Solid, mid tier, steakhouse experience

Dined 4 days ago

I have dined at Sullivan's (Seattle and elsewhere) and they, again, delivered a solid experience for a mid tier steak house. There were 6 of us, for a business dinner, but we all work together. Had we been entertaining a customer, or potential customer, I would have had a couple of complaints. To wit, although our reservation was early, 5:30p, and the dining room was largely empty, they weren't able to seat us until 5:40p. We were all there at 5:20p. Evidently they had a staffing problem. That became further evident as one of our severs was quite obviously a trainee, who struggled a bit with the processes and basic understanding of requests. On this particular evening there was no sommelier. The manager spoke to us, and her advice was fine, if hesitant, but there should be someone solidly familiar with the wine list on prem at all times. I suspect this was just "one of those nights" that happen in the trade. It didn't put me off, and I will go back.

Odd vibe

Dined 5 days ago

My food was a little overcooked but oh well. Ribeye wasn't of better quality than you would get at a less expensive steakhouse. And the oddest vibe. Loud pop music from multiple eras with dimly lit dining areas. Didn't seem to match to me.

Seattle restaurant week

Was at Sullivan's on the last day of the Seattle restaurant week and chose the set dinner which was great value for the money. Nice waiter, good service, good food, reasonable price - works for me!

Delicous filet! Best steak I've ever had!

Dined on April 22, 2016

I stopped in last week during a business trip to Seattle, and luckily it was Restaurant Week! Though my reservation was for the dining room, I switched it to a table in the bar so I could listen to the Jazz quintet playing. To start I sampled the crab/lobster bisque -- pretty good. And for the main course I had the filet Mignon, cooked medium with a side of peppercorn sauce (not necessary for future - but I went with the recommendation of my server). Finally, for dessert I tried the bananas foster -- delightful. I'd rank Sullivan's as number 1 or 2 in Steakhouses - looking forward to future visits.

Great food and service

Dined on April 22, 2016

Two couples went the last day of Seattle Restaurant week. Looked like it coincided with a convention in town, as the restaurant was very crowded. But even with the crowd, we received attentive service and excellent food. Only downside was the noise level. Hostess honored our request to be seated as far a possible from the very loud bar, but even then the noise level was objectionable.

Good, but a bit too busy

vip
Dined on April 20, 2016

I went to Sullivan's during Restaurant Week, where all participating restaurants have a 3 courses for $30 menu. It was very busy and noisy when I was there, and I had a lot of trouble hearing what the waiter was saying. Also, the menu seemed designed to upsell you from the $30 price through adding sauces, sides, and other things. The food was very good quality, but the portions were a little small. Maybe these small problems are to be expected when you try to get 3 portions for $30 at a steak place.

Good value for Restaurant Week. Ambiance was very loud, hard to hear my wife. Service was fine, but a little disorganized. Not "fine" dining.

Food needs work

Dined on April 15, 2016

Food was not as great as I remembered it. Filet mignon was overly salty and dry. The outside was burnt and crunchy. Iceberg salad wedge was brown and had too much dressing. Banana's foster had chunks of bananas that had a weird texture (maybe unripe)?

Great find!

Dined on April 13, 2016

We don't normally chose downtown for family dining and gathering. we happened to chose Sullivan from the Seattle restaurant week list and was extremely pleased with the food and service we received. The server staff was attentive and accommodating, we were seating at a quieter corner with our family, and the overall experience was pleasantly surprised. i would highly recommend for future dining, clearly they have a very vibrant bar scene, but i was really glad we checked it out. we will be back!

An excellent option for good steak and more

Dined on April 10, 2016

Stopped here while in the area for a business trip and was delighted by the service and food as well. My only complaint is that the steak is a little heavy on the pepper but I'll remember for next time. The meat is cooked to perfection and the sides are excellent, though you'll want to share. Each is enough for two at least. Yes, this is a chain, but it's a good one. I prefer this place of others that are much pricier (Ruth's Chris).

Delicious Food!

Dined on April 1, 2016

Sullivan's is a great local place to enjoy delicious food and fantastic drinks. With their amazing prix fixe menu options, "The Sure Thing" is a perfect way to enjoy a variety of great food options at an affordable cost (comparatively). Only $44 for a large, specialty 3 course meal at a steakhouse in downtown Seattle? Yes! At Sullivan's, you can accomplish this!

Great location for theatre

Dined on March 24, 2016

I pick Sullivan's because the service is top notch!!! I have never been let down and the staff is great about checking on your satisfaction. If you are going to go to the 5th Avenue Theatre, The ACT or The Paramount, this restaurant is conveniently located. And if for some reason your eyes are bigger than your appetite, they will hold your food for pick up after the show. So then you can stop back in for a night cap and then grab your food and go home.

Sullivan's is nice

Dined on March 13, 2016

Service was outstanding. Drink prices same as other nice dining restaurants downtown. Wine by the glass has risen. Disappointed in the quality of two of our Filet Steak Dinners. They contained bits of gristle in both plates making portions inedible.

Another great dinner and experience at Sullivans. Although this is considered mostly to be a steakhouse the fish here is amazing. My wife had the Sea Bass and she raved about it. I had the filet with the fixed menu and it was excellent. If you are a member of Passport you get an even greater deal

Delicious perfectly cooked steak

Dined on February 28, 2016

The dry aged New York was perfect, and the side dishes were also great. I particularly liked the french onion soup and the roasted Brussels sprouts. The wine list looked impressive, and even sticking with a basic Cabernet was a great selection. The service was attentive and very friendly. The dining room was neat and orderly with music of a volume that was just right. I highly recommend this for any occasion that calls for great food, but especially when you want a classy atmosphere and great service.

Sophistication at its finest

Dined on February 28, 2016

I took my boyfriend here for his birthday and I made a reservation prior to our date asking if they could do something special for his day. They were so sweet giving us a free dessert while decorating it so elegantly with a chocolate "Happy birthday" on the creme brulee plate. They even took a picture of us and framed it so he could take it home. I had the filet mignon, which was nice and tender. It was accompanied by the bourdelaise sauce--highly recommend. My boyfriend had the aged New York strip, which was similar to mine, but had more of a subtle smokey flavor which was delightful. He had it with the bourbon peppercorn, which paired perfectly to the smokey, tender steak. We shared a side dish of the mac and cheese. It was the BEST mac and cheese I've ever had. It's so wonderfully creamy, not overwhelming, and has the perfect balance of flavor. Very creamy and a good side dish. For dessert, we had the creme brulee which was so creamy and rich. It was a great creme brulee with Tahitian vanilla bean in which I really appreciated to really elevate the flavor. It had a full-bodied flavor that paired perfectly with the fresh berries on top. Our server was great, knew the menu extremely well, and recommended amazing choices that I don't regret. This was a fantastic and elegant experience that I highly suggest!

Special Valentine's day menu at a great price. We had a great time at the bar watching them skillfully handling a very busy scene. Moved to our table upstairs where we had never been before. Very quiet with a view of the city down below. I had a great ribeye and my wife had the spectacular rack of lamb. Great drinks, great service, friendly staff.
