Great ambience, great service, excellent food. Ahi tuna was wonderful.
review of service, comfort, food quality, etc.
For the impatient, I will get right at it. My wife and I found our visit to be absolutely FLAWLESS, A PERFECT EXPERIENCE! From the Gentleman at the desk who assigned our table, to the lady that seated us, to the ladies that served our water, got us prepared for our meal, to our outstanding Server, Abraham, and all the other men that served us, it again was a perfect experience. We were really impressed with the way Abraham and all the personnel kept very attentive, made our meal a seamless event. I was impressed how quick Abraham was able to keep our dinner moving which, I'm sure, speaks well of the kitchen staff, also. The food was excellent and enjoyable. Could not have been any better. In view of the service and quality of our food I must say the pricing was very appropriate, so no problems there. We have not been to the Flying V for a couple of years, but it sure was nice to experience such a wonderful evening again. Some years back we used to go to Anthony's and always had good food and excellent service. I can tell you that Abraham and his team surpassed even those previous events at other places. It is a long drive for us but we now have renewed interest in the Flying V and are looking forward to a return visit. We hope our satisfaction with our evening is passed on to those who served us. One other item of importance to us is the noise level. When we were there the other night it was reasonably quiet which made our conversing a pleasure. Keep up the great work and effort, you made us happy!
Great Night Out
Four of us went to just eat and talk and this is a perfect place for great ambience and food. The ahi tuna was the best I have had sine Cape Cod. Guacamole as always was delicious. Hard to beat the view too. The service was just right. Competent and efficient, but not intrusive.
Returned with friends
We enjoyed our early evening dinner experience. Beautiful view, excellent service and the food was delicious. All 4 of us rated our meals excellent and we each had a different entree! I recommend the V for a delicious meal.
Food was disappointing.
Guacamole was amazing! I ordered the tenderloin and it was okay. Asparagus and mashed potatoes were good. My date ordered the chicken and it was very spicy. He was very disappointed and didn't eat it. Dessert was okay. We ordered the chocolate tart to share, very dry. Cocktails were okay. Tequila mule was okay and the jalapeno margarita was super strong and almost too spicy. The meal was just okay. No plans to dine there again. I was very disappointed as this place had such great reviews. I say get the guacamole and a couple beverages, save dinner for a better place.

Beautiful outdoor eating. Great good, superb service.
Nice golf course view.
We went for our wedding anniversary. The restaurant is beautiful inside. Has a old world feel. The service is excellent. Only issue was the food was a little disappointing. Our food had to much salt. My husband had to send his salmon back because i the strong taste of salt. The manger took care of and brought him another meal, but it was 25 min after my food was brought. So watched each other eat. They did not charge my husband for his meal but took a little away from the experience. Service was perfect. They brought a dessert and another apology . Wine list is ok not very impressive. The outside seating looked nice to sit off the golf course to have a drink while the sunset might be a good pick.

I thought The Flying V was pretty nice. It's situated next to the golf course at the resort, with many golfers walking by early in the evening. The crowd was a bit on the older side, which isn't necessarily a bad thing. I'd say the atmosphere was pretty relaxed with an element of fine dining. The food was all pretty solid. The guacamole seems a bit steep at $18, but it's undeniably good. I had the Ahi Tuna, and it was pretty good as well. I'm always a tad hesitant to order seafood in the desert, but it tasted just fine. The Flying V margarita was great, and I'm sure I'd love to try their many other margarita options available. All in all, we had a nice, relaxing, tasty dinner with excellent service.
We hD not been back to the Flying V for a couple years. It was absolutely delightful. Servoce was wonderful, As was the food and ambiance. We were wonderfully surprised. Thoroughly enjoyed.

