About The Jacobson
"If Picasso or Rembrandt wanted to grab a bit in KC, the food and atmosphere at The Jacobson would make them feel like they were back in front of an easel." -Alex Kluesner KC Magazine
Like paint to a blank canvas, The Jacobson, or "The J" for regulars, transformed a 4,000-square foot warehouse into a modern restaurant and bar in the heart of the Crossroads Arts District. Staying true to the surrounding culture, its walls are bedecked with paintings from local artist and its one-of-a-kind heated patio and full service bar is anchored by a two story sculpture by KC's own Stretch.
A glance at The Jacobson's variety of contemporary American cuisine yields a collection for meat lovers, vegetarians and vegans. Much like an artist who draws inspiration from his or her own environment, diners in search of muse are encouraged to mix and match tastes when ordering appetizer & entrees from the Mingle & Center Stage sections of the menu.

The Jacobson Ratings and Reviews
Service was good if a bit slow at first.

Pleased once again...
This is our tenth or so time hitting The Jacobson this year. We always bring out of town friends here for dinner. We have had nothing but great service. Our favorites servers by far are Chris and Jenni (she has served us for brunch three times)! Everyone that we encounter from the hostess to the bartender, to the servers are always on top of everything. The food is amazing. I have challenged myself to try something new each time and every time is better than the last. We will continue to come back again and again and love introducing this place to our friends. Keep up the good work!!!

Second visit to the Jacobson and we really enjoyed it. Our waitress Chris is very friendly and accommodating! Happy hour is fun and the food is good.
Our new favorite restaurant in KC!
First time to visit the Jacobson. Very pleasantly surprised. Delicious, well prepared meals, with QUALITY ingredients. Had the kale with grilled chicken salad- ate every last bit. Obviously they care about doing things right. Excellent, attentive, and professional service. Chris was a great server.
Our Daughters Favorite Restaurant in Kansas City
We chose the patio but later realized it was windy and cold. Heaters were not moveable per staff. Regardless, the food was great and we had an enjoyable meal.
Loved the outdoor area!
My cousin was in town and we tried The Jacobsen. We loved our appetizer, salads, drinks and truffle fries!
Great night out
Wonderful food, great service. Loved the atmosphere. The food exceeded our expectations. Our waitress was extremely friendly and professional. I would highly recommend to a friend! Great date night with my husband!

We had a great waitress. The food and drinks were outstanding. We will definitely be coming back.
Excellent once again.
Always good food and service. Our server Jedd was great. All around good time and excellent food

The service was questionable. We had John as our waiter. Though he was jovial and funny, his comic sense went over to be condescending and obnoxious. He questioned orders, was unaware of bar stock and brought the wrong drink despite telling us that they had what was requested. He was generally sparky and tended to talk down to his customers.
Pre-Show at the Kauffman
Our server, Jed was great. Personable, professional and fun. We ate a few of the small plates and days later I am still thinking of the grilled octopus. Out of my box but I took Jed up on his recommendation and he was right, it was amazing. All the rest were good and offered a chance to try a few things over a nice bottle of wine. Thanks Jed.
My husband and I recently dined there...and he never complains and will eat nearly any thing. However, he ordered the Chicken paprikash on Saturday night, and it was cold and the dumplings were inedible. The waiter brought out a salad with chicken breast to replace it, but even though his meal was comp'd, the tab was still high and he had to eat while everyone was done. Bad experience....
Great date night!
We had a wonderful time at the Jacobson. Shrimp and crab dip, beet salad and delicious scallops. Our server was thoughtful and helpful. We dined leisurely and enjoyed ourselves.
Urban Modern chic restaurant, great food
Friendly bartenders. comfortable, warm decor - dark wood, leather. Crab & Shrimp dip very good, though maybe not enough crab. Served with ample lovosh & bread. Shared the tomato and white bean salad. Excellent flavor & texture. Also had the bourbon salmon. Could really taste bourbon, and salmon cooked exactly right - not too well done, tender, flavorful. Overall, very good experience, and plan to return. Not cheap. We paid $30 at bar for 2 drinks & appetizer, then $60 for 1 drink, 1 salad and 1 dinner. But worth it.

The Jacobson has a great atmosphere and unique cocktails- but the food is overpriced and underwhelming. There are at least 10 other places you could go within walking distance that are way better. If you're going here- hopefully it's just for cocktails.

