The only thing that was most annoying was the maitre d who seated us directly next to another couple even tho the restaurant had only a handful of customers and most were in their way out. When I asked if he could space us further away, he said that he couldn't since they had had a busy night and the other tables seated four instead of two. Wrong on both counts as anyone with two eyes could clearly see. Everything else was fine but he put a real damper on the entire dining experience. Don't think I'll try that place again.

Great place for dinner

Dined on July 22, 2015

Our server, Ricky was very personable and quite courteous. He knew the menu and made great suggestions. Substitutions were not a problem. The food arrived beautifully presented and hot. The selection of wines was adequate and not pricey. It is a great place for dinner: cozy, quiet, attentive and tasty. I would return in a minute. The crab cake appetizer is wonderful as was the scallop and prawn dish.

Unexpected Find

Dined on March 29, 2015

Terrace Cafe is attached to El Rancho Best Western Hotel near the San Francisco airport. It was a stopover for us, and we weren't sure what we'd do for dinner. We didn't have time to find our way into the city of San Francisco. We opted to eat at the hotel...and were VERY pleasantly surprised. The bar was comfortable, the bartender friendly, and he knew how to make my favorite drink! (Unusual ingredient...which he had on hand!) We elected to eat at the bar since we were enjoying ourselves there. The food...outstanding!! A small pizza, nicely done, and a French Dip sandwich. Outrageous!! Great house made fries, fresh bread...everything delicious, and fairly priced. Wish we had a place like this back home!

Unexpected Delight!

Dined on November 22, 2014

Our party of seven women were thoroughly amazed at the delicious meal we enjoyed at the El Rancho Inn, Terrace Cafe. I especially enjoyed the beet salad! The atmosphere is average, but don't let that fool you. Nice place to eat/drink while lodging right there!

GREAT DINNING EXPERIENCE

Dined on November 22, 2014

This was our first time at The Terrace Cafe - Enjoyed the Veranda Bar - so cozy. Our dinner was exceptional as was the service. Afterwards, we went to the Director's office to book a family gathering for December. He was most gracious and helpful. Looking forward to many more visits to The Terrace Cafe and Veranda Bar...This is really a neighborhood gem.

Surprising

Dined on October 15, 2014

This is the restaurant for a Best Western Plus, which is not where I'd expect to find good food. But my wife and I enjoyed our dinner there. The food might be described as foodie-updated traditional. So the vegetables are fresh and the sauces aren't the standards of (say) the 1960s. Plus the staff was very attentive and helpful, and they certainly seemed to actually enjoy working there. This isn't somewhere I'd drive out of my way to go to, but if I was in the neighborhood, I'd certainly dine here again. The only negative (of sorts) is that the wine list is quite limited (but not particularly expensive).

Poor service

vip
Dined on September 20, 2014

We chose to eat at the bar, as we do, 90 percent of the time when we eat out. We were told that it was fine and that we were welcome to have our dinner there. Big mistake at this place!! We have never had such poor service !!! The bartender, who was not overly busy did nothing to serve us. By the time our food came we did not even have utensils, let alone bread, s&p, etc. His lack of service continued throught the meal. We are locals and have been to meetings and catered events at this restaurant, and wanted to try it for dinner. I don't think we will return.

Appetizers (specifically calamari) need refining. Desserts bring food rating down from very good to good. Eat here; get dessert elsewhere. EXCELLENT service.

A good meal out

Dined on May 4, 2014

The terrace restaurant was an ideal venue for our evening meal when we stopped one night at Best Western El Ranchero Inn before a return flight to Orlando. We enjoyed our meal and the service was excellent. We live in England so not likely to be back in wonderful San Francisco any time soon!

Good food, reasonanble prices

Dined on August 10, 2013

We had a group of 5. Everyone enjoyed they meals. Two of the diners had their room at the El Rancho. After driving from southern California, they were pleased to a fabulous restaurant within a close walking distance for their room. It took the rest of us only a few minutes (about maybe 30) to make the drive down from San Francisco. Also the menu, which I know you change now and then had some great choices. Actually we all picked out different entrees. Nice quiet dining room. No complaints! Frank

Saw the good reviews and so brought a client for lunch. Food and service we're very good....felt like I was visiting a retirement home though. Several tables were being used for people playing cards or mahjong. Not a big deal, maybe just on Wednesdays, but not appropriate for a client lunch. Tables outside by pool had no umbrellas so too hot for lunch, but would have been my preference over the inside. Like I said though, good service and very nice omelet and club sandwich....no complaints there.

Making our reservation online was very easy. Our group of six got a terrific table. The ambience was cheerful but quiet and the food was good. It was not expensive and our service was very attentive but not overly so. Joining their frequent diner program will give you a discount which we got. Overall a very nice experience.

This is a passable place for what it is... a place to park your car for an early flight. The meals are better than I remember years ago, but not a place I would recommend unless a car is not available. Drinks in bar are sosso..The breakfast bar is much better than it was in the past...but not a full meal and the usual carb fest. It served us well though......would go again...

For a hotel the food was very good but the service was fantastic. The waiters were very knowledge and helped us since we had restricted diets. For travelers staying here this is a must - great food for a hotel. the mac and cheese was so tasty with a nice crispy baked top on it. The wine list is nice and extensive and the waiters are knowledge and make recommendations. Pricing is very reasonable for a hotel. For locals not a bad place to stop by.

Went on suggestion of friend. Great service from everyone at restaurant. Host, waiter, service staff. Steak with bleu cheese butter and steamed vegetables was tasty. Seafood jumbalya was on the spicy side for those who like milder dishes, but very tasty. Would recommend to anyone. Close to airport and easy parking.

My church circle uses this restaurant for a yearly lunch. We are always happy with the service and food. It is quiet enough that we can conduct our small amount of business without having to shout, they never rush us out and we sometimes chat for quite a time!

Good Food and a Room Nearby!

Dined on February 18, 2012

This restaurant is located on site with a Best Western Hotel nearly surrounding it. It is also only a 10 minute drive from the SF International Airport. While the wine list is nothing special, it does offer a full bar, comfortable surroundings and very good food. The staff is also very attentive and friendly. While I would not go out of my way to dine here, it is the perfect spot to get a very good meal with friends who have a long layover at the airport. Especially if they need overnight accommodations as the Best Western is clean and reasonably priced, and has a free shuttle to and from the airport.

What a find! Really good

Dined on January 9, 2012

What a find! Really good food at fair prices. But the best thing is the service -- old-fashioned, well trained, customer oriented -- obviously stellar management. The waitress called us "you two" instead of "you guys"! And when dinner was slightly delayed, they comped us two desserts. This is the kind of service that really makes a nice meal. Thanks!!!

Celebrate here!

Dined on January 2, 2012

What's left of a large family that loved holiday, birthday, any special occasion celebrations, gets together every year for an after Christmas gift exchange. The family matriarch wanted to try a smaller venue but nothing worked. I suggested the Terrace Cafe after seeing that it was wheel chair accessable. I had been there before but not since the extensive upgrage that was done more recently. It brought the venue into the current century. Absolutely beautiful.
