My companion and I thoroughly enjoyed the entire dining experience. I had the venison and she enjoyed the vegetable ravioli. I eat a goodly amount of venison and this was cooked with exceptional care. I cannot give greater compliments to the chef. Exceptional cuisine and service. Brava tutti!

My cousin and I had the pleasure of dining at St. John's on Saturday, March 12th before a concert. While the food was excellent & the service exemplary, our wine ( a split of Bollinger - they were out of the Veuve Clicquot split we ordered) was served too warm even though we waited quite a while for it to be chilled. I think it would be worth the investment for a rapid wine chiller. We started with the warm beet salad and the foie gras which we both enjoyed, though I was confused by the foie's pastry accompaniment with it's creme patissiere style filling. I had the Maple Leaf Farms duck which was truly spectacular with stinging nettle risotto and lingonberries... the duck perfectly medium rare & the risotto's taste best described as verdant. My companion had the Grouper which she loved. We were most impressed with the Sequatchie Cove Farms cheese platter for dessert. Overall, a fun meal with smooth, professional service.
A True Gem
Was visiting Chattanooga and looked for fine dining on Open Table and found St John's. What a fantastic meal, from the service to the food and then the wine list. I wish we had a St Johns in my area. I will definitely recommend it to any friend visiting Chattanooga. To be specific, great cauliflower soup, wonderful rendition of trout and a chocolate brownie dessert to die for. Hats off to Chef Rebecca Brown.

Excellent food and drinks. Great service. The cappicola crostini appetizer was delicious, as was the warm beet salad and cauliflower, cheese, and lobster soup. Entrees were great. Dessert was good, but not astounding. Overall, a most wonderful experience, and we would come back.

Waiter recommended venison steak. It was amazing, melted in my mouth with absolutely no gamey taste. The cheese and lobster soup to begin was wonderful. We were surprised at the large portion of lobster. We would definitely recommend this restaurant as a five star restaurant.
I'd drive 2 hours from Atlanta to eat there again!
Excellent excellent excellent. We were in Chattanooga just for 1 night for our 5th anniversary and decided on St John's last minute after being booked somewhere else - best decision ever! I am a personal chef and a huge foodie so my standards are pretty high and St John's met all of them. The prices were Atlanta but the portions were enormous making it very good value for money. The lobster frisee salad is one of the most delicious things I have ever eaten and I treated myself to Venison which one rarely sees on menus these days. Our server was very attentive and it was overall a wonderful and delicious night. I would highly recommend it.
Best restaurant in Chattanooga
This restaurant is so wonderful!! My husband and I went for our anniversary and loved every minute of it. It's simply but beautifully decorated, the atmosphere is elegant and the ambience is quiet but not stuffy. The food is delicious. It has never failed to be everytime we've gone. The chef always comes up with lovely combinations based on whatever is fresh for the day. I had the red snapper and it was great! It was served with a seafood stew that was light and complemented the entree perfectly. This restaurant is just right for a special occasion but please don't wait. Go ASAP!

The Antelope I ordered was so tough I could not cut it with a steak knife. The chief was gracious about letting me order something else. From there on the meal was on a par with any place we have eaten anywhere. The service was excellent and the atmosphere appropriate for the occasion. I asked them to have a single yellow rose on the table and it was there when we were seated. The only problem we encountered was with the on line reservation process. It took three tries and a phone call to get that corrected and by then the only availability was late.
My husband and I celebrated Valentines Eve at St. Johns. The overall experience was wonderful. The food was top notch and service was wonderful.

Our group of 6 celebrated Valentines Day at St. John's. The service & food were excellent. Due to high volume on holiday, I believe we were placed in back banquet room - perhaps not the best ambiance. It was rather quiet until later when the room became full. The four of us enjoyed sharing different food items and all were excellent. Our server did a great job answering our questions regarding ingredients used, etc. My beef filet was cooked perfectly and the horseradish in the potato purée was a wonderful surprise. Loved the honey citrus vinaigrette on the organic lettuces. My spouse & I enjoyed the dessert tastings for two .. I believe there were 4 different items for each of us .. The coffee ice cream & brownies were my favorites. We will definitely return and highly recommend to others!
My partner works in fine dining and has managed comparable restaurants in Dallas, Texas. We regularly eat at fine dining restaurants in big cities, and St. Johns was right up there with our experiences in larger cities with more established/extensive food scenes. We received unparalleled service, excellent recommendations from the sommelier, an upgrade when our chosen wine had been sold, and the food was something different, intriguing, and well-prepared. The kumquat and veal pairing was inspired, the mushroom perogies were outstanding and off the beaten path, and the portions were generous. My before dinner cocktail was refreshing and intriguing. We can also tell the staff are well-trained and well taken care of, which speaks well of St. John's management. Not every restaurant ensures their staff is so well prepared, and it absolutely took our experience to the next level, and made St. Johns stand out within the Chattanooga culinary landscape. We feel good about spending our money here, and can't wait to come back.
Great taste ..not steaks
My experience at St. John's restaurant was overall very nice the flavors in the creativity of the food were excellent wine list was extensive my only complaint was that my steak that I ordered seem to be a little tough for fillet mignon and was seasoned a little much for my liking. Management offered us free dessert to compensate for the unsatisfactory steak however we declined the complimentary dessert and would have expected some compensation on the bill. Again our overall experience at St. John's was wonderful I would highly recommend it

The food was very good and very well prepared. The food selection has a different and unice veriety. The tables are a little close together for party's of two but the great food made up for it. The wait staff did a good job also.
Everything was perfect!
This was my birthday treat for my girlfriend and we were so impressed with everything. The food is a foodies dream and the service was so amazing! Starting from the hostess that greeted us with a nice smile and told my girlfriend Happy Birthday and immediately took us to our very romantic little table upstairs by the window. We were greeted by our server shortly after sitting and he was very helpful in our wine selection. I don't have enough beautiful words in my vernacular to describe food. Trust me from texture to flavor pairings everything was delicious. This is our new favorite place in the entire world , so we will travel to Chattanooga much more frequently.
A true find downtown Chattanooga
Read about on Trip advisor and was not disappointed. Listed as number 2 restaurant and was up to billing. Entrees, starters and wines by the glass all very good. Would certainly go back.

We have not lived in Chattanooga for over ten years and this was our first visit to St Johns in the time. Nothing gas changed the food and service are still excellent. Noise level too high, but otherwise very enjoyable meal with old dear friends.
Anniversary, New Years Eve!
We have had our anniversary dinner at Saint John for five years. The food is innovative and wonderful. Very imaginative menu. Love the ambience

Amazing food and service.
The food was great, I got the Antelope and my wife got the Filet. Both were cooked to perfection and the sides were delicious. The server was very friendly and the atmosphere was good for an anniversary dinner. When we came in they wished us a happy anniversary and even the menus were made for our anniversary.

A special occasion restaurant
After gently denying a terribly small table up against a wall, in the corner, our food and service was exceptionable. My husband's beef was fork tender and my steelhead trout was perfectly cooked. The most memorable for me was the soup before dinner. One would have to experience the smoothness poured around the seafood mound ... Deliciousness!

I adored this beautiful place! We were seated on the balcony. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas, our server was lovely and informed, and we felt very attended to. The food was amazing- the chicken was divine and the ahi tuna starter is a new favorite. We will definitely return.
