View was spectacular as always. Food was just meh, bread basket perhaps the best part...disappointing when the bill is $400+. Risotto ok, salads fine, chicken was tender but spongy - dish needed salt and texture. Steak was fair, not a great cut. Took dessert order and (while a nice but by then unnecessary surprise) brought a complimentary dessert for our occasion. Alas, have to revert back to The Ritz.
our special occasion (surprise engagement) was made possible by your great staff: Scott our waiter, Sarah (training), host and all the other staff
Top knotch service and food.
Excellent service and food. We celebrated a 75th birthday and they acknowledge it without going over the top. Very classy and my mom appreciated not being made the center of attention to the other patrons. The view was amazing and made comfortable with overhead heaters. Would also recommend to families with kids.
Special diner date night
I recommend the scallops! Dinner was amazing and view was nice next to the window
We really enjoyed everything we ordered (yellowfin tuna tartare, scallops, coffee crusted steak, and honey souffle), the server had good recommendations, and we'll be back.
We had a little get together with our game group. The lunch was perfect and Sean our waiter did a fantastic job of keeping us well supplied with food and drink and he was very helpful with explaining the menu. Thank you
Great spot for a girls get together, scenic view, good food, staff was accommodating to let us wait so we could sit outside. Love walking off my meal on the scenic property after lunch. The french fry sharing dish is an amazing starter!

The Loft was lovely - we went on a beautiful day so the view was amazing. The food was good but did not quite live up to my expectation for the "fine" dining experience. They wine list was quite vast but I have eaten better food for less expensive bills.

Had a fantastic lunch with excellent service. Outstanding view just added to the ambiance!
If we were dining in midtown Manhattan I could see these extraordinary prices for ordinary plates. Skip this place and dine downtown Laguna Beach. You'll get far better value and enjoy what this beautiful little town has to offer.

The oysters were odd at best the way they were served. The tuna tartar was warm. Not good. The rest of the courses could not over come the first two. It was too bad. We had dine there before and it was wonderful. This time, a big disappointment.
Beautiful Spot, good food, but service was lacking
My husband and I took a very important client and his wife to the Loft for dinner. We had an early reservation for dinner and although there was only one other table occupied they gave us the furthest table from the window. I had to ask them to take our drink order. The wine selection was nice and the food was delicious but the lack of attention the entire evening was off putting. As the dining room filled up with other guests I felt like we were left in the dust. I would go back and try again in hopes that it was an off night.

Wonderful weekday breakfast. Chicken chilaquiles were tasty, though you may want to steer clear if you aren't that hungry. The boyfriend had eggs with chicken sausage (epic). They have smoothies and juices! Deliciousness! And the view from the patio overlooking the pool is to die for. One of the many reasons I'm in love with Southern California.
The Loft at the Montage
I have has lunch at the Loft at the Montage many times with friends. It is a great place to celebrate a birthday or other special occasion. The view is spectacular and the service is excellent. Even though it is a bit on the pricy side, the food is delicious and worth it. I recommend it to anyone wanting a beautiful restaurant to enjoy life and the Pacific Ocean.

An extremely overpriced and uneventful restaurant. It has the ambience of a Holiday inn lobby. The food is good, not great and is 30% more expensive than any good Laguna Beach restaurant - the service is excellent - Would not recommend
Always a wonderful experience.
Always a wonderful experience.
We had dinner on Valentines Day. While the food, except dessert, was very good, other things were severely lacking considering the price of an over $400 dinner for two. For instance, only a few tables had nice red event tablecloths, ours didn't. Service was spotty, and the staff seemed to keep stepping on each other with mistimed (and early) clearing of the bread plates and the placing, removing, replacing and then changing the incorrectly placed silverware for the main course. The ambiance is not romantic as there was a mix of couples and vacationing families alongside a bar with sports on tv showing. And at the end, to add insult, there was a parking charge even with restaurant validation.
We've been going t the loft and Montage LB for years, since it opened. We live a few miles away and sometimes stay there for special occasions as well. The last few times we've eaten at Loft the quality and execution of the food is way off. This is the third time in as many visits, once for a brunch and twice for dinner the food has been very underwhelming. We wan to love this place but can't. We had issues with every dish this time which is why I'm writing this review. First course, risotto for my wife and a dozen oysters for me. Risotto lacked flavor, way under-seasoned and had a poor consistency. The oysters were over-cleaned, almost no "juice" in them, they tasted almost sterile. I like my oysters to taste like the sea, it was like oysters out of a can. The mignonette was under seasoned as well/ lack any real flavor. Second course, we split the Ceaser which was salty and unimpressive, it was like it just came out of a bag from the grocery. I asked for anchovies on my half and was served two tiny slivers....disappointed.... Main course John Dory and Ribeye. The john dory sauce was nearly uneditable, so sweat . The ribeye was not bone in, not tender and over sauced . I presume oversauced to makeup for its lack of flavor. Seriously it was all very bad... Desert was on them for my wife's bday which was nice. It was OK, not memorable. Service was good as it should be. Cheese course was presented by the fromager who was more of a cheese monger and a very self assured one as well. ...who did not impress with table side manor nor quality of cheese. It was all served too cold rendering it almost flavorless... We did not complain as we did not want to ruin a festive evening out with friends. Just mehh...not impressive food or menu....not even close to a good food experience.
Beautiful food in a beautiful setting
Dinner begins with a bountiful basket of different breads. The beet and Caesar salads were good but the carrot ginger soup was the star. Fragrant with ginger, and drizzled lightly with chili oil, this coconut milk-based soup was generous enough to be a light entree. Few restaurants serve John Dory and The Loft serves up a tasty treat; nice mild white fish and lush colorful vegetables. The disappointment was the forbidden rice with bok choy. Over-priced and myeh. We finished dinner with 3 sorbets -- cranberry, pineapple and green apple. Excellent! The service is always friendly, professional and knowledgeable. We'll be back.

