Sunday Brunch at Taj Boston Ratings and Reviews
Always simply top notch
As usual our first of the season roof top brunch was outstanding. The only(and very slight) letdown was a rather, in our opinion not too experienced server. Dishes were cleared regularly, but we had to ask for more OJ, or ask to refill the water glasses. Still not really a big deal Food was tops as always. Quite a few new items. The Cod served in the Chafer was outstanding. Food in chafers can get overcooked easily but they keep everything well stocked. Beautiful day resulted in great views around the city. We'll be back in the summer for round 2. We usually go 3 times a year..Spring/summer/fall

Easter brunch at the Taj was a wonderful way to celebrate the holiday. The staff was considerate and helpful, although the bar was confused about drink orders. The view was stunning and food superb. The overall ambiance in the interior seems a tad "rustic" for the price, though..
Brunch was lovely. $100. pp was tough to swallow, however all restaurants are pricey on Easter so we just accepted it and moved on. The food was delicious and you cannot top the view. We came to Boston to spend Easter with my daughter who is a college student. Would do it again for sure just but only on a special occasion.
As usual, it's the best
The Taj simply has the best overall brunch in town. This one was the "last" of the season on the roof deck. The weather was a bit cloudy but still a great view of the city. They did have a few new items, such as the Hearts of Palm & Avocado salad. Really scrumptious. A nice chicken mousse with madeira wine was on display as well. The hot fish this time consisted of small filets of Sword fish along with a Shrimp Risotto. Really a great day to start the shopping along Newbury St.

The whipped cream for the waffles was divine, just perfect with the tiny maple syrup jars they give you. The arrangement of the buffet was nicely displayed with everything labeled appropriately, the waiter was very polite and helpful, and the view was just beautiful, the perfect way to have brunch on a Sunday!
The food is perfectly prepared and artistically presented. The views are simply one of a kind in Boston. This is a special place to go with a special someone for a special occasion.
This restaurant was very fancy, had impeccable service, a phenomenal view of the city, and the buffet selection was out of this world!!!
Skip this $193 brunch for 2
Skip the over priced brunch here. Sure, the view is nice but don't expect a dress code to assure a lovely ambiance. For $84 with only a single mimosa, you can do much better elsewhere. Tank tops, ripped jeans and tshirts abound, with others dressed to the 9s trying to have a memory. This is one brunch that is NOT memorable, except for the $193.00 bill for 2, which includes a mandatory exorbitant gratuity.
We went to the Taj to celebrate an important family milestone. Service was exceptional. The food choices were fantastic.. the view of the Public Garden may be the best in Boston.

