The Blue Point Ratings and Reviews
Service was extremely slow, and the food was just OK. We should have known, sign at the road says "Chef Wanted" But no discount for lack of service if this was the cause.
We have been to the Blue Point a half do ...
We have been to the Blue Point a half dozen times over the past 8 years on our weekly vacations. We were disappointed this time. I left a note on the tab: "The service was great! The fish was overcooked and the short rib looked and tasted like pot roast. Sorry." The fish was flounder, the local catch of the day. It was mushy. The short rib was dry and tasteless and cut like pot roast. It had no rib and was badly in need of a burgundy based sauce or similar sauce for moisture and flavor. The restaurant is pricey for the Outer Banks. So, I expect it to be a great experience every time. The hostess and servers were all friendly and accommodating. We had a great booth by the window overlooking the Sound. But the entrees weren't as good as what we could have eaten at Taco Bell.
our blue point experience
the blue point has always been our go-to place for special occasions or just one we make special by going there. i also love open table for making reservations.
Love this place
This was my second visit. My first was in 2009. The service and quality hasn't changed one bit. The food is always amazing. We both agreed that the calamari is the best we've ever had. My steak was perfect and my boyfriend's catfish was incredibly tasty. We couldn't have asked for a better dinner out while in OBX. I can't remember our server's name but she was also amazing. Thank you Blue Point!!! We'll be back!
Traveling to the Outer Banks for the first time we weren't really sure where we should have dinner. Chose the Blue Point and it was a terrific choice. We showed up about an hour earlier than our reservation taking a chance for an early seating. Worse case we would have had drinks at their bar. Luckily we were able to ge immediate seating with a wonderful view of the water. Service was amazingly great! Meals were perfect and we chose a bottle of Bialle's Black Chicken wine. All in all the dinner was fantastic!

We love the Blue Point and try to visit each time we visit the Outer Banks. We love the food and the atmosphere. Service was superb!
Had the extreme delight to enjoy a date night with my husband at the Blue Point in Duck, NC. Our table overlooked the sound and was absolutely beautiful! Our server was so helpful and friendly and she went out of her way to make us and every one she served feel very special! The food was AMAZING! We started off with roasted Calamari with tomatoes, garlic and capers which was so different from the usual fried fare! It was out of this world. I had the flounder special that was also amazing and my husband had the crabcakes! Price was a little higher than most restaurants but it is so well worth it! Can't wait for our next visit
Bluepoint - Awesome as always.
We always love going to The Bluepoint in Duck. Each and every item on the menu is fabulously prepared and locally sourced when possible. The owners, chefs, and staff are all always really friendly and welcoming. This is hands down the best restaurant in the northern beaches of the Outer Banks! We would recommend it to anyone! Book early in the summer as reservations fill up really quickly!
Always great food
Great for seafood lovers and nonseafood lovers. The emphasis on local food is excellent, the fresh catch selection is always interesting and unique. A wonderful dining experience.

Another fabulous dinner! I love taking friends to The Blue Point. The food and cocktails are fresh and imaginative. Crab cakes are so good and so were the scallops. My friend thought the mini-wedge, which we shared, was the best wedge salad she'd had. And they made two plates for us - yet another nice touch from a classy place.
Good food, good service, always busy, reservations for dinner seem a must even in the off season.

What a great find. I can see why it is a local favorite. The food the service and the drinks are exceptional and very innovative. We had to go back the next evening to eat dessert and try the after dinner drinks menu.
Tried and true
One of our favorites for almost 20 years. The crab cakes are excellent. Desserts are great!
Blue Point is GREAT!
Delicious dinner at sunset! Couldn't be much better!
Good food, beautiful view
We've been to Blue Point several times and have enjoyed this restaurant, particularly for the water view. The food is good, though pricey but the wait staff is very attentive and want to make sure you have a good dining experience. Blue Point is good for a special occasion. It also offers a nice lunch for less cost.
Fun again at the Blue Point bar
My husband and I love to sit at the bar for drinks and supper, not only because we can sit close to each other and chat, have a great sunset view, see the people coming and going, but because the staff at the bar is always entertaining and engaging. This past visit, Bob appreciated the presentation of the (delicious) whole rockfish and we both enjoyed the fiddlehead fern and asparagus salad. I count on clever salad creations at the BP and am never disappointed. Whether it's John, Simon, Chris, or Erin, we're always entertained. Hands down, our favorite choice for dining on the OBX!
Remains best on the OBX.
Great food, all regional and creatively prepared; terrific, experienced, and genuinely nice wait staff ; warm, friendly atmosphere -- and the rod is fabulous.
I was very disappointed with The Blue Point. Service was horribly slow, food arrived cold, and response to concerns not managed well. Will never go back. Very sad as we had read such fabulous reviews.
The food is delicious, the wait staff were attentive, prices moderate

