The Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Continues 4 star
My wife and I dined here frequently. It is consistently on a par with the best restaurants in Nashville or Louisville and exceeds the great majority. My wife and one of her friends frequently order salmon at restaurants. This salmon according to them is it not the best at least equal to the best. The chef also knows how to properly prepare pasta. There is frequently a turnover in the waitstaff but they always are attentive and well-trained.

Very well pleased with The Bistro
Unfamiliar with Bowling Green, KY, I simply did a search for a restaurant that would offer an experience that we could not find in our home town. The web-based picture of the Bistro was not the selling point; however, the menu looked unique and offered a variety of choices - steak, fish, pork, and more. From the greeting at our arrival, to the greeting of the waiter, and throughout the meal, the service is first class, the food is delicious, and the environment afforded the opportunity for quiet conversation. Very well pleased with the entire experiences - thank you. John from Charlotte, NC

We walked to The Bistro from the Hyatt Place Hotel (right near Western Kentucky University) after making our reservation on OpenTable.com. We ordered the fabulous crab beignet appetizers. They were very yummy, with lots of REAL crab meat. The husband had the special Filet Mignon and it was delicious with some kind of baked on topping. I thoroughly enjoyed the fish special. Dessert was a Bailey's Coffee mousse cake, and we both wanted a seconds! Only drawback? No bread included with the meal.
trying too hard
The venue is loud since its a room with wood floors. Brought a mascato instead of pinot grigio. $25 for 3 scallops and some cranberry risotto that was inedible. The filet was delish though. I felt nickel and dimed paying 4 for a salad and 18% gratuity added for a party of 2??? They want this place to be great and priced it like it is, but it isn't.
Great Valentine's Dinner
My husband and I made reservations here for a Friday night on Valentine's Day weekend. Table was ready when we got there which was nice. We had great service and the food was incredible. Everything we ate from the appetizer to the dessert was wonderful! The atmosphere is charming and unique for the area. We would definitely recommend and want to bring friends back with us next time.
We often stay over in Bowling Green KY on trips between Indiana and Alabama. Now we will definitely be staying over just because of this restaurant. Lovely setting. Great service with the staff being able to explain all menu items and specials. Menu items offered a nice variety, and the food we chose was excellent. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing and we were never rushed. The pacing of delivering drinks and food choice was perfectly done. Definitely recommend this restaurant - have already recommended it to relatives and friends. Will definitely be back.
We have been here a few times and always enjoy returning. The food is very good and we like being able to sit indoors or out on the patio when weather permits.
I love the Bistro! Great food and service.
I always have a wonderful time at The Bistro! They have a small dining room that would be great to watch a snow storm in as it's all windows. There is a back porch for summer dining and there is a nice large room for a group of 15. They say that sometimes card groups go and dine there while playing cards. Also, there is a function room on the second floor for even larger groups. It's a wonderful dining place. I love it.
Great personal service
I have dined at The Bistro for several years. The owners and the wait service has always been outstanding. When my family and colleagues come to town they insist that we dine at The Bistro at least once before they leave. We have visitors from all over the world come to Bowling Green and the Bistro is their favorite dining place. I guess the biggest compliment I can make is, "You guys remember your guests!" That means a lot.
Charming place with excellent food!
The food was amazing and reasonably priced. The crab beignets are one of the best appetizers I've ever had, and the shrimp and grits were outstanding, too. A full romantic meal for two with cocktails, appetizer, main course, and dessert only ran around $55. Not bad at all for all we had!
Looking for a terrific steak?
The filet was good perfectly and we had the special that came with a home made pimento cheese topping. Sounds weird but it was delicious. We also had the rare tuna and it was great. We certainly go back when we are in the area. Martini's are good as well.
Our place to eat when in Bowling Green
We travel through Bowling Green a couple of times each year and look forward to dinner at the Bistro. We've always had a tasty meal with creative choices. The wait staff have been attentive and helpful. Last night all three of us enjoyed a special of chicken and shrimp with rice and a spicey tomato sauce, but it was hard to decide. I also enjoyed my blood orange margarita. Personally I find the dining room decor depressing; I wouldn't want to sit there regularly, but on occasion it's fine, and overall this has been a consistently good choice.

Four guys from out of town looking for a good dinner and we found it. Our waiter, Jordan, was great. Food was great. Some unusual offerings that were worth the risk and turned out to be wonderful. Great find by out of owners. Would come here again if back in Bowling Green. Highly recommend.

The service was polite and timely. The entree portion was a little on the small side and decent, but not great. I liked the ambiance, decor, and outdoor seating.
Great atmosphere for a group dinner. Great outside covered seating available. Food is amazing and they always have great specials.
Awesome Hidden Gem!
Excellent place! Fresh, local ingredients prepared to perfection! We found this place based on Internet searches (we are from MN), and couldn't have been more pleased. Our kids had the filet and the ribeye, my husband had scallops, and I had the salmon. It was served with a lovely arugula, tomato, and corn salad dressed in a light vinegarette. It was delicious. And the service was attentive and excellent to boot. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town. We highly recommend the Bistro.
Elegant and classy
This is definitely the nicest restaurant in Bowling Green. I make it a point to go whenever I'm in town. The food is top notch, the decor is stylish and contemporary, the location is great, the service is excellent, etc. I highly recommend The Bistro!

