Swiss Chalet - Woodland Park Ratings and Reviews
30 years at the Chalet
We've been going to the Swiss Chalet for the 30 years we've lived in Woodland Park. Always a pleasure, always enjoyable. It draws people to our small town from miles away.

This was an excellent dinning experience. The service was phenomenal, the food equally superb and the ambiance absolutely perfect for a dinner that I could enjoy with my wife, and actually carry on a conversation. This is perhaps our new favorite place!
Great all around
From start to finish this is a great dining experience.
Put This One On Your Bucket List!
You have to eat here! The food is incredible and all the staff is extremely friendly. It is like dining with your best friends. The atmosphere is comfortable and inviting. Everyone is greeted at the door as if they were long lost friends. Whether it is a holiday, birthday, anniversary, or just a dinner with a friend or two, the experience makes it a special occasion. I'm ready to go back tonight!!!

Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We have been dining here for several years for special occasions.
Drove more than an hour for dinner and we were not disappointed. The service is the best. The menu had an excellent selection to choose from and our dinner great. It was very easy to carry on a conversation and the ambiance great for a special occasion. We will definitely return.
A wonderful dining experience for Valentines Day.
We had an amazing dining experience on our Valentine's Day date. The staff was wonderful, the food delicious, the steaks were cooked perfectly, and the portions just the right size. There is an outdoor dining area (closed for the season) that we can't wait to experience this summer.

Went here with some friends for a Valentine's Day lunch. The owner greeted and seated us, went over the menu, made great conversation and took our order. Food and service were both excellent. Decor is definitely Swiss, but nicely done. Reasonable priced. Highly recommended.
Best in town but that's not saying much.
Very good food, service is better than anyplace else in town but priced as a high end restaurant. Most wait staff is properly trained but some are not. Need to improve on that if they're going to continue to be the high priced place to go in Woodland Park. With that said, there aren't many options in town so I guess they have a monopoly.
Hoping it was just an off night?
Let me start by saying this was our third time here in the last year, and the first two visits were excellent. This visit was not however. We had 3 entrees, an appetizer, a bottle of wine, and a dessert. Only one of the entrees was worth the price we paid. I had the scallops (which I've had before and were excellent) and they were so obviously overcooked that the waitress took them back immediately without me even having to say anything. My thought was, if you saw they were overcooked while bringing them out, why did you put them in front of me? We're you hoping I wouldn't notice? They did prepare something else and take them off the bill. For $150 for the meal, we had higher expectations.

Food was great. I had the almond crusted salmon which has been on the menu for years. I live that this restaurant doesn't over salt food (usually a main complaint for me) tells me they use great ingredients. Service takes some time so plan accordingly. Overall a great meal.
Wonderful hide away in Woodland park. Great food consistently and the service is top notch. WE have been coming for years and the food quality has always been high and the flavors are worth going back. The Shrimp appetizer has a sauce that is so good it should be bottled and the veal so nice and tender it is like being in Europe. Keep up the great work Swiss Chalet!!
Food was good. Service was little slow at times but overall good. Ambiance was good for a special occasion. My cocktail was scotch and there was a very skimpy shot poured for the price charged. Bartender needs to loosen up a bit for the price charged. Wine was very good and the pour was ample. Overall we enjoyed the evening and will go back for special occasions.
Great Place to Celebrate
Although the Swiss Chalet was full, a table was waiting for us when we arrived at our reservation time. Service was excellent. Our meals (both prime rib) were served exactly as ordered and were delicious! A great start to our 54th anniversary evening! One thing, however. We have lived in Woodland Park for 26 years. How do they get their twice-baked potatoes to stay hot through the entire meal?

It was Christmas eve, so I understand some people want to go home early, Service was not great that night
Our evening felt really special. My husband and I came here to celebrate Christmas eve together and everything from the food to the wine to the atmosphere was really great. We will be back.

I've been several times on prime rib night and it's been much better than this time. This time the food was not up to its normal level. The salad was gritty, as it it needed to be washed, the medium rare on the prime rib was more of a medium and the green beans were barely cooked, making them difficult to cut and eat. Service was off, as well with little attention until several other guests left and the restaurant was more empty. I'm sure it was just an off night and maybe more busy than usual with Christmas parties, etc. I am not going to give up on it quite yet, as the ambiance and normally the food are usually excellent.
Perfect Romantic Dinner
We chose this restaurant for a date night romantic dinner as a prelude to a few weeks of surgery recovery. It was a quiet dinner, not at all rushed, and it included great food and wine. We especially enjoyed the log cabin ambiance out in the mountains. There were no children to destroy the mood, definitely a plus for us on this particular night.

The atmosphere was beautiful and everyone treated us like royalty attending to our every wish. This was our first time here and we will certainly return.
The only thing I didn't like was the minute we walked in the door (5 minutes late) the man who greeted us made us feel uncomfortable because we were late. All six of us felt rushed during the entire time we were there. The waitresses were not rude at all but they weren't very friendly either. They were very efficient but it was obvious they were in a hurry. It's not usually that way. Then when our bills came, all three of them were wrong.

