The Little Village - Downtown Ratings and Reviews
Food good but not enough of it. Service very slow.
I took my family of 7 adults and the automatic 20% tip was $82.00 for very poor service. for the amount of food we were served the price was outrageous. Parking a problem. Won't be back.
Nice place but expensive for casual dining
The restaurant was very nice inside and the staff was pleasant and helpful. My redfish and potatoes were very good but my spouse's lasagna was not so much and considered okay. The wine was very good, although some might have considered it too little for the price. We enjoyed the time we were there but found it to be a little expensive for a casual night out.
The Arctic SeaBass was outstanding.

Wonderful first visit
We had a group of six colleagues informally gathered after a day of conference attendance. Krista asked if we were on a time clock since so many other diners were attending a 7:30 performance. When she learned we were at our leisure, she gave us time to explore the menu and ask questions. She knew what to recommend and what proportions as well. Village bread was a hit! I think next time we may request sans Romano on one loaf to see if it increases the crustiness factor. Texture was amazing, though. We ordered a variety of appetizers, entrees and desserts across our group and no one was disappointed. The Muscato was one of the best ever tasted by those who partook. Seafood rancine was a yummy starter that was a new dish for our group, and everyone raved. Shrimp Ernie, crab cakes, fried green tomatoes, homemade blue cheese dressing, bread pudding, and Creme brûlée were the favorites of the evening. In summary, a wonderful first visit to Little Village downtown, but it definitely will not be the last!

Wonderful time at one of my favorite places to eat when inBaton Rouge. It never disappoints!
The ambiance was wonderful, as well as the service. However, the fish tasted "fishy" and was not very good. I thought the food would be delicious, but the only delicious food was the bread.
Food at its best
This was our 1st time eating here and it was better than we both expected. The food was outstanding, the service was excellence and atmosphere was great! Didn't take long to be seated and didn't take long to be served. Great all the way around. We will be back.
Steak night at Little Village
We had a wonderful celebration dinner for six at Little Village. The steak specials were fantastic and the wine was superb. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the Garlic Bread and desserts as well. I would highly recommend.
The Little Village was terrific! You cannot go without having the village bread. The owner himself is a great guy and was in the restaurant and came and talked with us. You could tell he really wants his patrons to enjoy the food as well as the experience. The food was magnificent !
Great Food, Great Service
It was our 15th wedding anniversary. We live in prairieville and had visited that location but had never been to the downtown location. Our server was really great. We received complimentary champagne and chocolate covered strawberries. My wife had the filet and I had the rib-eye. The food was absolutely fantastic! It was really one of the best steaks I've had and the wife's filet was phenomenal. My only negative is that it was not as romantic as I would have hoped. it was predominantly a work crowd which is totally understandable. It's not anyone's fault really, I just was ignorant to the ambience of the place. Aside from that our experience was just wonderful!
The food was excellent . And the filet was awsome. I also had the best calamari ever and I've had it several times at many different places. It was just a great experience just a little pricey.. but I'll be back!!
Bread Lovers Unite
I cannot express into words how amazing their bread is, I have been dreaming about it since I went. The Baked Lasagna was delicious as well. I would recommend this for a double or group date and definitely for a romantic night out. I thoroughly enjoyed celebrating my Birthday here.

Somewhat disappointed in the veal parmesan entrees. Aside from having to order the pasta as a separate side(?), the dish was average, especially for the price.
Mediocre food, terrible service
I scheduled a business lunch there and service was shockingly slow. It took an hour for our food to arrive, to the point where I asked for the check when it finally came so we could just wolf it down and get out of there. That didn't work, though, because my salad arrived with no dressing. I asked our waiter to bring some and he showed no sense of urgency despite how long we had already waited. My companion insisted on waiting to eat his hot food until I could start, so his lunch got cold. And nobody there acknowledged or apologized for the inconvenience.
Downtown has lovely upscale atmosphere, Airline great for more casual nite out . At both locations, seafood is consistently savory and filets are best in town. Service last Saturday was outstanding despite very busy night at the restaurant.
I went on a date with my girl and had a great experience. At first we were seated right in front of the kitchen door, which is an odd placement for a table in my opinion. The table was also awkwardly long and I felt like I needed inspector gadget arms to reach anything. We ended up requesting a table move, which did not seem like a problem for the staff at all. The move made my experience much more enjoyable. Service was great, food was great. I will be returning in the future.
Never a bad meal
We made reservations online which was very quick and easy. When we arrived the place was packed but we had no wait because of the reservation. Excellent service! Excellent food! We never can finish our food. You must try the bread! Great for a special occasion, not something we can afford every week.