I had made reservations at the Taj Boston for Sunday brunch on 5/11/16 to celebrate a special occasion with my family. From the moment we arrived the Taj staff provided first class service. The buffet seemed endless and all food offerings were delicious. It will take sever visits to sample all the entrees ands sweet treats but we all agreed we look forward to our next visit. While dining we enjoyed the views from the rooftop overlooking Boston Common. The entire Taj experience made a great day - Perfect.
Sunday Brunch Service
I went to Sunday brunch at the Taj with three friends. Fantastic experience!
Simply the best brunch in town!!
Simply the best brunch in town!!
Very Disappointed by Christmas Brunch
Very expensive, which I was prepared for given a great experience, however, this was disappointing. Bloody Mary, prepared behind a makeshift bar by our server, was atrocious. Cocktail sauce for seafood was bitter and inedible. Oysters were tasteless and not separated from the shell. Dressings were not good. Crab claws were succulent, Indian food delicious. Kids loved the waffles and desserts. Entrees were ok, not great. Horseradish sauce for ribeye was marginal. Just overall disappointed given the cost. For $350 for brunch, not worth it. Bummer. Christmas comes but once a year.
I went here on a brunch double-date on an early weekend in October, second seating (1PM). Completely lucked out on the weather -- it was a beautiful day, which certainly was a plus. Beautiful panoramic views of Boston, quite a brunch spread, wonderful service. Only thing of note: champagne is one glass, not bottomless. (This was a misunderstanding from when I read the website, but no big deal.) Overall, lovely.
brunch with a view
Beautiful food and beautiful view, what could be better?! The service! The service was unsurpassed, attentive, polite, quick. It was my older son's birthday and they made a nice birthday cupcake.
Good food but not what I expected.
This was a very impressive brunch buffet but I have to say I was a little disappointed in the service. It was not bad service but it wasn't great either. I was also disappointed to see that they had absolutely no dress code. Maybe I'm old school but when you are paying that kind of money for brunch you don't expect to see people walking around in gym shorts.
The view was amazing... From the time you arrive to your departure the staff is attentive and courteous to your individual needs. There is vast variety of foods for everyone one to enjoy. Brunch was a great start to our Sunday ventures of Boston.
This is a must do while in Boston. The food is delicious - there is a large selection of seafood and sashimi. The desserts are the best! Ask for park view.
The view is blocked by the roof line but the service and food is great
It was for Father's Day since the dad in the group likes buffet brunches. The food was decent, the space itself was old looking and thrown together. The service was spotty. We were offered a Mimosa for an extra cost and coffee, but not juice. We had to call the server over when we needed something although the plates were cleared fairly quickly. When we arrived at 1PM it was empty, but did fill up. The food was good, but I don't appreciate a gratuity of 15.5% being added to my bill. There were only 4 of us. I thought a gratuity was added when it was a larger party. I always leave a tip, even at a buffet but I don't appreciate being told what to tip, especially for the spotty service we received.
We found the selection to be fantastic-brunch covered breakfast, lunch and dinner options. Everything was presented beautufuly and the food was exceptionaly good! A great value for the proce!
fathers day brunch
Taj sunday brunch is a must try!! everything was well presented. food was great. service was excellent. Price was steep but worth it for a special occasion
Great food & great atmosphere!
Nice for our anniversary celebration! Lot's of food to choose from.
Room Better than Food
Dined here June 8, 2014. Ambience and view are wonderful, food is less so. Sushi and shrimp cocktail are pretty much stock offerings in any upscale brunch, but given that the price of the Taj's brunch is at the higher end of the spectrum, I was expecting far better quality. Neither the shrimp nor tuna sashimi tasted fresh. (Turner Fisheries, RIP, served the best shrimp cocktail in my opinion, and almost any pan-Asian restaurant serves better sushi than what I had at the Taj.) Prime rib was also surprisingly flavorless. As for hot entrees, you better like Indian food (which I do) because there are more Indian than continental selections. However, I was disappointed there was only one Indian meat entree. Expected better all in all.
good for one time special occasion
Pricey. Noisy. Roof overhang blocked panoramic view of Public Garden. Fan blowing on us uncomfortable. Delicious food. Need better music...no words. Prefer classical. Service attentive.
Brunch with a Graduate
We wanted something special after our daughter's graduation ceremony the day before. She'll be leaving Boston to go to the west coast. What better send off that the panoramic view at the top of the Taj Hotel on Newbury?! The food and service were impeccable and the glass of champagne only made it more special.
Always the best
As usual, the brunch on the rooftop at Taj is outstanding. The views, the food, everything. They start you off with coffee tea or juice. You can add Champagne(for an extra fee, if you wish)The buffet always has the freshest of everything & is always quickly refreshed, something that you don't always see at other buffets. The broiled Seabass & Morel mushrooms is about the best I've had anywhere. The price is a bit steep at about $70 PP. But you have to pay a bit to get quality like this. A 15% gratuity is automatically added to your bill. This takes the hassle out of tipping. We plan to go back again when the weather allows for the Awning to be rolled back. It was too windy & cool to do that this past weekend.
Good view and buffet
The buffet selection was good - not your typical "continental" breakfast bar, but also fancy salads, cheeses, oysters, sushi, etc. Although it was a buffet, the servers are also happy to help and are very nice and attentive. And of course you can't beat the views from the roof top of Taj restaurant right next to the Boston Common.
Taj always tops the list
We did the Sunday brunch at the top of the hotel. It's the last of the year(weather closes it down when it gets cold)All I can say was a great selection of hot & cold choices.. Crab claws, smoked Salmon,Sushi choices.Eggs Benedict,Cold Cuts,Carving stations,Fresh Omlets,Waffles, Indian selections as well. Just an overall great buffet with great views. Prices are a bit high..$65/PP. If you are a big eater you'll get your money's worth (I know we did!!)Now they'll start serving it downstairs across from where the High Tea is held.
For the Taj, I was extremely disappointed at the service, food, and overall ambiance. They put us in a corner with no views, whether the whole point of brunching up there was the view, we didnt want to complain so said nothing, we had to wait for about 10 min before someone came up to take our drink order and also the food was not very good. For $60 per person, I thought this was going to be the best brunch in town but I felt that it didn't live up to it.
Sounds great in theory but for the price, it was lacking. Food is good , not outstanding although the desserts were excellent. Only a handful of tables actually overlooking the Public Garden and on the day I went, windows were not open. Waiters were old school and wonderful. But bottom line, not worth the steep price.
PERFECT Sunday Brunch!
PERFECT! I haven't enjoyed brunch like this in a very long time!
Nice brunch overlooking Boston comm
Awesome brunch! Good variety of choices. Nice desert selection. Hope to see more hot food selection! Highly recommend when it opens again in April!
I was expecting more variety
I was expecting more variety of food for the price but what they have was actually fresh and delicious.
This was amazing. Certainly
This was amazing. Certainly a place for any special occasion or celebration. Or just to treat yourselves. And a treat it will be!
The food and its presentation
The food and its presentation was outstanding at our Sunday Brunch. The wait service was good, but not outstanding. The room was an enclosed upper floor balcony of the hotel.....just a little drafty.
Beautiful and delicious
The Taj champagne brunch is a fabulous culinary experience. The service wonderful and the ambiance was lovely. I highly recommend the experience.
Great food and selection and
Great food and selection and nice for if you want to take visitors for a special occasional brunch just given the swankiness of the rest of the hotel and location. The decor of the room where the brunch is held could be a lot better when I was there it was very stark it was like an empty concrete room with tables put in it.
Lunch at the Taj might be
Lunch at the Taj might be costly but they really deliver value for your dollar. Excellent selection, high quality, and delicious. Perfect for a special occasion.
This was a belated Father's
This was a belated Father's Day Gift. We really enjoyed it! Taj offers a huge, wonderful assortment of foods, and the wait staff was exceptional.
