The Golden Lamb Ratings and Reviews
Great Birthday Dinner
My family took me out for my birthday dinner at the Golden Lamb and the food was fantastic. My husband and I had the fired chicken which was great as usual. My kids had the burgers which were cooked just right and my one daughter even tried the Bison burger and said it was great. The server was great and constantly filled our glasses and asked if we needed anything. It was a great experience all around.
Food was good but I find steak better at a restaur
Advised it was our anniversary and they didn't do a thing. Not even a happy anniversary.
The food at their prix fixe dinner during Restaurant Week was great but the wine was so overpriced it clouded the event.
Better than I ever expected!
I grew up hearing about Golden Lamb but had never dined there until my daughter requested we go there to celebrate her 15th birthday. She decided we would have dinner there during our "Girl's Day Out" so the entire day would be memorable. We both ordered things we never had before and I must say we both absolutely loved the food all the way from different appetizers, first, second, third courses, desserts, and the 4 different mocktails. They even brought out a complimentary slice of pie for my daughter's birthday. I can't say a single negative thing about the food. Our waitress was fantastic and never left us with an empty glass. And after dinner our waitress gave us the history on the building, including the ghostly history, then even give us a quick tour of the downstairs. She directed us to where we could find other points of interests on the other floors of the building. It was so great we have decided to make this a tradition on her birthday for years to come. Thank you for a great dinner!
Never been disappointed
I LOVE eating at the Golden Lamb! It's alway enjoyable and the food is wonderful. It doesn't make a difference if it's lunch or dinner it's great.
The Golden Lamb is a historical site and the restaurant is one of those standard fare places. The food was fine and the service was very good.
Great time had by everyone!
Service was excellent; they easily made accommodations for our infant granddaughter as well as my elderly mother. Server had a great personality; he was attentive, spaced things well, made sure refills happened in a timely manner, etc. Food was excellent; the sauerkraut balls were a big hit will all the adults. We wanted to try the rhubary/strawberry cobbler, but were too full. Maybe next time!
Great food, nice atsmosphere
Cousin and I were welcoming back from Florida our niece and friend. One of us loves the chicken (half price that day) and two of us love the sliders. I always have to have the sauerkraut balls. They shared the strawberry/rubarb cobbler and I like the chess pie. We prefer the Lebanon Room, just off the reservation desk for lunch. We can talk and hear ourselves and it doesn't seem as formal as the dining room. Our server was excellent!
Great place to get together
We were not rushed and we were waited on in a timely manner. We meet there regularly from Columbus and Union Ky. It's a good halfway meeting place and is a nice piece of history.
Lunch at the Lamb
Enjoyed lunch with several lady friends. Love the Chicken salad but wish I could have gotten it on wheat bread.
Unique dining - historical with great energy
Wonderful charm of a favorite historical institution but kept alive and energetic with immaculate clean and crisp appearance, upbeat menu and drink selections-always feels special. Easter Sunday menu only slightly limited, service was prompt and efficient. Nice special drinks selection on bar menu. Carrot soup delicious from starter menu; tenderloin was also prepared perfectly and quite tasty but I didn't find the apple pie dessert very good. Coffee was fresh and excellent.
Our family traveling from varying distances met here for Easter. We dined here last Easter and couldn't wait to return. The special menu featured enough choices to satisfy everyone. We each ordered a tasty, creative beverage. Courses were well spaced, servce attentive. we felt no pressure to vacate immediately.

Just an excellent time with family and good food. You can't go wrong.
Our server was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Thanks for the consistency in the quality of your food.
Very nice atmosphere. I enjoyed the attention to historic detail that has been preserved. The food quality is very good and the service was outstanding. I thought the Saturday brunch menu was slightly limited. Over all I would recommend dining at The Golden Lamb. Also the tour of the rest of the Hotel was very interesting.
Food was good but mostly paying for ambience .