The only thing we didn't like was, we couldn't use our gift cards
The food was excellent. Our waitress was a delight. Could not have been a better evening and meal. Perfect all the way around.
No need to review
We liked he food and service. Have eaten there several times before.
My valentine and I went and it was very romantic with great food and service
A Romantic Valentine's Day lunch
My husband and I brought my mother along to have Valentine's Day lunch with us. It was quiet and romantic and in a beautiful old building that has been a part of the Baton Rouge downtown area for many years. The food was outstanding as was the service. My only recommendation would be that the table be cleaned of crumbs after the bread is served. The waiter was attentive and knowledgeable and the chairs in the foyer came in handy as my mother is 88 years old and had to sit and wait for about 10 minutes while we went to get the car. All members of the restaurant staff were friendly and were genuinely concerned that we have a wonderful dining experience. We'll definitely go there to dine again.
Be My Valentine
I was dining alone for brunch on Valentine's day for the first time since becoming a widow. The staff and patrons were very kind and gracious as each other table was filled with couples and families. I enjoyed a delicious meal of appetizers, village bread with all of the trimmings, a salad, an entree and dessert. The staff was extremely accommodating and upon returning to the table with the bill, I was notified that my meal was complimentary. A most delicious meal at one of my favorite restaurants was a delectable compliment to my waiter stating you are our valentine. Thank you for dining with us and we appreciate your business! This was an unexpected, wonderful surprise and a bright spot of sunshine on a day that is hard for those of us with a broken heart. I encourage all who want to experience exceptional service, phenomenal food, delicious desserts, and mouth watering bread and libations to support Little Village Downtown. The beautiful dining room is perfect for lunch, brunch, dinner, drinks, and happy hour! I have never been disappointed !! Enjoy
Awesome food awesome service!!
Awesome food awesome service!!
Early Valentines dinner
Delicious food, attentive service, and the Bread!!
Good food. Good wine. Good service. Fun atmosphere. I've been here many times and it is always reliably good food, drink and service. We both had the sea bass special on this visit and it was perfectly cooked and delicious!
Best in town
Overall the Little Village downtown is the best dining in town. Absolutely Delicious, comsistent, great atmosphere and service and reasonably priced. A favorite we can't wait to get back to every time.

The food was awesome. Perfect place for a date night. I highly recommend the stuffed artichoke and eggplant Parmesan. It was the best I have ever eaten. Will definitely go back.
not so good
sensation dressing was tasteless. the salad had very few shrimp. The shrimp were quite small, but they were tasty.
Disappointing dining experience
My friend and I ate here the night before the Louisiana Marathon. The positive is we got our pre-race carbs and it was close to our hotel. My friend ordered lasagna but she could only find enough meat for one bite. I ordered eggplant parm. The breading was extremely thick so that all I could taste was red sauce and breading. We each ate less than half our meals, just enough to not be hungry so we didn't have to go elsewhere to find food. Staff was friendly. Atmosphere was pleasant. The food was disappointing at best. The marathon weekend was amazing. I highly recommend the race. If we return for it next year, I'll find a different place to carb load.
Great for dinner, but not lunch
As always, the Little Village downtwon location delivers excellent service and great cuisine. However, it is best suited for dinner. There is no dedicated lunch menu which leads to a pricey lunch. The evening ambience is wonderful.
Great spot for a lunch meeting
Being from out of town, I asked around for locations where I could host a lunch meeting. The Little Village was mentioned a couple of times and thankfully that's the one I went with. Food was fantastic, the service was prompt and the staff was mindful that we were having a meeting (not arriving at the table every few minutes with questions, etc.). Could not have asked for a better experience.
Wow! We dined at The Little Village downtown. The food was magnificent. I had been to the one on Airline a few years ago and was somewhat disappointed - but the restaurant downtown was outstanding. In addition to the WONDERFUL bread, garlic and tapenade, we had the calamari and veal and chicken dishes. The food was delicious and Frank our server was also outstanding. He was knowledgeable about the menu, very attentive but did not insert himself into our dinner. He knew the proper way to serve and was probably the best waiter I've seen in many, many years. Our dinner was relaxed and we did not feel rushed. The prices are fairly high - but it was well worth it. I will definitely be back and have already recommended it to others. (And btw - I have been away from BR for many years - and was so pleased to see how nice downtown BR now is!!). Thank you very much for a wonderful dinner!

Is not an intimate place to celebrate anniversary. Was my 2nd (1st visit was only to bar area) and my husband's 1st visit to restaurant. We were told "get the bread" and yes it was delicious. However, we had to wait a long time to get our bread and the waiter claimed he had put in the order but another waiter must have taken our order. Waited another 15 minutes for out bread. Placed order and never received the salads that were supposed to come with our dinners. Was told we would get a dessert cause we were celebrating our anniversary. Had to remind waiter after he brought our bill and then waited about 15 minutes before the 2 chocolate covered strawberries were brought to us. Needless to say, my husband was not impressed and has no desire to go back.
Food was very good. Service was not the greatest and our table was on top another without enough room to move between. Multiple waiters were not on same page and could not get water refilled or drinks from the bar.
New Years Eve with the wife
This was our second visit to Little Village and I'm not really sure why it took us so long to go back, because this place is great, The food is awesome, especially the bread pudding we had for dessert, that was some very special indeed. I know we can't wait to go back again :)
Good but not great.
We dine here about 2 times a year. This visit the food was not as good as previous visits. Perhaps due to large New Year's Eve crowd. The bread appetizer was ok. The salad had too much oil. The meatballs had too much bread crumbs and was not as juicy as prior visits. Our meals were ok, but not as great as prior visits. The Italian wine we selected was very good and the bread pudding desert was excellent. Hope this was just a one night disappointment as we like this restaurant for special occasion dinners.
Loud and tables crowded
So loud waiter had problem taking order. Tables so close you could not walk between them without disturbing someone. Pasta was over cooked and on mushy side. The bread and sensation salad were very good and that was it! Will not go back nor recommend this restaurant. Hope for their sake it was just a very off night.
Good food and service
Our group of eleven all enjoyed the lunch. Parking was a bit of a problem so I suggest parking in the nearby parking garage rather than at a metered spot because it was a leisurely meal and some of our party had to worry about the two hour limit on their meters.
I took a couple of old clients/friends for a Christmas lunch at this restaurant this past Monday. the fish special was a blackened and grilled black drum topped with grilled shrimp. It as excellent. The service was very good and the entire experience very enjoyable. I have found this restaurant consistently satisfying and would recommend it to anyone looking for a good elegant lunch with clients or friends in the Baton Rouge CBD.