The food here is always good. Their menu changes frequently, so chances are good that the online menu on their website or Open Table is not current. Either way, you are sure to find something delicious.
Staff was cordial, food was average but not par for cost. Expected better. Ordered the special T-bone (as recommended by staff), it was a bit dry, thin, and over done. Anyway....not on the recommended list.
Love the Tableside Guacamole
This is a great place for outside dining on the patio and watching the sun go down. The tableside Guacamole is a must. Excellent. Service is very good and the menu always has something new to offer. The ribs are excellent as well as the cornbread that comes with dinner. The menu is varied and always something new to try. If you love tequila they have an excellent selecton. This is a favorite that we continue to go back to time and time again.
This was our first visit to the Flying V. I totally agree with all the positive reviews . I had the Butternut squash salad which was wonderful! For a main course I had the Carne Asada Quesadilla it was delicious. My husband had the Rabbit Chilie Rellno which was excellent. For a main course he ordered the Barramundi special. It was prepared with a delicious sauce. We felt the helpings were large and were too full to eat desert. The service was very good and eating outside on the patio made the experience perfect. We will go back.
Great Food and Great Service
The food and service at the Flying V was awesome! We highly recommend it for an evening out or a weekend brunch.
Disappointing food, overpriced, great service.
My husband and I left wondering how this could possibly be the best restaurant in Tucson (per Yelp and Trip Advisor). We understand the price point given it's somewhat secluded location at the Loews Ventana, but the only reason we went instead of leaving the hotel was because of the rating. Besides the level of service (excellent on all accounts), This is nothing more than a typical hotel restaurant with mediocre and overpriced food with a mature clientele. All of the vegetables that we were served were undercooked and underseasoned. I ordered the tenderloin and it was served sliced in half horizontally. I have never seen such a thing and it ruined the piece of meat.
A must stop.
The staff is knowledgeable and helpful. Food is consistently excellent.
Our waiter was perfect!! Non intrusive but there when we needed him. Made knowledgeable suggestions. The food was incredibly delicious!! The beef tenderloin was cooked to perfection. The jack cornbread and spread, moist and delicious. Garlic mashed potatoes, great. The beef cheek french fries, incredible. A perfect fine dining experience. The entire staff was friendly.
Not a good nite! Meals were over priced and food quality was lacking. Tough tenderloin, ravioli was over cooked and shared salad was very small. We have loved thos place in the past but this was a bad experience.
I took my special someone to the Flying V Bar on Valentine's day and the staff made everything possible for me to give her a night she will always remember. The staff was kind and very professional with every aspect one expects from a fine dining restaurant. I would consider going there again in the future!
Our second visit here and dined on Valentine's Day. We had a better experience on our first visit. On Valentine's Day, they have limited selection on their menu. We were expecting to see a Prix fixe menu sine it is a special occasion. The atmosphere is still romantic, and the service is impeccable.
Scenic and fun spot
Nestled in the mountains, the restaurant provides great views. The guacamole made table side was delicious. My husband had the ribs which were also well prepared. I was however disappointed in the scallop entree. Somewhat tasteless. The wait staff was very attentive and service was fast considering that it was Valentine's weekend and very busy. Prices of entrees were reasonable .

the food was just OK. Service very indifferent. Typical large convention hotel restaurant.
We had a wonderful birthday dinner. The table side guacomole was fabulous. The service was great. Our entrees were delicious. We enjoyed a special evening.
Wonderful server, Michael, and all of the other servers talked to us by name and provided us with a very special evening for our anniversary. We enjoyed the evening. The food was delicious!
Great time with guests
Excellent again and a fun spot for the out of town guests. Remains a favorite dining place for us.
Great, as always!
Dining at the Flying V is a must when I am Tucson. It has never disappointed. Extremely good food, great table side guacamole, and a nice wine list are a great combination. Rock Saul made sure to accommodate my wife and I on a special variation from the menu we requested in advance, and Fabian provided his usual attentive service. We enjoyed this visit very much.
We had a wonderful time at the Flying J.
We even watched the Arizona basketball game at the bar, as our room did not carry Pac 12.
Great customer dinner
Very nice meal, table size guacamole was fantastic. Everyone in group had good food, never rushed.
We ate early and enjoyed the sunset. The wait staff was very attentive and the food was excellent. It was nice to also have room between tables so as to have some privacy with conversations.
This restaurant is expensive, but the ambiance is worth it.
Not what I expected
Both the Open Table version of the menu and the resort's own menu listing represented a clear Southwestern influence on the preparations. Except for the guacamole and margaritas there was precious little offered in the Southwestern style. What we got was okay and the wait staff was helpful but overall the price/value just wasn't there. The wines by the glass were respectably priced.
The menu listed on the OpenTable app was ...
The menu listed on the OpenTable app was materially different than what was offered in the restaurant. The prices were higher at the restaurant and house specialty items such as the Lobster Tacos were not offered. The food was mediocre and the portions were too small but the service and ambiance were good.
Always Great Service and Food
We have been eating at the Flying V Grill for many years. Always a pleasure and Rock Saul sets a great tone for his employees. Everyone is very courteous and nice and they pay great attention to you. The table-side guacamole is to die for. I had the scallops and they were very good. Always an interesting spin on things. The shrimp appetizers were unusual, but tasty. I have also had the fish and steak in the past and they were prepared very well. Flying V puts a slightly different spin on things. Cannot beat the view....
Wish it wasn't so far away
Hotel restaurants often aren't all that great, but this one is truly an exception. The service, food, and ambiance is outstanding. Definitely recommend the Ahi Tuna and Guacamole. Hope to come back to visit again!
Business dinner that exceeded our expectations
Several of us had the ribeye steak, which was perfect, along with fantastic, but not overly intrusive service. Good wine selection, and a nice atmosphere. A great dinner was had by all.
Last night dinner in Tucson
We had a fabulous dinner in a beautiful setting for our last night in Tucson.
