Strip House Ratings and Reviews
Best steak in the city, bar none
My wife and I have been coming to the Striphouse for years. Friends and others comment "why not try something different" or "try another steakhouse". We have, and no other steak compares for our celebrating the special events in our life. I love the rib eyes, either the dry aged or 20 oz. and my wife can't get enough of the bone-in filet mignon. Bartenders are great, making our martinis perfect every time. The seafood tower for an appetizer is fantastic, enough so my wife, who formally could not understand why I enjoyed the various shellfishes so much now requests it as it complements her martinis so well. The side dishes are also very enjoyable, from the mushrooms, creamed spinach (never pedestrian), selection of potatoes, and various seasonal offerings. Only thing I could be disappointed on, and has nothing to do with their exceptional staff, was wines we have enjoyed in the past are no longer available, and therefore we always ask for their recommendations, which they base on our preferences. Unfortunately for me, but to the enjoyment of my wife, the selection did not stand up to the steak as well as I would have enjoyed. And to end the evening we enjoyed the chocolate layer cake. Fantastic. Why continually search for new restaurants when part of the reason we search is to find perfection? We have found it and that is why return again and again to the Striphouse.

Awesome as usual! Never a bad meal here. We felt a little rushed - but nothing a ' we are not done yet' had problems fixing.
Quality food and Service
We ate here on a visit to New York from The UK. The prices were typical for New York (expensive by UK standards especially wine, but it's the same across New York). The New York strip steaks were fantastic and cooked to perfection (one rare, one medium), perfectly seasoned as well. Our sides of Mac 'n' cheese, strip house potatoes and French beans were fantastic. The red wine beautiful at $90. The whole meal, including tax and service was just under $300 for two of us. The standard of food and service was impeccable - not the most intimate setting as always in New York, if you're a couple be prepared to be sat close to other couples and hear every word they say. A great experience to see an authentic New York steak house at its best on a Saturday night - thoroughly recommended for a treat night!
Outstanding Service - Thank you!
Hi - the service was excellent - they did everything possible to make the night wonderful. The steaks themselves were cooked perfectly, and the quality of the meat is outstanding. The only drawback is the cost - everything is a la carte - which makes for a very expensive evening.
I've been to Strip House a number of times and have generally had good meals there. When we were there last week, the server recommended the aged rib eye for 3 for $180. It was a bit of a splurge but myself and 2 friends went for it. Though cooked as we requested (medium rare), it was tasteless and chewy. I mentioned to the server at the end that the steak wasn't up to their usual Strip House standards. She said she was sorry but not much else. The manager didn't stop by to check in, they didn't offer to take something off the price of the steak, or even a free dessert. I didn't ask for any of the above but I would have expected something better (in terms of steak quality and service) from such a well known restaurant, who presuambly cares about customers. I will be likely taking my business elsewhere next time I want a good steak.

The Strip House delivers hedonism to the senses
From the décor, to the music to the outstanding food I was truly not disappointed. Albeit a bit pricey for anyone not accustomed to NYC prices, the servings were ample and the side dishes could be shared by two. The decadent chocolate cake and coffee finished off a wonderful meal as the impeccable service did for our meal. It is an experience one should not miss... Be prepared to be seduced!!!

We were hoping for a great steakhouse but the food was mediocre. The creamed spinach was probably the best thing we ate. The other side dishes were just ok. Wolfgang's is much better!

Didn't think the steak was up to NYC standards. Good but not great
I was excited check out Strip House on our trip to New York. It had good reviews but unfortunately it didn't live up to expectation. We visited on Sunday night and the restaurant was not very busy. There was no background music playing and so very little ambiance. The waiter was attentive and friendly. We opted for the porterhouse between two ($60pp) with sides of mac and cheese, grilled mushrooms and asparagus. We asked for the steak medium, but it came out medium rare, and quite charred on the outside. The sides were overseasoned with salt for my taste. The wine list is expensive, and we could not justify spending that much on a bottle of wine! Although that seems par for the course in New York. We opted for a glass of Malbec ($14) and a bottle of beer.
An excellent evening
All the menu items that our party of nine shared were excellent and the service was very professional. I was impressed and I have to say that this is one of the best steakhouses in the city.
we will return!
We were a party of of 6. The waiter was attentive. However, he started to take our first drink order and then stopped in the middle to do something and we waited about ten minutes for him to come back. Drinks were good. Food was very good. The filet mignon was excellent, each done to the temperature requested. For side dishes we had the Strip house potatoes, asparagus, mushrooms, french fries and brussel sprouts. All very good. My least favorite was the bacon appetizer. It was a bit fatty and chewy. I will pass on that the next time. We did not have dessert because we were too full. We will return in the future for another great steak!
We love coming here for special occasions! There is always great service. We usually go on a Friday or Saturday night, but went on a Sunday this last time - super quiet and chill.