Wonderful gem in Bowling Green
My husband and I visited Bowling Green for a night recently and the B & B where we stayed recommended this restaurant. It was wonderful. The service was excellent, food superb and atmosphere relaxing. My favorite was the crab beignets appetizer and my husband enjoyed the lamb kebobs. They had a lot of seafood and many daily specials. We didn't try the desserts but they sounded tasty as well.
We always have a wonderful time at The Bistro!

All the food was delicious. We ordered the crab meat beignet and it was wonderful! For entrees I ordered the penne rustica and it had great flavor and was very filling. My girlfriend ordered a special that was oysters on a bed of pasta with a wine sauce and that was great too! Third time I've been here and it never disappoints!
We enjoyed our Father's Day Brunch very much there
The food was wonderful and prepared in unique ways. The wait was not long at all and the food came out hot. Our waiter was attentive and smiled alot. He really seemed to care that we were taken care of.
We went there for Father's Day and he's still talking about it, two days later! The food was exceptional and the service was outstanding. As I told our incredible waiter, the only bad part of the whole experience was, it had to end. I highly recommend the Bistro if you want to truly experience fine dining at its' best.
The standard menu was interesting and offer a nice selection. The chef's specials that evening were great including a Lebanese amberjack was off the chart for flavor. The wait staff were quick and polite. We will return. Everyone on Open Table and Yelp raved about the crab beignets. They are legit. Must try them.
Reliable, consistent good food
Quality in presentation and ingredients. Comfortable and attractive setting and interior. Nice menu selection. Only issue was, although tasty, salmon was a bit too salted and on the edge of over cooked. Ask for it to be medium to avoid being dried out. Didn't realize i needed tho say so, thought that was the standard for salmon. Server was a delight as was our hostess. We'll return, but request less salt and medium Cooked salmon.
I was pleasantly surprised at the wonderful food and attentive service. The crab beignets were light and wonderful!
Family dinner for a special occasion was a success
We made reservations for a party of 11 to celebrate our daughter's junior prom. The waiter was very attentive. We had two children in our party and the kitchen was able to accommodate their food interests as well. The atmosphere was great. Welcoming. The food was delicious and the drinks from the bar menu were superb. Highly recommend whether it be a special occasion, date night, or a nice spot with friends.
A perfect Sunday!
We dined at the Bistro for Sunday brunch. It was delicious. We had one of the specials, open-face biscuit w/red eye gravy, country ham topped with eggs over easy. Also shared an order of French toast. The food was all very fresh. We also had a very tasty mimosa. We sat outside on the covered deck. It was a perfect spring morning and a very relaxing atmosphere. Our server had only been working there a week and it was his first time to work during brunch. He service was spectacular and his attitude even better. We had an enjoyable meal, never felt rushed and will definitely go back for brunch.
We were pleasantly surprised at the wonderful food and attentive service. The crab beignets were light and delightful. I had the yummy bacon wrapped shrimp on a bed of creamy grits. My husband enjoyed seared scallops and couscous. The corn coulis really made this dish extra special.
The food, decor, and ambience were perfect! We will be back!
1st time @ Bistro. very tasty. will definitely go back.
A Wonderful Find
My wife and I had passed this restaurant many times and never tried it. Since we were looking to try something new one evening, I made reservations and we were greatly rewarded. The service was good, the food wonderfully created and very flavorful. The portions could have been a little larger, but, we still were more than satisfied and even allowed us to enjoy the great deserts. No cons or criticisms that we could find. We left with the thought of definitely coming back soon. Great meal.
A Bowling Green Treasure
You know a restaurant is really special when you drive from another state to experience dining at it's finest. We live in Gallatin, TN, and make a special effort to include The Bistro on our dining circuit. It is always a pleasant atmosphere, great service, and exceptional food. Thank you to all who strive to make this such a wonderful dining establishment!
This was our first visit with you and a special occasion for my wife and me. We were there for an early dinner ahead of your regular dinner crowd. Our waitress made us feel very welcome and respected our wishes. We had the bacon wrapped dates as an appetizer, delicious. My wife ordered the salmon, very good. I had the curried scallops, outstanding! We shared a desert on the house, very much appreciated (this night was the 50th anniversary of our first date). The entire experience was exceptional. We will be returning soon.
The noise level was excruciating.
This is the sixth visit for a group of 3 couples. Our experience in the past has been good. This time the menu had been changed and did not measure up to what we had previously experienced. The staff service was quite good, while the noise level was excruciating. Our table was positioned between two other tables, each occupied by a group of women whose antics would rival a Super Bowl locker room celebration. Clearly the restaurant needs to be aware of the probability of this situation arising when sitting groups intent on partying rather than enjoying a dining experience. In short, it was an hours drive for us to the restaurant. We we won't be back unless we can be seated in a smaller dining room.
I had the filet and my wife had the chicken roulade. Both were amazing. The coco late cheesecake was a great wrap up.