Whenever we visit the Outer Banks, dinner at the Blue Point is a must. The welcome is always warm and personable and the food and service are consistently excellent. The fun ambiance adds to the overall experience. A great spot!
Blue Point is the BEST place in the Outer Banks.
Blue Point has the perfect blend of casual elegance. The mod style decor is inviting and classy, while still being relaxed enough to pop in while you're on vacation and not necessarily packed to dress to the nines. The staff is always exceptionally friendly and attentive. And everything on the menu is divine. I've enjoyed brunch, lunch and dinner at Blue Point and never been disappointed. The cocktails menu is always vibrant and fun. The food is delicious and I always award points for the elegant presentation. And always save room for dessert! If you can book for sunset over the sound.

Lunch in Duck
Our family of 8 enjoyed a leisurely lunch in Duck @ North Point. The staff was very friendly, helpful & nice to our 3 grandkids. My Shrimp & Grits was excellent. I ordered the red eye gravy on the side & was glad that I did. Too spicy & meaty for me. I am a traditionalist! My glass of Sauvignon Blanc was the perfect pairing. The crab cakes & kids' menu were great. Loved the view with many hungry Canadian Geese & shops along the boardwalk.

The menu seemed unseasonal for early spring - there was some fish but also dishes with sweet potato and roasted vegetables and other autumnal ingredients. My husband had a nice bright plate of crab cakes, but my rabbit and gnocchi was monochromatic and only had a very little texture from the mustard seeds. The ceviche starter was fine but not really interesting, probably similar to what would be found anywhere. We had friendly service but wouldn't make a point fi going back.

Food was amazing as always!!
We have been dining at Blue Point for 18 years. Unfortunately, this was the worst table we've have been given. Very noisy and distracting. Still, the food and service were, as always, excellent.
Blue Point never disappoints!
This is my favorite restaurant on the OBX. Always consistent, no matter what time of year. It was quite busy on Saturday night, looked like a full house and it's only early March. We had reservations and were seated right away. Every waiter, manager, hostess, etc. is always so friendly and welcoming. There were four in our party and we all loved our salads/soups and entrees. One of the only restaurants on the Outer Banks that serves mountain trout and it was delicious. The dessert was a chocolate waffle, toasted marshmallows & bananas along with a dollop of ice cream. To die for.
Food beautifully served. Flavors excellent. Best short rib dish ever.. Ice cream dessert was worthy. We split a salad and waitstaff brought on 2 smaller plates. For us, this gets bonus points. Willr eturn.
Excellent service and food - highly recommend!
We were very impressed with Blue Point. Excellent food, great service, and they all acknowledged it was my birthday as we put in the reservation. Highly recommend!
Never disappointed at Blue Point
We have been coming to the Outer Banks for quite a few years. One of our go-to places is Blue Point and we haven't been disappointed. This past week was no exception. Not only was the food delicious and our waiter exceptional but, as two of our party were celebrating birthdays, two desserts with candles were brought to our table and the desserts were on the house! We like the pace at Blue Point, we never feel rushed, and in the better weather, we'd loved having before dinner drinks outside watching the sun set over the sound. Its just a great place!
We visit Duck each year and always save a night for Blue Point. No disappointment this time, either. The view of the Sound is wonderful, the food very good, excellent bar selections, and the service good. Glad we had OT reservations that Friday night, the place was jumping.
Blue Point Shines in February
We visited the Blue Point last week in the peak of off-season, and everything was the same. Same great atmosphere, service, food and wine! Thank goodness it stays open all year. Our meal was made particularly nice by our server, Felisha, who not only provided great service but filled us in on the food prep and how it was to live as a friend of mine calls the Outer Banks," the edge of the known world." Thanks to Felisha and the Blue Point staff for creating this jewel in the town of Duck NC. Do yourself a favor and go..., if you can get a reservation.
Great place for a special occasion or just to treat yourself! Our server, Ellen, was wonderful as always.
