The Marc Ratings and Reviews
The last supper
Everyone was very helpful from the moment we entered. Our server was great, the food was amazing and definitely a place we'll be returning to.

The Marc is a french restaurant with a bistro feel. It has a modern and simplistic decor. I also had a very pleasant and helpful waitress. I had lunch here and had the fish special (the Arctic char) with risotto and it was delicious. I had the lemon tart for dessert...it was fine, but nothing to write home about. I like The Marc. It has a more refined atmosphere than other restaurants in Edmonton. I would recommend it, and will return myself.
Service ia great, food quality is bad!
I was recommended by my coworker to celebrate my anniversary with my husband. The steak was so salty that I could make it better at home. The duck breast is so chewy that I could hardly swallowed. The pate tasted weired, the only good thing was the service. Pricewise, it's not worth it.
Amazing food and Ambience
Loved the food there. Started off with the escargot and had the seared sea Scallops as the main. Everything was cooked to perfection, the service was amazing and the ambience waa perfect. A great location for a business dinner, as the noise level wasn't too bad. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for any foodies out there.
Great Food and Service; More casual than I hoped
The food and the service was great. I had been to The Marc 1-2 years ago for lunch and recalled it was a bit more up-scale. I was surprised when we arrived that it was quite noisy, there were no table clothes, not much space between tables, etc. I realize this seems to be the trend in dining in Edmonton, and I do enjoy going to those types of places. I just thought The Marc was more formal that it is. If you want and energetic, casual atmosphere with great food and service then this is the place for you!

I always enjoy going to The Marc. The food is very good, but it is the welcome and the service that really makes the experience.
Great food! Lovely staff!
We celebrated Mom's 80th birthday. The arctic char was delicious. My husband enjoyed the new Belgium Hoppy Blonde beer! We sampled all the desserts, and liked the lemon one the best! Yum!

The food was fantastic amd the wine that was recommended paired perfectly.
Great meals, good prices, lovely time.
I went there after hearing so much about the Marc. Expectations were quite high, but the Marc definitely hit.....the mark. The service was fantastic, with the server knowing the menu quite well and guiding us to the best wine pairings for our main dishes. The eggs were a very interesting take on the traditional eggs meurette. The main dishes were both well portioned and quite delicious. The standout from the meal was the lemon tart we had for dessert. The ratio of tangy to sweet, with the perfect level of fluffy and creaminess, was just perfect and felt incredibly well-balanced. The chocolate cake was a bit disappointing, as it was too dry without the salted caramel, but too salty with the caramel. Overall, though, a fantastic experience.
great food, excellent menu and fabulous specials good scenery
Our visit to the Marc was lovely. We were warmly greeted at the door and seated promptly. Our server greeted us with a smile and updated us on some slight menu changes since our previous visit, along with the specials. It was difficult to choose! The service continued to be fantastic over the course of our dinner. In between courses, we were greeted by the owner/manager and had a nice conversation, which was a great way to pass the time. Our meals were delicious, hot, and were just the right amount. We have never been disappointed with the Marc, and look forward to our next visit!
My husband and I recently visited The Marc for a date night. Nice food, friendly service and fun atmosphere. Definitely a little pricey. I ordered the artic char with lentils, kale and beets; I love veggies so was a little disappointed that very few came with the dish. On the other hand, it came with a large amount of fish. One day I might return just for a few 'bites', wine and doughnuts:)
I got a reservation right away for a busy restaurant. The service and food was excellent. I would recommend this restaurant to colleagues and friends.
The food was yummy, I had the fish with a leek salad to start & Gin cocktail. The fish was to die for... perfectly flavoured!! My husband had the beef but with fries wasn't for him, with a salad. We would go again but make it with friends.
Great venue, great food
Wait staff was super friendly and attentive. Food was amazing. I will definitely be eating here again in the future.
We had a lovely evening, and are still talking about the food three days later. We were able to enjoy each course without rushing or waiting too long. Excellent overall experience, we will be back!
Overpriced for the quality of the food
The food is highly overpriced. Special for two (one meal only) for over $50 is definitely not special considering the stake was chewy and the spinach was too salty.
My spouse really enjoyed her food. Mine average at best.
great food, excellent service
I have always enjoyed my meals here. The staff is impeccable and the atmosphere is perfect for business meetings and other occasions.
Great service, delicious food.
Great service, delicious food.
Great! But not as great as I was expecting!
I chose this restaurant for my boyfriend's birthday. I found it by searching best restaurants in Edmonton and apparently this place had the best steak. That may be true but my steak was literally half fat. I got a back cut of steak and it was instantly noticeable, meaning the chef had to of known it was not a good cut... The fries were average, salad average. For $40 a plate i definitely expected a lot more.... That being said the service was the best i've ever had. The tables were a little too snug to the couples next to us on both sides tho... I could hear everything they were saying - were only an arm's reach away.

