The Grove Ratings and Reviews
After waiting 20 minutes for the server to show up, we ordered our food and wine at the same time. Our food came a good 10 minutes before the wine. My daughter ordered a salad and I ordered quesadillas. They split each one and we never said we we were going to split them. We ordered another glass of wine and again it took a good 20 minutes to get our wine. The server was not regretful, never said why it took so long to get the wine. I walked up to the bar and the bar was not full. The food really was not at all good. I felt like it had come from Sysco. This is my fourth time at The Grove and will not go back
We went there before our concert at the Toyota Center. It was a great location, lively atmosphere, attentive service, and really good food. We loved it!
Every time we come we enjoy our time. The service is always impeccable and the food is as well. I love how they know the menu and wine list well, yet do not bother you while you are eating. Great place to go for a great meal and romantic time.

Great atmosphere, but the food is mediocre at best. Salmon was overcooked after asking for med-rare. BBQ chicken was forgetful. Recommend going for drinks and apps, but pass on dinner. There are far better places to go around town for food. Also, be sure to check your bill before you pay. We had 3 corrections on ours for wrong amounts being charged.

Upscale, nice place
Good service, good food, and a nice variety in the menu. From hamburgers to fish of the day in parchment. Terrific guacamole served in a roasted poblano pepper. Good wine list, good beer, interesting cocktails: I liked the New Fashioned with dark sweet cherries and citrus.
Great Weekday Lunch Spot in the Heart of Houston
We appreciate the consistently good food and service at the Grove for weekday lunch meetings. The room is typically quiet enough to have conversations and the service is non-intrusive.
First Visit Meh
Was disappointed. This was my first visit and it was Easter brunch. Menu was nothing extraordinary, service was scarce. There are better brunches around the city. But I'll go back and give dinner a try because I've heard so many good reviews and the location and decor provided a nice ambiance.
Not my first visit here, and it will not be my last. I was a little surprised at the offering - you selected among several entree's and the salads and desserts were buffet style. Which was OK. Staff was a bit overwhelmed by the crowd - and therefore forgetful . Never saw any salt and pepper. One recommendation for the salad bar - put the dressings at the END of the line. People kept coming back and breaking into line to get the dressing which was at the front. Back-asswards.
Excellent food, horrible service
The food is amazing and the view is wonderful. However the service was horrible. Took forever to get a menu, and then they didn't bring the right menu. The waiter disappeared constantly. They were not busy, it was just poor service. Until mgmt takes care of their service issue, the good food isn't worth the money for non existent service.
Good flavors. Enjoyed the meal.

Small menu, good food, great waitstaff. Food comes out quickly and even able to customize orders with no drama. The hostesses are always a little rude no matter when I go for whatever reason. However, the waitstaff is great.
great view - very good food
great views of the park with floor to celling windows. Nice for dates and biz too. well stocked bar as well.
Almost didn't go
Almost didn't go because of my son's attire, shorts and tshirt but decided to go anyhow due to knowing the area, park and different events at the GRB. They were kid friendly and attire varies depending on reason customer was in the area, business meetings, volleyball at the GRB, etc. We got the deviled eggs, and cheese tray for appetizers. Both were great! My son got the cheese burger, it was good. My wife and I split the soup and salad and grouper in parchment paper. Probably the best fish I've ever had!
Way too loud for meeting new customers. Service was slow and parking was a nightmare. Customer was upset because they could not park. Everyone was concerned about getting to the theater on time. My wife's dinner was overcooked. The Grove is a beautiful location and is reasonably priced. We thought it would be a good pre - theater choice, but it was a mistake.
Entertaining an out of town guest.
I had an out of town guest from NYC that I invited to dine with me. I selected the Grove because of it's location, and because I have been there before and always had a good experience. The service was poor, and slow. The waiter had very little knowledge of the wine list, and also did not help us make choices when we ordered the cheese tray. The cheese tray arrived with only two small portions of cheese, the onions were piled up against the cheese and there were only three very small slivers of apple to go with the cheese. It was quite unappealing. We sent it back. We pointed out the problem and the waiter made no attempt to make it better. I ordered a beet salad that had so much vinegar on it I couldn't eat it and my friend's vegetable entree was bland and poorly presented. We sent it all back. The waiter made no attempt to try and make anything better for us. I will never go back. It was very embarrassing for me to bring someone who knows about food, from NYC and have a disaster for dinner. There was clearly no one in charge that night. The kitchen had no head chef on duty and a restaurant manager never came to talk us about all of the problems.
Food was fantastic
Had a daddy-daughters date night here. Food was fantastic. Started with some appetizers - gaucamole (good), beet salad (good), bread (good). Portions were a lot larger than I had thought, could have easily shared those three appetizers with 4 adults. I had a rib-eye, girls had pan-seared salmon. Steak was cooked correctly. Salmon was cooked correctly (medium). Food came out surprisingly quick. Not sure if this is a normal occurrence, or if it was because I had two children with me. I wasn't complaining though. My cocktail take on a collins was good, wine selection was nice and diverse, and it was nice to have a port for dessert. I had the chocolate torte for dessert, it was ok. Service was best described as prompt but short. I wouldn't describe my server friendly, but he did do his job and he did it quick.