The Loft was very accommodating for a party of 8; we had to change the timing on the reservation 3 times due to my son's soccer games & they were very understanding. On a lovely warm Saturday night ( in February!) we got a beautiful spot outside on the deck overlooking the Pacific; it was a real treat for our guests from Boston even before the meal began. While soups & tuna tartar were delicious, the portions were too large for appetizers & rather pricey; we'd prefer smaller portions along with a price reduction. My husband is a wine collector but the steep corkage price of $45/bottle is outrageous; this has increased a lot since our last visit. Our guests enjoyed the trout & pasta Bolognese but the John Dory sauce was too sweet &sweet potato undercooked. Desserts were all perfect- chocolate cake, assortment of ice creams & cheese cake.
Treated us like royalty
Our waiter, Patrick, was wonderful. We went for an early Valentine's Day dinner and they really took excellent care of us. They made it a dinner to remember. The carrot-ginger soup was so complicated and wonderful. We are looking forward to our next dinner here and we plan on staying at the hotel the next time.
Special lunch at a special place
The Loft @ Montage was simply wonderful. In addition to the amazing view of the resort overlooking the ocean, the food and service were excellent. Our waiter went out of his way to make our experience simply wonderful. Food was delicious.
Beautiful Spot--Great for a Special Occasion
We ate breakfast in the scenic Loft restaurant. They seated us on the porch, which was lovely. We were a party of 4 celebrating a birthday. We selected breakfast/brunch (they serve breakfast until 11:00) to make it more cost effective for us. The morning we celebrated it was a warm and sunny February day. The food is yummy and service excellent, but the location is just absolutely amazing! We walked the grounds, resort and beach afterwards! For this special occasion, mission accomplished!

We arrived at the wrong restaurant but still enjoyed our dinner. A beautiful dining room with inside or outside areas. We ate in as it was chilly outside. They do have heaters. We had the Caesar Salad which was fresh greens but the dressing lacked flavor. I selected the chicken and it was so good. Loved every bite. My husband had the Pork Bolognese which he enjoyed. We had to leave early so did not have coffee and desert. Maybe next time. Lovely hotel and restaurant. Nice surprise for us.

Awesome. Can't wait to go again!
David was an attentive, personable and knowledgeable server. He was great! Kari prepared a fantastic cheese tray. She is so good at creating pairings. We could make a whole meal on cheese trays, but we don't want to skip dessert. She is delightful. Simply a wonderful evening. We recommend sitting on the patio.

Great food. Quiet peaceful atmosphere. Great views. Note that the chef worked at Aubergine's and the food reflects that background.
Worst Dining Experience Ever!
This was a complete and total waste of $450, except for the wine. Absurdly overpriced food featuring cheap, fatty cuts of meat that were poorly prepared. For example, beef cheeks passed off as short rib - like? They were absurdly fatty and I couldn't eat them. Why not make short ribs, which are already an inexpensive cut of beef? Had to squeeze out a few more sheckles profit? I don't like giving bad reviews, but honestly, if I could, I'd give this overpriced dining experience a negative star rating. The ":chef" should be replaced. There was nothing good or satisfying. We'll never return.
We had egg white omelette, granola parfait, smoked salmon plate and chicken apple sausage. Everything was made with the best fresh ingredients. The amazing view speaks for itself but the food is excellent.
I took my elderly mom there for Thanksgiving. The food was superb. The service was exceptional. Although we sat outside for a breathtaking view of the ocean and a full moon, we were cozy warm. I would gladly recommend dining at the Loft at Montage to even my most fussy of friends.
Ripped off at the Loft at the Montage
We had Thanksgiving dinner at the Loft. The service was uncoordinated and therefore a little rushed. After spending over$400. for dinner for two, we felt it was rather over the top to charge us $25. for valet parking. The last time we ate there the maître d' said that they no longer charged for parking since their prices were peak to begin with. I sincerely doubt we will eat there again.

My favorite OC restaurant-The Loft
I am never disappointed when I have dinner at The Loft. My husband and I often come here to celebrate a special occasion like our Wedding Anniversary. From the moment we step out of our car and walk into the Lobby, I smile and begin taking in the beauty of the ocean view and enjoy listening to Steven Siu's romantic piano music. We usually enjoy the sunset and then walk downstairs for our reservation. We enjoy eating outside at The Loft to continue to enjoy the view-so calming and spectacular. The French Riviera has nothing over the views at The Montage! The attentive service, the excellent food, and the presentation of the food all outstanding! I anticipate celebrating many more special occasions at The Loft!
Excellent all the way around
The views from the outdoor patio sesting area are fantastic!