Food was overpriced for portions and quality. Staff was way less excited to be there than we were . Waitress timing was poor when bringing out birthday desserts as not all people were seated at our party . As well as not bringing specific items asked for. Of course the ambience was beautiful and the history is interesting. Would visit again only during lunch times with their lunch menu .
Great local cuisine!
The building is over 200 years old, but well maintained. The menu is fairly simple, but had a lot of local produce and meats. The flavors of all items served complemented each other quite nicely. Should I ever be in Lebanon, Ohio, again, I will definitely make a stop here!
On Our bucket list
We have read a lot about the Golden Lamb since we moved to northern Kentucky. Wanting to take a day trip, we headed to Lebanon for dinner and to experience a night in the inn. The service was excellent and the food was very good. However, the menu choices were not very exciting for us. While we loved our dinners, there was nothing on the menu that jumped out at us as something we had never tried, or wanted to try. While we will return again to spend the night, we would either eat in the tavern and simply have a burger, or check out what else this quaint town has to offer.
We have been going to the Golden Lamb for the past 2 years for casual dining and for special events. We are always pleased with the friendliness of the staff and the great food. We had the Fried Chicken several times on different visits and it is always consistently prepared and never fails to please. The most important thing is the complete satisfaction from the first appetizer to the final cup of coffee. Often other establishments will miss that final aspect of providing a complete experience and serve less than satisfying desserts and coffee. Well done ! Again !
Met here for a cousins lunch as an in between Columbus and Xenia location. Great experience from server, to food to setting, will definitely be back!
Fried Chicken Special Night
We both went there for the fried chicken, which was half price on Wednesday nights in March. It was very good. My only disappointment is that it did not include the wing, which is my favorite part of the chicken. For the most part, the sides were very good. The green beans were undercooked and quite tough.
We love to end the day with dinner at the Golden Lamb after antique shopping. The food is excellent and servers are very friendly and efficient. Can't wait for our next trip!
Sunday (Birthday) Brunch
I had not been to the Golden Lamb in many years and always had good food. It was very over priced for the quality of the food. We ordered brunch. The sauerkraut balls with mustard were very good. The Omelet was small and dry. Potatoes were a bit greasy. The Biscuit was very dry and not served with butter or jelly. The Service was ok but not overly friendly.
Excellent food and service
We recently went to the Golden Lamb for a business lunch. The food and service were excellent.

We planned a Valentine's Day Dinner at the Golden Lamb after a visit to Jungle Jim's International Market In Fairfield , Ohio. On our way to the Golden Lamb there was a snowstorm and we decided it was too nasty to return to Columbus so asked for a room at the Golden Lamb which they had. Dinner was great, cocktails and wine, a shareable relish plate, prime rib and fried chicken, both excellent, finished off with a rhubarb cobbler. Our waiter Steve was most attentive. Regarding our overnight stay, we arrived without luggage since we hadn't planned to stay overnight. No problem, the courteous and friendly staff put together a kit with necessities such as, toothbrushes, toothpaste, etc. We will go pack for other special occasions and spend some time at this historic spot in Lebanon, Ohio.
Great place, great food. My only complaint is the server, it was my first time here and she didn't explained the menu well. It made ordering a confusing and almost uncomfortable experience. Other than that it was a good experience.
First visit but not my last
My only complaint is that we were seated next to the huge picture window. Great view of the town but also quite chilly when it's only 12 degrees outside. We went for brunch and now looking forward to a dinner.
Our favorite restaurant.
We live in Lebanon and typically eat at the Black Horse Tavern, the bar portion of The Golden Lamb. I had forgotten they serve breakfast. We will most definitely go back for breakfast. I had their take on Eggs Benedict with locally sourced ham. It was one of the best I've had. The Bloody Mary was amazing! And the service was top notch.
Wonderful Valentines Day Dinner
The food and service was absolutely amazing. Our family had a great time walking through the Inn. We will make dinner at the Golden Lamb a family tradition.