Not what I was expecting
The waitress we had was rarely seen, maybe it was because the steak I ordered was very RARE and not medium as I requested. 140 for 3 seamed high since it was a local bar setting and not to mention, the food was sub par to say the least.
Cool place, fun vibe. Great craft cocktails with fun bartender. At the bar had the lavoche with 3 different spreads, awesome. Great waiter, asked what they were known for said great salmon and best cheeseburgers in town. So we ordered both and split it. Both did not disappoint. On a nice day outside area looks perfect for a few cold beverages. We will be back even though it is a 30 minute drive.
Nice, but pricy
Had a Friday night reservation and it just seemed, from the moment we saw the hostess, that the staff was overwhelmed. Very slow service the whole way through. The food lacked anything spectacular for the price. I've had happy hour there and will definitely return, but just for that.
Lots of Lovers
We love the Jacobson but probably won't be back for a special day like Valentine's Day. Too full, too loud, tight seating. I'm ok with live music but I think that's a small venue for a live group during a busy day. The octopus was very good but very small portion for price. Waitress was delightful and understanding when I sent my wine back for a mixed drink.
Very much worth it

We had a wonderful time as first time guests. They did however run out of steak as we sat to eat but it was Valentine's Day weekend, which was almost to be expected. The server was knowledgeable and friendly. We will definitely be back, however perhaps on the main dining floor. The party we were seated next to were a bit brash and loud for the quieter part of the restaurant we were seated in.
They had a band playing that night. We had to yell for the waitress to hear the order. They attempted to reseat us but it was still too loud. Management called us a cab and we left
Very nice evening
Went on Valentine's weekend and the ambiance and food were fantastic would highly recommend
Delicious meals, dependable dining experience!
Our experiences at the Jacobson have always been wonderful. The specialty drinks are unique (try the Trist - perfect for summer); the food is deliciously prepared and nicely presented and the service has been top notch the last 3 visits.
One of the best steaks I have EVER eaten
I took my wife foe a early Valentines dinner, made easy reservations online, was immediately seated when we arrived. Staff was very courteous and professional, atmosphere and setting was beautiful. The food was AMAZING. I had the best steak I have had , no knife needed perfectly cooked.
Bo knows Food!
Our son made the reservations for our group of 6. We were seated in the back in a semi-private room where we could really visit, share our meal, and hear each other in conversation. It was such a nice surprise to our evening and one we will repeat in the future. I will always trust his dining choices from now on as none of us had ever been there before. The food was delicious, served in a timely manner, and our server that evening was a true gentleman. There will be more Jacobson's for us in the future when we want to entertain friends and family from out of town.

Great Saturday lunch
We had a very enjoyable lunch last Sat. The Cuban and meatball sandwiches were delicious and served hot. The place was busy but we had great service from Tanya. We have never been disappointed with dinner service and now look forward to going back for lunch and brunch too.

This is the third time I've been to The Jacobson in the last month. Each time it gets better. Our server was amazing and so welcoming as well as accommodating as we waited a bit to be seated for our reservation and drinks to come out!
Great food and atmosphere
The restaurant was hard to find but when I called the hostess was very nice and explained where they were located and told me where to park. Our waiter, Randall, was very friendly and explained the menu. Everything he suggested was very tasty (drinks, appetizer and entree) I will return.
Nice Evening Dining Experience
We had a great meal and chose the restaurant week menu along with a wine pairing. The waiter was excellent along with the suggested dishes and wine pairings. It was an overall enjoyable evening.
Food and drinks were delicious. The only area for improvement would be increase the size of the two person tables. You want to really enjoy several dishes but the tables are too small for that. Seriously though, it was a great place to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary. Will continue to refer family and friends.
topping it off
Great from the wedge salad through the main course. Don't miss desert- salted caramel pudding! Don't miss this standout place to dine
Fantastic food & staff!!
Fantastic food & staff!! We've enjoyed dining at The Jacobson for a few years now and we just love it! The patio is dog-friendly so that is a plus in our book.
I was sad that it was as exciting as I had hoped. Salmon was rare. May try one more time during nice weather.
Restaurant Week lunch was good
Our party of 4 all chose from the Restaurant Week lunch menu. For the most part, everything was good. Three had the pork sandwich and all enjoyed it very much. Two had grilled shrimp cocktail appetizer and loved it. The tomato and white bean salad was somewhat bland, as was the grilled chicken sandwich. The bread pudding dessert was delicious. We had excellent service. We were not thrilled with a circular booth, particularly because two of our party were elderly. However, we enjoyed the meal enough that we will try them again. They are behind Lulu's, by the way. Hard to find.
Restaurant week highlight
Great place for a date, good cocktails, nice wine list and the meatballs with goat cheese were absolutely delicious. Ordered off the restaurant week menu and also had the wine tasting that accompanied it for extra dollars. Our servers name was Anna and she was very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine listings. We were seated at our reservation time and our food was brought in a very timely manner. We will definitely return.

Would be 5 stars all the way, but unfortunately the noise level when the place gets 70% plus full, gets to be unbearable! The place becomes a shouting match.
