was obviously irritated. I just couldn't tell if it was with us or the obnoxious people next to us. We were now seated in a back room with no one else in the room. Finally he brought us our drinks. Our reservation was at 6:00. By seven no one tad cone back in to check on us. Now stet, no bread, no nothing. At the his point, my husband and I would have left, but since we were hosting this older couple, we didn't know where else to go since Wente is in the middle of nowhere. The lady we were with noted she was in this room before for a luncheon with the original Mrs. Wente....old Italians enjoying each other. Well, I wasn't enjoying this dinner. I got up to get water for her and guess what? Magic! Our waiter appeared ANGRY with me to helping mys of to glasses and water. Imagine. Well Wente, your food us good, not great, a certainly NOO worth my time and effort. Most DEFINITELY nit good for any celebration you want to remember fondly.