Great food in a great setting
The Golden Lamb is a great place to eat on many levels. You can go there just for the great food, and you won't be disappointed. Or, you can go because of the ambiance. The furnishings and décor are tasteful and conducive to table conversations. Or, you can go for the history. There are mementos and displays everywhere to remind you of the 200 year old history of the place. You can feel the presence of the many US Presidents and other notables that have been there. Or, go for all of the above!
Historic Site/Great Brunch
We've been to brunch on a Saturday at The Golden Lamb twice in the past 2 months and have thoroughly enjoyed both visits. The menu variety is great, and everyone in our party was pleased with their selections. Not only is a guest treated to great food at The Golden Lamb but it is such a wonderful historic venue, that you must tour the upper floors to learn more about the celebrity visitors to the Inn.
A Great Meal!
We celebrated our wedding anniversary at The Golden Lamb. The lamb shank was EXCELLENT! The entire meal was very delicious and the service was top notch. We will certainly return to The Golden Lamb in the future. The house dressing was so good that we bought a bottle to take home.
Golden Lamb Resteraunt
Food was wonderful, atmosphere was great. I don't believe this is a place for children. Love all the historical charm and the gentleman that came around to give the history of the place.
My favorite place
We dined at 5:00p.m. due to having seniors and children in our party, which is why the noise level was very low. We were celebrating two birthdays in our group. The food and service are always fantastic. We live north of Cincinnati and enjoy the ride to Lebanon. I have never been disappointed at The Golden Lamb. They serve the best fried chicken ever!
Always a special visit
Charming environment, good food, pleasant service - Golden Lamb has been a special place for us for 30 years. Browsing the antique shops nearby is an added attraction.

Very neat how you can walk though the hotel and see where our presidents have stayed.
Whole new experience
It's been years since our last visit. Then: we found the menu uninteresting and the food was quite average. It was so boring we had no interest in returning. NOW: we had not heard that the GL had improved. We were bored with our regular haunts and were up for getting out of Cincinnati. The building is the same, but many things seemed improved, including a interesting menu. We chose their three course special and was impressed with everything. Additionally, the blueberry cobbler with vanilla gelato was delicious. We had water with our dinner, so this review was not enhanced by the effects of some good vino!
AN Ohio Gem
Having grown up in the area I've been to the Golden Lamb a few times over the last 30+ years. It was always a "special occasion", but also I considered it as a family restaurant. Family as in good food the kids would like, and reasonably priced. But as much as you have to love the ambiance, never considered it when looking for fine dining. That has changed. They have a new fit for life menu option which was creative, tasty, and really a large meal. The appetizer and salads were we chose were roasted cauliflower and a brussel sprout salad. Our main course was the flat iron steak. Steak was a thick cut, tender and cooked perfectly. Other meals were off the menu and were excellent. Not a "foodie" item, but the fried chicken is great. They also did a nice job accommodating for gluten and dairy allergies. I gave the food 5 stars, because I was pleasantly surprised. Probably should be a 4 star - but that is comparing to the best and pricier competition. Didn't really look at the wine list, went for cocktails that were excellent.
Service is always fabulous
The Golden Lamb does not have an extensive menu. However, the choices they do have are very delicious. The warm buns with the apple butter are a real treat. The atmopshere is old understated charm in this very historic building.. The service is always outstanding. Your glass does not empty. They check back often to make sure everything is still satisfactory. After your meal, take a self-guided tour of the inn. It is filled with fabulous history. It is expensive for an every day lunch but for those special times when you want to meet an old friend, celebrate, or just shop in the cute town of Lebanon, you can't beat The Golden Lamb!
Beautiful Christmas decorations still up were encouraging on a cold January night. When we walked in it was WARM; and was a pleasure from there. The reservation service was flawless. Our server sweet and competent. Nice quite evening. Great ambiance. We had a good time. Thank you
