Everything about the meal and service was outstanding!!! The management needs to strongly consider adding the braised short ribs to the every day menu. The filet and crawfish risotto were amazing as usual. Danny and the other waitresses are probably the best servers we've had ever wait on us. Great experience...again!

Review

Dined on April 21, 2016

Food was great. Service REALLY ordinary, we sat at the table for at least 15 minutes before anyone appeared. Waited another 15 minutes for drinks (3 people only in bar at that time so they were not overwhelmed with people). At end it took another 15 minutes to return receipt for signing ( paid with a credit card). We loved the decor, the view of the steet outside after a rain so being ignored was not too bad I guess!!

Even though nigh overwhelmed by the overflow pre-James -Taylor-crowd, the truly rose to the occasion, They were practically barring the doors to keep the crown down, but lived up to our usual high expectations in spite of the mayhem. Best bleu cheese wedge in town with their wonderful onion jam. Personally, my red fish was wonderful, other 3 thoroughly enjoyed their dinners, too. One of our true downd\town standards!

Food and atmosphere was fantastic, as I was celebrating a Bday! Service was a little lacking, our server wasn't as attentive to us as she was a larger party! But overall good experience!

Excellent Experience

Dined on April 16, 2016

Baton Rouge has a jewel here. The vibe and location was perfect. We were in the mist of the live after five crowd and it was exciting. I suggest the pork steak it was grilled to perfection. We need more restaurants like this downtown.

Great for Date Night

Dined on April 1, 2016

The restaurant was beautiful. We had to go around the block a couple of times to find parking but we ended up parking across the street by the library. It's a load zone during the day but empty at night. The food was excellent. Each course was better than expected. My husband had a rib eye steak and I had the night's special which was scallops over green beans. They were both phenomenal. The crab and cheese soup was amazing. The staff was excellent! Great find!

Service was good and the food was nice. I was pricey but we expected that going in. While the food was good, I don't feel like it was quite worth what we spent.

Delicious

Dined on March 19, 2016

This was a perfect spot for our date night. The restaurant is quiet, service exceptional, and food delicious. The food is pricey but worth it. We will definitely return. I recommend every dish we had.. lump crabmeat ricotta gnocchi to start, duck Louisiane, pork porterhouse! I also thought my drinks were very good. I started with the agave margarita then had the pomegranate sangria. I can't wait until we can return!

Upscale steak house with good seafood as well. Pleasing decor and quiet enough to enjoy conversation (increasingly rare these days). Mushroom risotto may be the best item on the menu!

Worth another visit

Dined on March 6, 2016

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary at Stroube's based on several recommendations. The food at Stroube's was very good but I think could have been better. The blue crab gnocchi was very tasty. The wine suggested by our waitress was spot on and went well with the steaks my wife and I ordered as our entrees. My wife's filet was cooked perfectly and the risotto was good as well. My New York Strip was a bit chewy, although it tasted very good. I will give this place another chance. Overall my experience was a good one, but I was a bit disappointed by my steak. The service was outstanding although I felt we were a bit rushed near the end of our meal.

outstanding experience

Dined on February 22, 2016

Our waiter began the evening with answering questions about the menu and commending our choices. And he was right. The crab gnocchi was incredible. My wife chose the special which was redfish and I chose the duck. Both exceeded expectations in taste. We had the pleasure of speaking to the manager and he was kind enough to treat us to their white chocolate bread pudding. Hot sticky and sweet ; this was the perfect ending to a great evening mealtime experience. We've dined at numereous well known eateries in Baton Rouge and New Orleans but would be hard pressed to compare them to Stroubes. You won't be disappointed and yes we will be back. Can't wait til they open up on Juban Rd in Denham Springs..which will be closer to the house.

An Awesome Place and Most Memorable

Dined on February 14, 2016

We had to be in Baton Rouge to drop off one of my paintings at an upcoming exhibit at LSU. We were going to be in town over the 14th,so I decided to look for a really good place to eat. We checked Open Table- and found this place. I have eaten at a lot of places, including Claridge's in London-(and similar fine restaurants in that rarefied club-) and I have never had a better meal anywhere in the world than what I was served in Stroube's. We both had the duck breast. My husband had the Caesar salad, I had the wedge salad, they were crispy and fresh, with wonderful dressings that did not overwhelm them. The side dishes were delicate cheese grits and a sauteed spinach, a very fine plate of excellent bread with a wonderfully tasty topping, all washed down with a great Bordeaux- finishing with a rich and zesty bread pudding, with a praline sauce that was divine. I am a foodie; food is extremely serious business to me. This awesome meal, including the wine, was $150.00. As a rule, just the wine will be $150.00. I was impressed- this is not a big place, but a very classy place. It has a darkly romantic ambiance with minimalist decor, some good local art, and an excellent wait staff that really knew their business. Hats off to the Chef! That duck was tender and juicy, most excellent- everything was perfect. I will go there again the next time I visit Baton Rouge. It made our Valentine's Day.

Top Notch

Dined on February 13, 2016

Excellent food. The steaks are on par, if not better, than any I've ever had - including those from chop houses in Omaha. The salmon, ribs, chops and scallops are also all outstanding. Presentation for every dish is well though out, and prepared exactly as requested. Unlike most, I prefer my steak well done, and always receive my order cooked to perfection. Dishes are reasonably priced though some portions can be a bit small. Definitely try the bread pudding with praline sauce - it's superb. The setting is also nice, and I was surprised at how quiet the restaurant was. During my last visit, an outdoor concert was being held about a block away and the noise was minimal. The staff is very polite and attentive, and ready to answer any questions you may pose. Overall, this was a fantastic dining experience and highly recommended.

Food over priced. I took my husband there for his bday, The atmosphere was romantic. The restaurant was not packed. We saw our waiter twice the entire 2 hours we were there. Once when he took our order and when he bought the bill, never filled our water glass or asked if we needed anything. Will not go back!

Wouldn't visit again, if it was free!

Dined on January 29, 2016

I would not attend this restaurant again due to the food quality and extremely small portion size. The staff is very nice and alert to the needs of the customers. Overall, the location and scenery is perfect but the bar area can be noisy. I ordered the shrimp and tasso pasta( salty) and my fiancee order the New York Strip 8 oz.( was cooked well done, instead of medium well done). The entree's are limited, but the wine selections are awesome.

Greeted with welcoming smiles and treated to excellent service from everyone. The corn, crab & brie bisque and bread pudding with praline sauce was some of the best I've ever had. This was our first visit to Stroubes but we'll be back soon for a steak!

I loved the food. I started with the beat and goat cheese salad it was refreshing. My salmon was out of this world. It so happened we were there during happy hour and martinis are $5 I couldn't pass it up. The pot of creme for dessert was amazing and decadent. Our server was not very good at sticking around. We had to waive hostess to get more water. Our food and drinks made it worth every penny!

Perfect and delicious pre-theater light meal. Split one of their wonderful Bleu cheese wedges (with the yummy caramelized onions) one lump crabmeat gnocchi, and one of their takes on poutine with pulled pork, Result: two very happy campers! Have always counted Stroube's among our favorites.

I've visited Stroube's 5 times and have been very pleased each time. The place is gorgeous and the food and service are top notch. They have the best overall menu to me. The steaks are very good and the seafood is even better with a real Cajun/Southern flair.