One of my favorite in Houston Difficult to find a better view in Houston One of the view not on a parking lot. Great food and cocktail. Stay the Avocado starter !!
Service Service Service
The food was excellent but it was the service that raised my opinion of this restaurant. Our server was witty attentive and 'there' the minute we had a need. He informed us about the local food in a very entertaining was and it made our experience more pleasurable. The Sides were some of the tastiest vegetables I have ever eaten, especially those brusselsprouts!!! Who knew!!! I had the sea bass special cooked in parchment - melt in your mouth delicious. Another colleague is vegetarian, and there was a great selection for him to choose from too. A great find this restaurant.

The food was alright. The service was not attentive enough, but the location and view is great.
I had lunch here on 2/24 with a group. We were attending an event at GR Brown and the event ran late at lunch time so we would not make our scheduled reservation. We called and The Grove switched our time but the event shortened a session so we had an hour for lunch that began prior to our new reservation time. VERY Confusing! In spite of that the Maitre D was super helpful and patient in getting us all seated and done. The waiter at my table was excellent. He was quick and efficient. Excellent food too. Highly recommend The Grove.
When we got to The Grove they could not find my reservation.
The food was excellent. Wait staff was excellent, bartender was slow prior to seating. Noise level off the charts -way too loud.
Not your ordinary eatery!
Wow, this place did impress! Incredible view of the park and artistic installations best viewed at night that are sure to please! Menu options require some explanations, but the serving staff is well versed and are glad to help. Servings are hearty and heart healthy for all types - from vegan to carnivorous, this menu will please every pallet. My advise - if you see something you might like but just aren't sure, take the chance! Creative presentations with color, flavor and texture really combine for and extraordinary experience.
Dinner to Remember
As soon as you walk into the restaurant the layout and décor of the room is amazing. They provide such a romantic setting that it is always great to go on a date with your loved one. The waiter then had a great attitude, knew what he was talking about, and helped us make the best choices when it came to the wine and food. To the most important part of the night: the food. The food was amazing! Presentation was great and the food was amazing. I would definitely be coming back!

I took visitors to The grove because of the energetic Bar and great cocktails as well as the wonderful dining experience. While the Dining did not disappoint, I was not happy with the bar service. On a "dead" night my guest had to go to the bar for us to get our drinks. Twice. And we had to beg for some munchies citing past experiences at the Bar. Shame on The Grove!
my husband and i felt the set menu was not all impressive. lack in flavor, overcooked smoked ribs (almost charrred). for the price we had better food elsewhere during restaurant week. Dessert petit fours were good though.
The Guacamole is Lime-tastic!

not up to expectations
The service was not very good. The order came out wrong and we were charged for things we did not order. Drink orders took forever and were not right when it finally showed up. The manager was fair and understanding and apologetic as well. The menu published for brunch was not even offered so we had to order off the regular menu. Overall, it was not a good experience for Valentine's Day.
Great setting, good food, ok service.
We arrived early and were able to be seated early. Our group of four was pretty happy with the prix fixe menu choices. The grilled redfish was great, as were the oysters. The pork riblets were really dried out and the petit fours dessert plate was so so. Our waiter was pleasant, but seemed to forget about us. We had to get someone to find our waiter to order coffee.
Made a reservation and we were seated immediately. Great service and good food. It was a set VD menu and I had the oysters and snapper. My meal was great, and my wife said she loved her redfish. I'd recommend the Grove to anyone.
I was absolutely astounded by this restaurant. The food was incredible, the server was very attentive and extremely helpful, the cook agreed to tailor the meal per requests, the atmosphere was romantic and calm, the view was incredible and overall an amazing experience. We arrived exactly at our reservation time and not a moment sooner and were immediately sat and pampered. We both thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience.

Excellent location, meal, wait staff. I will definitely return. Thank you to everyone who made this a successful business dinner.
Excellent for our business lunch meeting

Construction on the area makes it hard to get to. Valet parking at $8 + tip is an unwelcome surprise for out of town guests. Food and service were first rate. Generous portions but pricey.

Great Resturant to finish the deal
The food and service were amazing! Somehow the candles kept going out. The scenery was great, however the balcony was only available for partys.