Really delicious! Got pretty bisy\noisy at the end but was still nice
Great menu and great flavours
As usual, we were not disappointed with the food, service, and excellent menu selections for beverages and meals. We discovered the Mexican Mule (a novel take on the Moscow Mule) and enjoyed the duck entree followed by the out-of-this-world beignets and coffee. It's a hopping place for lunch or dinner, but at times the seating arrangements and noise level can detract from the conversation and privacy.
Impeccable as always
I love the Marc. I love being welcomed like an old friend every time I walk in the door, the casual elegance of the restaurant, the knowledgeable and friendly service and of course the incredible food. Edmonton is so lucky to have the Marc!
Downtown Dining Week menu featured small plates
I went to the Marc for the first time for downtown dining week. The special menu was $28 which was really reasonable. Fortunately my server warned me that the portions were small, because they really were! Perhaps they had small portions with a reasonable price to entice people to try the restaurant. The food was delicious, and I'm sure the food on the regular menu is as well, but if the portions are similarly small from the regular menu then I'd hesitate to go there again.

The quality of the food and service was, as always, excellent. I haven't been disappointed yet. The fish was fabulous--perfectly prepared.
Great dinner experience
We had the Downtown Dining Week dinner. All three courses were interesting and delicious with great flavour combinations. A good selection of wines by the glass allowed for excellent and illuminating matches. A very enjoyable evening.
The Marc - Lunch
I had the omelette with a side salad and it was delicious. The food was very fresh and full of flavor. I would recommend this restaurant to people who enjoy French cuisine as well as a simple and quiet atmosphere.
Lunch was great, especially the mushrooms on toast. Service excellent, and we were done well in time to get back to work. Would recommend, and have!
Great service, great food, as always!
Consistency is key here - the Marc is always excellent, I have yet to be disappointed by their service or food. Thank you for a wonderful night out!

We had an exceptionally great experience last weekend. It was a special occasion and the server was outstanding and very attentive. This is my favourite restaurant in Edmonton because the owner is personable and welcoming. His menu reflects great taste and diversity. Overall the Marc is an 11 out of 10!

Highly recommend. Had the scallops and they were so delicious. The lobster sauce was amazing. The steak was also very good bit the scallops were better. Had the escargot to start and also highly recommend
I ordered from the Downtown Dining Week ...
I ordered from the Downtown Dining Week menu. The entree of lamb meatballs and brussel sprouts was a little salty but quite good overall. Unfortunately, the appetizer of crab dumplings was a little lacking in flavour and I chose not to finish my desert (it was some sort of pudding with chocolate dust and hard meringue). I have been to The Marc before (and had a wonderful three course meal), and I was disappointed that the downtown dining week menu did not live up to my previous experience.
My elderly mother had a tooth out the week before and she made the mistake of ordering the lamb chop. When our server noticed that she was having difficulty chewing and found out the reason, she offered the arctic char as a free replacement. This act of kindness saved the evening for mom and she went home very happy and satisfied.
Great welcome, wonderful food
I brought my quite elderly parents here for lunch. The server noticed approaching and came out to open the doors. My parents were warmly greeted by the maitre d' and escorted personally to the table. Service continued to be excellent. The lunch menu had many interesting options; I chose the winter salad with roast duck which was excellent. Good wine list. The only slight drawback was the noise level as the room is totally open. This was more noticeable with our group. We will definitely return.
Enjoyable dining but expected better quality food
I have had two wonderful lunches at The Marc and had high expectations for a special evening dinner. We began with appetizers that were good but not exceptional. I had been looking forward to the steak for a couple of weeks. While it was good and well presented, I expected a better dinner for the price. There was significant fat and gristle, which I did not expect to be served at The Marc. We ended the evening by sharing the beignets (doughnut balls) which were also good, but not up to Louisiana standards. I had a glass of the house red wine, which was very good, and recommended by the server. We found the server to be knowledgeable, engaging and just right in terms of attention. As with some other recent reviews, The Marc needs to look at the quality of the food to command the prices. (or reduce the size of the steak).
Fantastic meal and service to match.

They were out of one of the specials by the time we ordered, we sat down at noon, so we were a bit disappointed with that, however we did have a great meal.
We had the flank steak feature on spinach bread pudding - delicious!
Not as I remembered.
Not as good as I remembered. Tough steak this time! Service not up to snuff. Pour my own wine.