The best service I've experienced at every level, superb food and the most elegant ambiance. We celebrated our 12th Wedding Anniversary with dinner reservations and couldn't be happier. Compliments to the chef and a big thank you to staff, specially our waiter.
Great steaks and chocolate cake
Went for my son's birthday with 4 friends. Steaks were excellent, as was the gigantic chocolate cake. Sitting by the kitchen, it was a bit "active" in our vicinity. Try to get a booth. The only complaint was that the waiter was really rushing us and came off as snooty until I made a comment to him. Then service seemed to improve. Similar comment from friends who had been there a week before. The brussel sprouts were also excellent.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. Food is always good and really like the ambiance of the place. Recommend the creamed spinach, bacon and chocolate cake.
Nice ambience, okay food
I felt that for the $$ and reputation is was just okay. Service was great though.
Great steaks, great restaurant
The steaks were perfectly cooked as one would expect from a place like this, but the hero of the night was the Black truffle creamed spinach. That was so delicious. Great place, great food and wine and great service.

Everything was just ok. After $450 for dinner for two without wine I was quite let down. Appetizer portions were small but tasty. Steaks were well cooked but crusted in way too much salt. Creamed spinach was phenomenal. Service was inattentive and borderline rude. Too many good steak houses in this city to warrant another visit.
Not what I am used to
I am a regular fan of Strip house for the past 5 years - i have to say the Filet was not mind blowing as it always is- Some of the waiters seemed like they were running a frat party- I could overhear one offering special discounts to a bro fest for a strip CLUB after- Just didnt seem like a very high end experience that I am accustomed to at Strip House.

Ambiance, Cocktails, and Beef
Maybe you arrived because you read a review about the bordello decor. No disappointment, it's charming and borders on bad taste — in a winky way. But you'll plan to come back for the cocktails and the knowledgeable waitstaff's attention to your order: they know from their beef, for instance. Big on the truffle thing, the fare is not subtle but is tasty, kinda like the décor! One more thing to like: the staff is very attentive!

Don't order Caesar salad ... Unless you like heavy anchovy flavor but everything else we had was amazing!
went there on a date and overall liked it very much, but just was not happy with our bone in strip. it was just not tender and flavorful, i found it chew and cartilaginous. maybe a bad night, but for the price it should be great.
Food and service was fabulous. The price was good.
Although half of our party arrived 45 mins late, the staff was kind eough to seat us the other half. We had late reservations so it did not affect any parties being seated afterwards. Excellent service, very cordial. Food was phenomenal. Will defintely go back.
We arrived shortly before 5:00 (opening time), were seated right away. Our server Nigel was extremely helpful. Would recommend for a special occasion.
Dated but tasty
I was going to NYC for a business trip and after watching Food Network, my wife and I said we had to try Strip House (especially for the 24 layer cake). The Brussels sprouts were outstanding, the mac and cheese had great flavor, but where we thought that it fell short was actually with the crab cake and the steak. They were good, but not great. The cake is definitely worth it, I can't say that it is the best that I ever had, but it ranks in the top 10. The service was top notch, but the prices were steep. $9.00 for a bottle of domestic beer is crazy!
Amazing food weird service
Our food was excellent and the ambiance was great. Our server was really odd and would often stand over us when we did not need anything making us a bit uncomfortable and was not very friendly. We also noticed they kept trying to take our food away when we were clearly still eating. Still overall a good experience and would definitely come back for the steak!
It's not only the meat!
My experience with steak houses is that pretty much all else on the menu is not given much attention. This is not the case at the Strip House. We shared a number of appetizers and salads, so it was a nice way to sample the menu. Creamed spinach is a must. The steaks were cooked to perfection for everyone, tho no one could finish their portion. Our waitress answered our questions without hesitation, and offered opinions when asked. We shared the chocolate cake, which should come with a warning and six forks.

Amazing Food and amazing waiter. I was a little annoyed by the fairly rude woman who seated us. 9 out of our 10 guests were there, and we were with a toddler so we asked to be seated. Though the restaurant was basically empty the woman said they don't seat unless everyone is there. While I understand this policy, the empty restaurant, the fact that we had a kid with us, and the fact that we were such a large party should have made her graciously tell us of course we will seat you. Instead she was cold and rude and said she could "make an exception" this one time. Gee, thanks.
Perfect spot for Valentine's Day
Beautiful bordello decor, intimate ambience, and an attentive wait staff who knew exactly when we needed what. Would recommend for a fancy night out when a romantic atmosphere is needed.
What a waste!
So my wife and i spend the weekend in the city and for years I have been told to head to Striphouse for a nice meal with my wife. We went to the location down on 12th. From the time we went in to the time we walked out was 63 minutes. Everything about the experience was how quick they could move you in and out! we had drinks, ordered an apetizer, main course (mine needed to be sent back as it was cold) and dessert and got the check and still out in 63 minutes. Striphouse is the TGI Fridays of Steak Houses! And with my order having to go back did they say "sorry drinks are on us, dessert is on us, can we buy you an after dinner drink"? Nothing, here's your check!! All of this joy for $250! Foks you want a good steak, great experience go to any of the other steak houses in NYC ( Sparks, Wolfgangs, etc.) you will have a much better experience for what you pay for.

Came to NYC to have a fun weekend and it started with dinner at the Strip House! AMAZING! Second time there and perfect both times!
Love to dine here a few times a year. Best Rib Eye in town. My only beef is that the mark up on the wines is way too much.