We had Thanksgiving Dinner here with a party of 11! The food was the best traditional Thanksgiving meal I've ever had and the service was really impeccable. We'd go back every year. It was truly special.
Great food and great service.
Had they're Tuesday night prime rib special and it was great.
Delightful mid-week birthday dinner.
Very quiet on Wednesday night. Enjoyed the relaxed measured service. Menu is relatively small (our preference) with enough variety for all. Food was delicious, including the cheese fondue, veal, tournedos, and creme brûlée. Negative: one of two creme brûlée was over cooked. When noted, it was appropriately addressed. Also, good wine selection, but at least for one wine we were familiar with, the mark-up seemed excessive. Overall, wonderful evening. We will return. Definitely a special place.
We always enjoy coming here for that special occasion Made my wife's birthday even more enjoyable
Swiss Chalet - Perfect for a Special Night Out
We enjoyed a wonderful meal. Lots of menu choices. Many dishes prepared with European flair. Cozy atmosphere, very quiet. Very good service. We will go again!

We always enjoy the Swiss Chalet. Last Saturday, my sister, brother, mother and I went there to celebrate my mother's birthday. Everything about our evening there--the service, the wine, the food, the atmosphere--was wonderful. What I particularly enjoy about the Swiss Chalet is that we are never hurried, but are allowed and encouraged to take our time with every course. Thanks to everyone at that fabulous restaurant for helping make the 56th anniversary of my mother's 29th birthday very special.
Best in Woodland Park
We recently moved to Woodland Park and everyone had told us this is the best restaurant in town. We were not disappointed. The food was delicious. I had the pepper steak, which we were told was the house specialty and my wife had Sea Scallops with Linguini, which she finished for breakfast the next morning. Unlike most restaurants, there is no bar, so don't plan on a drink before being seated. Overall a very nice evening.
Quite fine dining
I've been to the Swiss Chalet many times over the years and I am always pleased. I was a little disappointed in the creme brulee this time, the sugar was still crystallized making it not so appealing. But other than that the dinner was perfect. The sea bass was wonderful!
Top 5% of outstanding classy restaurants.
We have visited the Swiss Chalet for many years and on many occasions. Their menu provides many choices and on this occasion we had the filet mignon and salmon. The preparation and flavor of each was the best. The owner, Neil, was present and he spoke with us and followed up to insure that everything was to our liking. Great staff. Great place to take family and friends.
Great Food and Service
Swiss Chalet is a relaxing place to enjoy lunch or dinner with friends and family. We have never been disappointed. The service is thoughtful and attentive.
A high country gem!
Great food in a wonderful, comfortable setting. Outstanding, friendly service with a view of Pikes Peak.
Good start and a bad ending
After being seated immediately the strangeness factor was that there were no menus on the table. They brought the wine list right away and demanded that we select something before even seeing a menu, which was on a blackboard that was brought to the table. Not impressed. Our meal commenced with a cheese fondue which was passable, we chose to go by the glass as my wife and I chose different dishes for our main courses. Salad was included and was served without any dressing; despite waitress arguing that it was tossed in. No giveaway hints of blue cheese anywhere, but additional dressing was delivered in short order. Same for my wife's salad. My main course was a pepper steak; the cook on the steak was a proper medium rare, but instead of a peppercorn sauce it was covered with an unrecognizable congealed yellow gelatinous substance that had the consistency of marmalade. My glass of red wine was grossly over temperature, and had to spend about 10 minutes in the freezer before it was drinkable. My wife's scallops were passable, however the fettuccini that accompanied it was congealed with cheese and the sauce had separated into a heavy congealed heap. Bottom line; off to a good start with the fondue and white wine, but should have stopped there. Was not worth the $120 bill.

Excellent as usual. Great place to eat and talk!
I brought my wife to the Swiss Chalet for her birthday. Although the service was excellent I must say that the boneless rib eye was overloaded with gristle. For the price of the meal I expected better food preparation.
One of our local favorites!
We love the Swiss Chalet! Lovely ambiance and wonderful menu, which changes all the time. A real gem!
Our guests ordered the same steak my wife did and asked for it cut in half. It was cut thin wise instead of retaining its thickness. My wife's was terrific theirs was awful. Service is always outstanding.
Great food, service and ambience.
We were looking for a good dining experience after eating way too much Mexican and bar food on our vacation. This place was exactly what we were looking for. I had the filet mignon and my wife had the veal. Both were excellent. I also like to watch what other patrons order and how they react. There were not a lot of people there (late Sunday evening, but everyone seemed to enjoy their food and all the dishes looked appetizing. We would definitely return again when in the area. Oh yes, the service was excellent and attentive without being intrusive.
My rosemary salmon was badly overcooked, my wife's jaeger schnitzel was as well and the sauce was bland, the "soup of the day" was tomato bisque which was clearly out of a can, and the creme brulee had a crust that was so thick it needed a knife to penetrate it. However, the most disturbing part of the meal was when a young mixed race couple came in to dine and were turned away with the explanation--within our hearing--that a reservation was required. There were at least nine empty tables and multiple walk-in parties had been seated while we were there. We will NOT be going back.
While the prices are a little high, it is worth every penny! Absolutely delicious sea bass with capers, and tournedos for my companion. A little extra with a very subdued singer/guitarist that did not hinder conversation. Have gone to this restaurant many times over the past 30 years or so, and this was the best ever. Great service.
Great place for a nice dinner!! Fabulous service!!
